It also come very handy to have your own gear when invasion started.

Modern body armor prevents blunt force trauma and allows the wearer to either continue fighting or at least get to cover under their own power. @@eddapultstab2078 That's not what the video implies. The video implies that good body armour means little to no bruising and no broken ribs at all and that because the older Russian body armour doesn't prevent this then it isn't any good. Anyways, I really doubt anybody is wearing body armour where u dnt feel anything against a weapon designed to fire effectively at 300 feet away. I'm not sure if body armour like that even exists but if it does it will be heavy to the point where I doubt soldiers will be wearing that because u're a much slower, bigger target and body armour is generally only able to block a few shots not sustained hits.

@@eddapultstab2078 soldiers and enemy combatants also didn't notice they were shot and continued fighting on many occasions due to adrenaline. The only reason people fall to the floor when they're shot is if they know they've been due to films portraying it so it's hard wired into our brains that you fall to the ground when you get shot, obviously this doesn't apply to large calibre rounds that have the force to knock a person to the ground/shred the person.

Russian military tactics have always relied upon throwing ill equipped, low morale human waves at the enemy under a hail of artillery fire and massed tank rushes, until the enemy runs out of ammo or is ground down and overwhelmed. The cheapest and most plentiful resource in the Russian military always has been human lives and effective equipment has always been an afterthought. The thing is though, Russians can afford to lose a multiple of lives more as the Ukrainians. And so far, it has been the Ukrainians who suffer a multiple of the Russian losses. So Russia has the advantage both in sheer numbers and K/D ratio, plus superior firepower. No matter how heroically the Ukrainians fight and sacrifice themselves, this war is all but decided already. And with Ukraine losing entire generations of its fighting age men, its demographic destiny is all but sealed.

A well-trained and fully equipped combat and other soldiers are extremely expensive and certainly can be worth 10 or many times more on a battlefield than an untrained and not fully equipped one. Training not only costs lots of money this training takes years to be achieved not months or weeks. Expensive troops are also trained not only on how not to get killed but also on how not to get injured as an injured soldier is a great hindrance on a battlefield. Therefore all armies have a highly limited amount of these types of troops, some being far more limited than others. Once lost they may never be replaced also because a certain degree of psychopathy is required, and most people even most young men are not psychopaths. Over a period of time, it becomes increasingly difficult to recruit the right sort of people, to the point where this becomes all but impossible without the need for physical force or very real intimidation. These are the main reasons why NATO and western forces have to be extremely careful not to allow casualty figures to rise too much. Contrary to popular belief this has very little to do with democracy, as what the people of western countries think or want with regard to wars, and just about anything else for that matter is of very little relevance. If you think differently then you have been watching far too much BBC TV, as it appears has also Putin and his advisors. Vietnam was not only a long time ago, but it also did not end because the US lost, it ended because the US never fort to win in the first place, and eventually run out of reasons to keep up the scam. This had next to nothing to do with the American anti-war movement, as this was simply set up as an excuse once the US military's top brass had finally gotten fed up with wasting young men's lives for no kind of useful purpose.

You are adopting the perspective of the individual soldier. Yes, he's alive after getting hit by a shot that would normally have killed him. Great. But his commanders see things differently. If he's incapacitated by the shot (hard impact and brusing) and is either captured or must be evacuated from the front bc of it, it's as good as no armor at all. The MILITARY-OPERATIONAL value of the fake armor is nil, or even negative (since an incapacitated survivor must still eat rations, and if captured may help the enemy with information).

Not sure you guys understand how body armor works. It's supposed to stop you from dying, not from getting bruises. If you take a 30 caliber projectile to the chest, and your plate and carrier are enough to defeat it, you are still going to get bruising, pain, and very likely broken ribs because those projectiles travel in the thousands of feet per second. Bruises and broken bones don't matter as long as the armor saves your life, and that's what it's supposed to do. Also, Airsoft and Paintball are two, vastly different things.
