@johngranheim3134
9 ай бұрын
Hi, At first I was going to suggest a write in campaign, but I have a feeling the same problems with 100 faults would be present there if it's even allowed at all. So, if a system is rigged against you, how do you beat it? Organize a new system and replace it. Organize a free election globally at the same date as the official election and put your candidate on the ballot (make sure Putin is on it too). Have the entire expat diaspora vote in this election and see what the result is. As extra credit on this you could also use the volunteers on election day to allow Russians inside Russia to cast remote votes over video link for the free election. That would require some cyber security work and the 10 000 people you mentioned but should be doable too. I'm sure western journalists would love to report on a effort like this and it should cause all sorts of legitimacy problems for the people who will inevitably win the "official" election. If you do embark on this journey, do predict the opponents steps and defang them in advance (like stating that this will be your supported candidate even if she were to renounce you as you understand she may be forced to do that under threat and so on). Anyway, just a thought that might just be doable.

I was once invited to dinner by a Russian army lieutenant, expecting a bold brash tough man I was astounded to find him to be the most pleasant gentleman and he and his wife left an everlasting impression on me with their kindness and honesty. So this war situation Russians have been forced into leaves me very distressed. Very sad how Russian lives are treated with distain by the leaders. Russia is beautiful backed with so much history. Too bad as an American, I have NEVER heard anyone say "I want to go to Russia for vacation." It's sad the state that the government has put Russia in. Just when Russia was beginning to be some what trusted, they whiped it away over night. And to regain that trust will take longer than the 3 decades it took this time. Just so sad for the every day Russians.

I'm a retired American ex-pat who has lived and worked in the Netherlands for the past 30 years. It's great to be able to travel around Europe, and I was considering a visit to St. Petersburg several years ago. But after what Putin has done to Ukraine, I would NEVER EVER go to Russia. Russia wasn't a top tourist destination in the first place, and even if you get in, you might not get back out. Look what happened to poor Paul Weyland (sp.?) When the USSR fell apart, I had high hopes that Russia would finally become at least a semi-democratic country, and take its rightful place in the world. I cried tears of joy when I witnessed the Berlin Wall being torn down. I never believed that would happen in my lifetime. Now, sadly, a mad imp holds the reigns of power in the Kremlin, and he's rebuilding that wall.
