Hi Abby, Thank you very much for the tips, It's very interresting and helpful. Could we talk about the technical part first then the cultural or is it important to keep it in that way?

Great question, and thanks for your patience. You can talk about these in any order, I tend to prefer culture first because that’s harder to “train” or “change.” Most technical skills can be learned.

Abby! Really enjoying finding your channel and as many commenters have shared JUST IN TIME FOR ME! In the work force since the 60s, I'm vying for a new position after being in mine for a decade. Just finished a resume workshop which for anyone going for a job today needs. ATLs, including 3 soft, hard & technical bullet points, no objective statement as apparently that's old hat, all that were concepts I needed plus shrinking 50 years of experience to one rockem' sockem' page without going overboard. However I am stumped on taxonomy codes for the online app, but undeterred I am recording myself to best answer those all important "Tell me about yourself" and "why should we hire you" questions!! Kristi who runs a resume seminar for JOBFORCE ended up in her current career after disastrous interviews she shared with us in the resume seminar. On the "tell me about yourself, she shared she did not use that opportunity as a solid sales pitch, instead of going on about taking the kids to Chucky Cheese's and ensuing family debacle the night before!! Her resume she shared was a multipage overwhelming disaster (as mine was also!) Kristi had the gumption to ask the interviewer at one of the gone south meetings to critique her and what she shared was painful: antiquated, unteachable, unrelatable, out of sync and on... oof! This pro has a Masters in communication and 20 years in her chosen field and lost a much desired position after a totally flubbed interview and resume. She is now helping us here in San Diego County. The class I sat in on had an audience transitioning from from one career to possibly another, guys brilliant in their work but trying to translate that into "YOU'RE OUR MAN" on paper, folks with scattered skills pulling them together.... thank you Abby (and our local Kristi) for reaching back to us who are skilled at aspects of our career but need some updated hand-holding to get through the rest. Just found you, REALLY like your content, subscribed, liked and you'll see my various comments about. THANK YOU!! P.S. Looks like you're based in my former home state of Colorado?

I came across your channel today because I have an interview for a senior finance position. Thank you for making such wonderful videos. The only thing I would have preferred is if you provided a practical example of how this question is answered so that everyone can take a cue from there to craft their own.

Thanks for the feedback, and I hope your interview went well! I think one of my upcoming videos may be with a practical example - I'm trying to do more of those since I've gotten similar feedback before! Stay tuned and let me know what you think when you see it come out :)

Hello Abby, thank you this video. You covered 2 vital points. Just wanted to share my honest feedback. I think couple of sample answers would really benefit the viewers. I understand that everyone should have unique answers but the sample can be modified as per ones requirements. The sample will provide a language frame where one can build his/her answer Inclusion of more slides would make the videos more interesting i believe. Wish you all the success

Your cultural and technical points were very helpful, as usual. For whatever reason, I snoozed on subscribing to your page. I would have bet cash money I took care of that. Go figure!
