You sound like you may be an expert on Iran, maybe you could write a book! I can picture it now. Your literary masterpiece, titled "Iran sucks dik" will have the title scrawled on the cover (Graffitti style) using a wide tipped Sharpie. Coming back to this after Borat 2, I’m seeing a lot of people bring up the character’s blatant hatred towards jews. Can’t truly comment on it, as I’m not jewish myself, but to me it seemed like he was always showing how ridiculous anti-Semitic people are. And to me thats such a great way to battle people who share those views. If you can’t have a logical debate with them, simply point and laugh at how dumb they look and sound. People have the full right to take offense to Borat’s views, but I’ve always seen it as something similar to Mel Brooks. Baron Cohen gets more flak for it simply because Borat is pseudo-realism, like you said. Theres a discussion to be had there, but most people would write it off as hate speech and go to bed happy. And that makes me sad.

I personally find Sacha's genre to be a blend of making "idiots" around him feel uncomfortable by crossing the lines of socially acceptable behavior and exposing them for their hypocrisy. It really doen't take a genius to come up with bathroom, cringe, and vulgar jokes but I do agree that he uses these shallow situations to his advantage, namely, that when a person is pulled out of their comfort zone, you get to see the real person he's interacting with...aside from shamelessly making politicians, false prophets, liars and such squirm in their seat. They're obviously his number one target and he LOVES IT! I think deep down, Sacha is a blend of social activist, comedian, and anarchist who's truly unhappy with the world's morals, ethics, and standards, but is trying to find a humerous way to reconcile and deal with it all. That way he doesn't lose his mind and go postal as he watches the world cut its own throat. Thus, by producing these metaphorical, "symbolically psychotic" movies, his message seems to be: "The world has lost its freeking mind...but these fools like it that way! Stop being a fool!" 😢

This is a great narrative. And perhaps one Baron Cohen himself has claimed as an origin story. However, it just isn't true. SBC didn't discover the idea of mixing cringe comedy with real life interviews. This kind of comedy has existed for decades. Most notably it was used to massive acclaim throughout the 1990s on a series of satirical news programmes written by Chris Morris. Most notably the faux documentary news series 'Brasseye'. Morris pioneered exactly the kind of fake public safety campaign interviews that SBC is using in his new series. Brasseye was screened in 1997, three years before the debut of the derivative, and frankly much less biting Ali G Show. Incidentally, an early Morris show 'The Day Today', gave birth to the character of Alan Partridge. Ali G was also likely influenced by Caroline Ahern's 1995 fake talkshow Mrs Merton, in which she interviewed real celebrity guests in character. Later SBC would mix in elements of the Jackass franchise and Andy Kaufman's foreign man character to create Borat. It's kind of amazing that you don't even reference Kaufman, who literally invented the idea of an fictional character interacting with unknowing participants - using their own prejudices and politeness around outsiders to create uncomfortable comedy, back in the 1970s!

@LeatherCladVegan

niels, Cohen is trying to get them to quantify what it is that is objectively valuable about the animal's life. Is it the chicken's character that makes him or her more valuable than an other? How do we grade a chicken's worth, if not by the kilo? What if the first chicken had the second chicken as a hostage, and was threatening to peck him to death? Would it be OK to kill the first chicken then? If you say 'yes', then you have to agree that a chicken's personality constitutes part of its value. If you say 'no', then it's just every chicken for itself, and I really don't think *absolute feudal chicken madness* is any way for farmyard animals to live. The humour comes from the juxtaposition between the idiotic character of Ali G, and the incredibly complex, philosophical nature of the answer to that question. Does that make sense? (I don't expect you to suddenly find it funny, but I hope you understand). Cheers.

Because he is the only troll who actually DOES provide social commentary and satire instead of just being an asshole.

Cj Holden Not a troll, trolls go after people with malice and purposely go out of their way to piss people off. Sasha is more of a fool who slightly manipulates others to become bigger fools than him

The Dictator was an excellent movie especially for us growing up in the middle east... Oh and his new limited series The Spy shows us how he's capable of doing way more than just comedies and that his acting skills are also very polished...

I just found out that this dude studied history at Cambridge University and Wrote his thesis about the American Civil Rights Movement, he's just an amazing artist... A lot of his comedy has this historic background that involves powerful people and how they ruin common folks

I tell everyone to watch this show, but it's too hard to describe without comparing to Sacha Baron Cohen, which I think a lot of people associate with crudeness and shock value.

Oh shit, didn't know you were into this kind of content! Love your vids. Just like this Baron Cohen video, you're continually pushing for "taboo" content such as mma to be understood by the common folks who would normally look at the amazing sport in such a negative light. It's good that misinformed people could suddenly stumble upon your channel and become enlightened on what mma really is.

Sacha should have won Best Actor for Borat. The few minutes we see of, for example, an American politician showing his arse and running arse first at a man shouting USA, is the result of hours of great acting, never losing character, never letting the act slip in what must be very hard circumstances. I agree his scripted movies have been rather poor, but he's great at what he does best, and Who Is America is what he does best... Great to see him back doing this. He's a Great actor, maybe the best of our generation.

He should be covered in awards literally. The fact he's not somehow proves he's so far ahead many don't get his art, least of all award academies and juries in America.

his art isn't "genius" or "era-defining". Its just a more sophisticated way of trolling. Most of his humor is just from inviting people who think outrageous things onto his show, or just saying outrageous things himself. Such as all his offensive jokes.

He pushes the stereotypes to the max, making fun of the people who make fun of those stereotypes. I think it is quite genius.

uh yeah until he tricks a christian palestinian father into an interview then presents him as a 'terrorist'", subsequently ruining the man's reputation in what is most likely already a very difficult life in the west bank
