You nailed it. It's the same thing here in Montreal, people think it's cool to diss TO but when I'm there or meet ppl visiting, everyone says only how much they love Montreal. I love Mtl too and wouldn't wanna live in TO - I grew up in Ottawa btw so it could've gone either way - but TO's a very cool place. Amazing food, nightlife is way better than it was just 10 years ago, friendly people, the downtown is safe, it's got some very walkable and interesting neighbourhoods, great brewpubs, world class museums and galleries, good public transit, and it seems to have finally found it's own identity. Toronto has turned into a pretty cool city in the 21st century.

The French Canadians in Ottawa think there superior over the English speakers. ***** Vancouver is a beautiful city and life is good there, but the people and city vibe are very sterile. Probably due to the huge gap between rich and everyone else, and the rich tend to be foreigners (Chinese) who stick to their own communities. The average person in Vancouver can be educated and well paid, but it's pointless in the end because housing is so out of reach. $70k/year salary won't put a dent in a $1.4 million average house price. In Toronto at least you can buy a very nice new 1 or 2 bedroom condo downtown for $400k-$500k, and live in a far more vibrant and "alive" community. Something similar downtown Vancouver will set you back $700k-$1mil, and the downtown scene isn't as good.

Actually, London England is far more expensive, crowded and people are more boxed in. I generally hate living here and would gladly come back to Toronto if I could. There's more space in Canada, and I have yet to visit the Maritime provinces. I always used to hear the 'newfie' jokes while living in Toronto. And people had this perception, that people out east are thick and stupid. Here in the UK, most people outside London don't like the city and I can't blame them. People in the north of England are generally more friendlier and less bothered about what you do for a living, and more interested in what you do in your spare time. This is one thing I hate about living in London, and people who think you fail because you can't get a mortgage, don't own a car, or have expensive accessories. I rant on, but not everyone is like that in London. It's just my personal opinion. Some people on here need to probably travel more, so they can make comparisons.

The LRT is mediocre, built by Bombadier, the worst train manufacturing company in the world. The architecture sucks. The city is stagnant. Vancouver has the oldest and longest skid row in Canada. No one cares. More people living on the streets than any city in Canada, more people begging than any city I have been in this life time. Why? The city has become a place to buy property and launder money. Housing is ridiculous, and nobody cares. I hate Vancouver for that reason. From a born and bred Londoner(England), I found Toronto very different, although still busy for a big city, but less crowded compared to my home city. Comparing it to Vancouver, after also visiting that city twice, I still think TO comes out better. There's more things to do, places to see, despite it being more built up. The winters are severe and summers are hot, but I much prefer that to the dismal summers of England and wet and mild winters we tend to get over here. Toronto is an oasis of authentic arts and culture, it has the 3rd largest English speaking theatre industry after NYC and London. It has the largest collection of urban Victorian architecture (i.e. The distillery distict). It is the only city in Canada with 24 hour public transportation (Blue Night Network), there is lots more but too much to mention in one comment, plus it is really really safe. Statistically, Ontario has much less crime than the rest of the Canadian provinces, and Toronto has much much less crime than Vancouver and Montreal. It was actually named the safest city in North America by the Economist in 2015. The dangerous notorious perception of Toronto comes from long standing subtle racism that exists within Canadian society. Most things about a good Canada are not true, Including clean cities - beaches, and forests. It's a big lie. The first time I arrived in Vancouver in 2018, I was shocked. As soon as I left the airport door, I saw tissue, disposable glasses, and other garbage left in the city. The further I went, the more I saw them. Before I moved to Canada, I lived in Georgia, Armenia, Turkey, Serbia, The United States, and for a short time in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Netherland, Germany, and England, but I have never seen the amount of garbage that people leave in different Canadian cities. Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, and Quebec are no less than Vancouver. I'm so sorry for Canada. Canadian and Canadian Governments don't care about this tragedy. I think everything that says about Canada as a clean and powerful culture is not true. You don't need to travel to Canada to see this. Just watch some videos about walking in downtown Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, and Quebec. You will find the truth. Impossible for you to walk in a Canadian city and you don't see the dark side of that. Everywhere you will see garbage. You will never see this in Europe or the United States. This amount of waste is not even seen in Malaysian-Indonesian or Thailand cities. It is impossible for you to use public transport and not see a lot of garbage at stations or on the route. You will be surprised to find a lot of garbage even in the woods - by the rivers and on the beach.

Typically Canadian anti urban sentiment, if you want the economy to improve its the big cites that do it not rural communities. For every 1 person it takes at least 3 people to support that one person ie food, housing and etc. A city concentrates people and creates demand for other services thus fueling more employment. People in the rural areas are separated from long distances and are either forced to become independent or struggle on there own. I guess the rest of Canada still thinks being rural and selling resources to the US is the way to go, that only works if the US is the dominant economy, times have changed.

Thats a fact. I don't want to here ignorant Caucasians blaming immigrants and immigrants blaming Caucasians for discrimination. Theres several Caucasians and immigrants that have become successful in Toronto so its counter productive to blame each other. The one thing they both have in common is finding a need and selling it.

gino manshit I’ve been seeing your replies and you spread so much Hate towards immigrants but why ? You seem like you don’t have any knowledge about history and the ability to understand globalisation nor you are broad minded neither smart enough (for basically i guess anything) . You should maybe live in a secluded place along with shit people like you and eventhough you would like to live that way but guess what you’ll still not stop complaining or spreading hate because you feed on it . Immigrants don’t come to your country to hurt you or to snatch your happiness , all they seek is education , a better life and when they are living a better life in some other country then sometimes they give back much more to that country than the real people of that country itself . Also mixed race is the race of the future that’s going to span across the globe , it’s spreading out of love , understanding and acceptance between people of all races , if you can’t digest all this then i suggest you should find another planet .

I lived here for 18yrs and i have been to montreal, ottawa, NFL, PEI and halifax and majority of Canada's population is in toronto and many different people and food and stores but the only thing that sucks about toronto is our Sports team: they just cant win the NBA championship or the NHL Stanley cup :( but we did won in Soccer in 2017 we actully won something. Every city/country has its own ups and downs you can only judge once you live there for atleast 6 months/ 1 year.

there are legit reasons to hate us Torontonians. My dashcam vids will show you one of the biggest. But I think the last guy got it half right, majority that put the hate on us have never been here where others had different expectations. I was born and raised here, never thought of it as the center of the universe but it is the center of what I know and understand. Having travelled around the US and Latin America, I make comparisons because TO is my benchmark. Vegas has an over the top mad night life we can't even compare to. New Orleans restaurant scene is so much more vibrant and service centric to vs even the best we have to offer. I love Boston architecture over our sights. But home is home

Toronto is full of unaffordable housing, depression during the winter months and has a terrible unregulated condo development. The city is trying to be something it's not aka New York. Yeah we are one of the most diverts cities in the word but most migrants who come here are rich investors from India or China who just wanna drive are cost of living through the roof and the ones who are coming from war zones or just trying to make a new life for themselves can't even afford to live here without being Independent on the government, that goes for most Canadian born citizen as well. The traffic is complete shit thanks to all the rapid gentrification happening to are lower income neighborhoods witch is just making things worse then better. Kicking people out of there homes, destroying there community's and replacing them with ugly ass condos and modern houses worth more then a lambo not gonna fix the crime problem. It's gonna cause more crime let alone more homeless people on the streets who where kicked out of them homes and now can't afford to live in the condos. Despite that most of the city's politicians are corrupt or just bad at there jobs. The sports teams suck despite the Raptors for once in a life time. Crime is not to bad but it's not getting better over the years.

I am born and raised most of my life in Toronto but now happily live in beautiful Vancouver, BC, and I will never live in Toronto again even though my family and friends are still there. I usually tell foreign visitors or people generally to skip on visiting Toronto completely as life is too short and there are better places to see and visit.

Interesting replies in the video. I've lived in Vancouver, and have been to Toronto many times. My experience with Toronto is that it's a great city, and unfortunately is often poorly perceived. The crime rates in the Vancouver area surpass Toronto, and there's definitely far more pretentious people in Van.

Try using the edmonton public transit...now THATS bad. The subway/rt system only go to two corners of the city, the buses are so slow, and they dont even have that stop announcement thing that tells your where you're going like ttc buses do. Plus, the buses always stink & are filled with drug addicts & people who dont know how to take showers. Even worse, the individual fares are $3.20, for adults AND kids! Compared to that, the TTC is freakin amazing.

good thing about toronto is that its very diverse but the traffic is horrible, the winters keep on getting longer and colder & there's road work almost everywhere because of our harsh winter, and not to be rude but the people of Caribbean descent here have no manners & are extremely loud. Another thing i hate in toronto is the insurance companies here are such a scam, we pay the highest rates in all of Canada. i wish i could move back to montreal or Vancouver

Its the Jamaicans that have the bad attitudes not all people from the Caribbean. Without people from the West Indies Toronto would be missing a large chunk of its urban culture that makes it seem cool to outsiders.
