I think body positivity is more about selfesteem and being ok with never being able to meet supermodel standards. But glorifying the more-than-chubby body is just as bad as phat shaming imo.

And oh my gosh! It looks so different and colorful, I didn’t even realize it was the same studio until I saw the video pan over to Bart and Joe’s sides. Much love! This is the discussion everyone should listen to. Weight shouldn’t matter so much if you’re healthy, but if you’re not, it’s the easiest indicator to monitor yourself imo. Some people are obviously overweight and unhealthy, but they don’t do health screenings, and thus “not unhealthy”, yet complain of pain here and there, getting sick frequently, i dunno what to say to that

weight is 100% diet, and diet is what we eat forever. my advice on diet is eating four nutritionally complete meals a day and not putting unhealthy food in the diet cause it is safe to assume we will eat some garbage once in a while but if we put it in our diet plan we will eat the garbage everyday. also, there are levels to "garbage"; some dark chocolate is fine but a frappuccino is a billion calories.

@@ZeeChibs i've personally eaten 3, 4 and 5 meals a day and found, in my experience, that 3 is insufficient, we starve in between, 5 is too strict and takes a toll in our digestive system(did it when i lifted a lot), and 4 is the healthiest and leaves some room for a fruit if i want. about timing with four meals we can make a meal about every four hours like at 8/12/16/20 with the last meal at the latest two hours before sleep. of course living is more than a dietary experience so exercise and other things are factors for our happiness and well being that necessitate consideration.

yeah i mean the body positivity message isn't inherently bad but unfortunately it's implementation is often mixed with the current popular modern reactionary culture we live in, where emotions and reactions are sensationalised. So while we as a society should really be working on coming to a middle common ground, i find that as the pendulum swings between "progressive" (e.g. love all bodies) and "traditionally conservative" (e.g. fat shaming) opinions, each camp gives a larger and larger reaction to the other's opinion and you end up with a pendulum that swings more and more into the extreme - rather than letting it slow down and come towards the middle.
@HasanPikerIsADouche
2 күн бұрын
"Traditional conservative"... the fact that you think 1 is progressive and the other is conservative is all propoganda started by the left. It was never politicized until the progressives got their hands on it, and started labeling anyone who didn't agree with body positivity or even worse "health at any size" a right wing bigot. They started to label exercise a weapon of white supremacy, that fatphobia was I inherently anti-black, while we have fat activists screaming that weight plays no part on health, that doctors are fatphobic, that ppl of color can't help being overweight bc they lack the ability to eat healthy, and other nonsensical bc they could come up with. Now, the very activists who were tipping the scales at unhealthy weights have lost their lives due to complications bc of their size

Part of why it matters is because carrying more weight is harder on the joints. I saw a YT short where it was talking about how there are people who mock people that are overweight. Yet when the people that are overweight go to the gym and try to workout, they get made fun of even though they are trying to take the steps to improve their health. So it was talking about how the latter needs to stop.

My issue is why do people care? You don't know if people have conditions like PCOS, thyroid conditions etc. I work out, I'm a recovering bulimic so I don't even get hunger ques anymore and set timers to eat etc. I've lost 60lbs in 6 months by sticking to an insanely strict low carb high protein moderate fat diet and am literally entirely healthy medically other than my PCOS yet people assume I eat like shit and have multiple health issues. They tell me the same shit my dietitian tells me thinking I haven't heard it before. In my opinion if you don't know someone's medical history or eating habits you should stfu. I've seen skinny people eat nothing but McDonald's, Taco Bell , Doritos, Fried chicken etc. (A recipe for an early death) Yet because they're small they aren't chastised. It's clearly not about health. I never insult men on their looks because they can't help it (unless they start with me first because I'm not a pussy.) Yet I've had countless men and some women give their unprompted opinion on how I look. I'm pro exercise and healthy eating habits regardless of size.

Obesity just like social media addiction is a result of people’s failure to adapt to our changing society. It’s not normal or good to be fat and was not common for our entire existence except for the last 50 years. Sure, do whatever you want with your body just don’t burden your family or others with your health problems.

weight matters bc aesthetics. ofcourse beauty is in the eye of the beholder but generally looks does matter to everyone on some level. health is a nice way of saying why bigger people aren't the most attractive bc there are slim looking people who have terrible health but that won't make u go 'ugh ur unattractive eww' that doesn't happen lool in the same way someone who looks like a skeleton is not aesthetically pleasing to a lot of folks. extremes of any body weight can be off-putting yknow

The natural hair movement has more to do with discrimination in the workplace and black women finding it difficult to deal with our natural hair... after being forced to conform for decades. Wearing your hair the way it's supposed to be vs harmful chemical manipulation and/or heat damage It can't be considered "an over-correction" because they should've never tried to white wash us by harassing us for our differences and threat of unemployment. Having 4ABC hair doesn't stop us from performing the same tasks as everyone else in a working environment but choosing to be unhealthy could actually become an issue of productivity... depending on the job. Most of the time, people are just being shallow and mean to fat people tho, So that's why the body positivity movement is so rampant. Just let people live happily 🤷🏾♀️
