It's depressing, actually. And the manager doesn't care that he's ruining the club, after every bad game he's always like "I've won this and that, I have faced this scenario before, we're in transition, it's a process", even to questions that doesn't warrant him bragging. We can see he's bargaining with the board for more time. And the fans are like "Who's gonna replace him", or "It's the players downing tools, they throw managers under the bus". Every single time. Can't two things be true? It's sickening to see the lack of concern, even as a neutral.

The worst thing to have happened to Ten Hag was coming 3rd. He panicked after those two heavy defeats at the start of his United career. So he sacrificed some his principles for results. Maybe he underestimated the premier league or overestimated his own coaching abilities. Ultimately it's not sustainable to coach something you don't really believe in. So you get this mess which is very much feast and famine. A decent run of positive results followed by run of really bad results. The message from the start should have been the process will be painful and slow. Some stars like Rashford, Shaw, or Bruno will need to be sold. Unfortunately that didn't happen. Instead Ten Hag was given over £500m to build whatever this is.

everything you talked about to me shows a lack of leadership and discipline. when players make mistakes, they're not being held accountable by the manager or their teammates on the pitch. who's the defensive leader organizing the back line? who's the leader in midfield? it seems like they're just on auto-pilot in a lot of these matches and they don't play with intent or urgency. and like you also said, seems like they don't have any good plan B for attacking when plan A isn't working. Bruno being the captain is also a big problem because he's the #1 complainer, whiner, diver, etc. who doesn't hold himself accountable so i doubt he's doing it for his teammates either.

You were probably too young to remember how Roy Keane and Gary Neville used to whine and harass to the Refs, just that United were still winning trophies back then compared to now. The other difference back then is all the players would fight till the very end and it wasn’t just one or two players that would hold others accountable. Gary Neville described how Mark Hughes, Keane, Cantona, Schmeichel, would put any players to task, so it wasn’t just the one captain, everyone was a leader and a fighter back then. Now, Ten Hag couldn’t have any outspoken players, or players with Ego in his team. Players have pride and ego for a reason, they come with being a top player. Ten Hag ship out all these players as he couldn’t handle them big players. How are you going to win with no leaders in the team? That’s Ten Hag for you

I feel like if you have 2 players like Zirkzee and Fernandes who aren't the best pressers it's not good to put them in the type of hybrid structure a front 2 requires, Fernandes doesn't know how to cover passing lanes properly when pressing. Also Ten hag man to man approach without proper shapes causes several gaps in the midfield as Ugarte and Mainoo have to run like madmen all the time yet they're alone with no cover from Garnacho nor Rashford who never track back for a 4-4-2 to work, compared to idk, any other coach like Simeone who plays with this system and forced Yannick Ferreira-Carrasco or Koke when he played as a side midfielder to just track back like wingbacks therefore turning the team at times into a 5-3-2 shape. Also another problem is Ten Hag never ever matching the shape of the rival team.

Its on the both ends: 1. Front line: The problem lies with the player who triggers the pressing (mostly Bruno). They always carelessly got baited by opposition build up and forcing the midfield to step up helping, thus creating the problematic gap due to defenders have to manage the line at the same time. Not to mention the poor conversion rate. 2. Back line: Teams are having more and more quick and powerful attacking players therefore defenders who aren't comfortable in high-line and one on one duels are exposed. Solution: not to sack the manager, but to be humble enough by taking a pragmatic approach: play counter attacking style until you got enough cohesion. 1 point of draw is better than having 15.0 XG with zero conversion while conceding 1000 goals at the same time.

I heard today that players and others have praised ten Hag's tactical brilliance, but I haven't seen any such tactics or brilliance this season. The only time I was impressed was the first half against Brighton, but that was all one-touch passes under pressure perfectly placed to a teammate who would do the same. Risky and inconsistent. I think the game is a function of quality chances vs opponents' quality chances, and United are miles off the mark from other teams in the Premier League. I'd like to see ten Hag try a more relational style of play in his last games, as I think it would be fun for the players, the fans, and may suit the quality of the players if they can maintain a semblance of defensive intensity and coordination.

- Very well respected and "up and coming" manager in 2022. - Seems right choice "on paper" so Man United get him so that he can get Ole's counter attacking squad play Ajax ball "instantly" - Realises the squad he has (even with new signings) can't suit a possession style (his original style) after the 4-0 Brentford - Adapts to the squad and choosing a conservative but solid style playing according to the players' strength - Has a really good and impactful 1st season showing how a good coach can turn things around. - Doesn't go back to his orginal ideas at all - Tries to implement more front-foot tactics from 23/24 which the squad isn't suited to at all since Jose and Ole's reign - In 23/24, decides to do something which isn't his expertise by saying "We want to become best transition team in the world" - Doesn't work out from GW 1 but despite lack of personnel and injuries persists with it as "style of play" is imp (Ole was thrown out for that and lack of trophies) - Wins the Cup and no better manager is available - Stays in the job and now with a new squad and 6 games in, hasn't been able to bridge that style gap between possession based and transition based. - The players (not his signings) for whom he choose to go transitional are failing him, in addition to his own tactical flaws. Ffs even if we bring Zidane, will the fans guarantee him time? Or will he be another bald fraud after 1.5 yrs? Tuchel or Inzaghi? Will players disrespect him when he shouts to them on the field?

Tactics is 1 thing; confidence and chemistry is a 2nd important thing. Winning matches will help building confidence. Losing is ofc will break confidence. ManU is inconsistant, for that means lack of focus and confidence. That is part of the managers doing and also players. Not all, but some players. I do think Ten Hag is on his way out and will not turn the tide. A signal for me is when a coach starts to get more of his players with who he had success with (De Ligt and Mazraoui). Another signal is given by the club; you start looking for another manager and in the end you still sit with the old manager; that is not confidence building. Club leadership is also important in building trust. Every time the job of Ten Hag is on discussion; either by the fans or media. I don't believe it is all peace and quiet within the club, they are not alligned they are in this together for a whole season.

Too often, we waste possession with a low percentage ball in a transition attack. Rashford, Bruno, Garnacho, Antony, Mount and Diallo all need to be replaced. In regards to Garnacho and Diallo, I don't think they need to be sold, they should be the rotation options at this point in their careers. I honestly think we're 3 or so players away from being a dangerous team, fans just need to be patient and KZitemrs need to stop exploiting the club!

True, although I disagree with some things you said mostly yes you're right it's like the media wants the manager to get sacked more than the plastic and toxic fans

If you get rid of all those players you're 3 players away from being a dangerous 5 a side team. I've never seen a fanbase to a 'big' team with such a victim mentality

@@MK12275 I think being financially successful is part of your problem. You're never going to be forced into the position of being humbled and having to grow a team of relative nobodies into a cohesive unit because you can always throw 100m at the next big thing in the hopes they'll fix everything.

Signing of de ligt was a really poor profiling. Bad on the ball and likes being the last player of the defense, just like lisandro. They needed a dominant but good reader in the defense to jump out and put pressure on attackers. Ten hags profiling is really bad

The same thing is always there, Man Utd front 4 aren't capable of pressing, both physically and mentally, 442 pressing line-up, Fernandes: weak, slow, Zirkzee: slow, Rashford: fast, weak, and lazy, Garnacho: fast, weak, hard-working. Basically, you need 4 hard-working physical players to high-press. Also, EtH's press tactic has huge loopholes, you have to push forward 1 of your 4 defenders to match the mid-field number, there's no way 2 forwards can mark 3 opponents, including GK, that's 4 vs 2. That's why there're more teams using 352 or 343 to press.

The first goal coceded was pure licha's mistake of passing the ball to United player....he passed the ball to give an assist for spurs player..do you think ETH commanded him to do that??if he passed the ball correctly to United player..that won't be an assist to spurs..down by 1-0 at half time down to 10 men..what could you do in second half???

Bar spurs you can see the tactics. Maybe they just don’t work with these players. United play exactly the same way as Liverpool but with players that are settled.
