I agree with your conclusions. I too am guilty of jumping around between videos looking for a quick tip or technique, without always stopping to watch the whole video and learn more. The other problem is all the gear-related videos that suck you in with reviews and comparisons.

Oh yeah, add gear videos on top, and it's a recipe for procrastination! Good point. In the best of worlds, we should watch any KZitem lesson with our guitar in hands, pausing frequently and trying what we learn ourselves immediately for the best benefit. That's what I meant by saying ''Feeling more'' in this video. You can't ''feel'' what you're learning if you're not even trying it, and chasing the next piece of content instead.

My biggest pet peeve about instructional videos online are people that post tabs that are ridiculously tiny. Who can read that?

I am also a member of your video channel, and what I say sometimes I miss real techniques with many people who make videos. By that I mean, they explain a lot, but many do not go into what is important. they don't go to the heart of the matter. for example, I also love bass guitar and if I am looking for a song that I really like, for example Spanish music, for example camisa negra. But then they play the song, but they forget to explain the strumming pattern, but if you get it explained simply and well, it turns out not to be difficult at all. The same problem with see Shanty, some guitar teachers explain it so hard that you give up because there is a piece missing, the piece that is really needed to complete the puzzle. and then I also give up after 5 to 10 minutes. I want to learn the song, but when I've seen the entire video and I'm like, what is this? Then I won't even visit that KZitem channel anymore. I don't want to waste time on things that are of no use to me.

When I tune into a video for instructional content I don't want to hear someone play some song on their guitar for 6 minutes. If they want to put out a music video don't label it instructional.

The opposite is also true, people watching a lesson saying: ''you talk too much, just play the damn guitar''. I think teachers should strive to reach a balance, but ultimately it's impossible to please everybody.... learning styles are different. Some people want more demonstration, and others more explanations. I tend to like explanations more myself, because like you said, playing is not a lesson to me. But I can understand that for some people, it is, because they're more visual learners.

@@AntoineMichaudGuitar I was referring to a person doing a musical piece just to show they can play with no point at all to what the video is supposed to be about.

So true ... took me 1 year to figure out learning all triads and inversions really help my playing. In my opinion the problem is even bigger. You made a really good point with the 1min attention, it's maybe simple but not so easy anymore. We need to condition ourselves again to feel the environment and the sonic tensions, it's not a thing what happened over the last years . I think it already happened over a decade when smartphones conquered our daily routines.

The consequences of our hyper-connected world. Can you imagine that just a dozen decades earlier watching musicians play live was the only way to be exposed to music? Almost unfathomable to consider this concept in our era. But it's not that long ago. We have reached the opposite. Music is so much a commodity that it doesn't feel special enough anymore... but it should be.
