I bought 2 PB3000s from Amir last year and have enjoyed them very much. I was considering picking up another PB3000 to help smooth out the responses in my room a little more still but now I'm wondering if I should trade the 2 PB3000s in for 3 D6000s. Hi Barrett, thanks a lot for you great videos on the Tonewinner products. I am considering duals and just to let you know, there is a 15" model available with dual 15" drivers, the D8000. The cabinet is a little bit bigger and it has a more powerful amp. There is little info / images to be found on this model, where is the 2nd driver placed etc, but I have asked that. Here are the specs that I found in their subwoofer manual. (This can be found on their website): SW-D8000: - Driver unit: 15" x 2 - Frequency range: 13-220Hz - Cont. working power: 1500W (3 ohm, 1kHz, THD

Hey Barrett great review! I really enjoy all your reviews and channel in general so thanks. Very helpful, your videos especially helped me out with my new Anthem AVM70 and setting that up. Lots of great choices out there but keep HSU Research in mind also for subwoofers. I have two VTF-2 MK5's which are 12's, corner loaded diagonally in my room. They will go down to 16hz with one port plugged. So you get that punchy bass of a 12 and the low "pictures shaking off the walls" type bass too. My room is on the smaller size so fitting a couple 15's in there would be a stretch. Cool thing about the MK5's is you can configure them the way you want by plugging (or not plugging) the two ports. Depending on how you like your bass to sound, what you predominately listen to etc. Reasonably priced at $689 US apiece currently but sometimes they have some nice sales too. I sound like an ad but I have had them for about 5 years now and they are awesome, continue to impress. End game for subs in my case. HSU is not as widely known as like an SVS and I don't think they get enough props for their very well made and engineered speakers. Maybe you could get some HSU stuff in at some point down the road to review.
@SpecOfTech
Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the support brother, I appreciate it. I have had my eye on HSU subs before. As a matter of fact, I have had them provide quotes for me twice. I am in Canada though, and HSU's sales model doesn't really accommodate Canadians very well. For example, if we ever needed warranty, HSU would expect the Canadian to ship the subwoofer to HSU and back at the customers expense. That, and the cost of shipping and exchange, HSU really loses its appeal because the cost gets out of hand quickly for their budget subs. Anyone in America looking for budget subs should keep HSU in mind, they do offer great performance for the price.

Could you comment on this sub’s subsonic performance with all high pass filters disengaged? I would imagine things get fairly ugly below 10 hz at higher volumes, but my particular use case is (almost exclusively) at lower listening levels and I find I’m increasingly less interested in achieving max SPL than I am in attaining low distortion, high quality resolution of transient subsonic content. I’ve been eyeballing the SVS (sealed box) Ultra 16, but the size and weight (my ManCave is upstairs, with a staircase and 45° twist at the halfway point)-not to mention the price- have me looking elsewhere. Love your channel and your commitment to exploring the wonderful world of LFE!

So in my small room they are all dialed in for music and movies and believe they are performing dam good...( same problem with house shaking and floors etc lol ) Yes I do wonder what the SVS would have sounded in my room and now Tonewinner has some subs but I dont think I want to fork out that kind of money to see how they would perform and being in a small room , they are performing like bigger subs. I have hit peaks on my Sound pressure meter of 116 db which again sound great in my room all bass in tight and not boomy and hard hitting and deep and I wish you could hear it ! By chance do you have any specs on what the excursion for this sub is? From the looks of things, the excursion is significant. Also, I see how some brands market their subs as 15 inch subs when they're closer to a 13 inch sub. Are there any more specifics on how the driver is measured? Is it basket edge to basket edge? Oddly the Monolith 13 could be considered a 15 inch driver depending on how you measure. Last question, do you have any sense for the weight of the magnet?
@SpecOfTech
Жыл бұрын
No sorry I don't have the excursion specifics. This driver is measured basket to basket, but that is how most subwoofers are measured. What I can say is that it doesn't have an excessive basket thickness, so the driver is around 13.75" from surround to surround if I remember correct. Sorry I have not removed the drivers, but it must be quite substantial considering the output.

Coming in WAY under the SVS competition with better performance is a joke, you're right. But the joke is on the competition for charging their customers outrageous prices for less performance. Competition for larger brands is a good thing.

Not my experience with the SB1000 Pro. 12 inch driver in a 13 inch sealed box so they fit in a tight space next to my towers. Got a pair for $900 and they sound awesome in my 2 channel setup.

@@SpecOfTech Sorry...great review...just disappointing they're made in China...currently running a set of 12" Sonance subs

@chemicallust77 I have just come to the realization that even if an electronic is assembled outside of China, most the internals are made in China anyway. It's just the state our consumer market is in. Sure, I wish there was more manufacturing done in North America, but that won't change until greed changes...and good luck with that. Enjoy the Sonance subs brother...cheers.

Pretty darn good. Tone winner has some very nice things. If it was you would you get tone winners new $1300 source or a Onkyo z50 or Denon 3800??

I will never go back to Onkyo, I had bad luck with their HDMI boards burning out. I had the Denon 4400 and the Tonewinner sounded quite a bit better, with more clarity and channel separation. If those were my choices, I would choose the Tonewinner.

Why ask the tone winner salesman what product he would buy? What do you think he's going to say?

@@ghostryder8313 If it's the guy making the video, he's not a salesman. He's used anthem, emotiva, Denon, etc.
