@MegaZeta
Жыл бұрын
Everyone saying what they're doing out loud matches almost 1-to-1 to the comics of the era (as do a bunch of these scenes, like the Super-Skrull trying to plant a flag), but the comics had the excuse of trying to tell a story to children with still pictures. And even then, it got pretty silly
@jerr0.
7 ай бұрын
I think the reason is because in the 60's most families only had one TV in the home, sound output was in mono, and there was no rewinding. They wanted to make sure you heard it even if your parents made you keep the volume low, which was often the case.
@gljames24
4 ай бұрын
I think part of it was that readers/writers didn't know a lot of the tropes or concepts that were first developed in this era so they felt like they had to explain themselves. Also the framing of panels/scenes and overall storytelling weren't as well developed.

I always liked this series. Many of the stories were drawn straight from the comics, almost scene for scene! The Super Skrull episode was, especially, but they changed the ending of the episode to feature the finale to the comic ending from the first Skrull encounter, because the censors didn’t want to imply that the Super Skrull was entombed and might die. All in all, great show I watched faithfully as a kid!

@@slang1517 uum, no. That's not it at all. It's more so that we can't hit the moon with anything. We, then and still now, don't have a propulsive force strong enough to effectively fire on anything past the Stratosphere and have it continue with that force without slowing down. Rockets needs shit tons of fuel just to leave orbit and those aren't made to hit something with intent to damage it. As for the 60's, the idea was that if you successfully establish infrastructure on the moon then you have essentially a monopoly of development and more territory over your competitors. Obviously we didnt really know much about the moon then, so pop culture like cartoons and comics is gonna make it sound more important than it is to make it more entertaining to watch. The whole race to space thing was just to see who could get up there first for bragging rights. The amount of resources and money anyone would need to build some sort of missile launch silo on the moon (that works fully as intended) is absurd both before and after inflation came into play.
