It's an overall outstanding vehicle. I get over 50 MPG and just did the first oil change. I needed a reliable commuter car (mass transit is not a viable option for me) plus the ability for extended trips occasionally. Recommended improvements if anyone with Toyota higher leadership is reading this: louder horn, turbocharged engine, plug in capability, and brighter interior lights.

One problem with my 2023 Corolla hybrid is the fancy headlights. In the center area directly in front of you are two shadows that stick down into the lit part. The first time I drove the car at night while turning, it literally looked like an animal running across the street directly in front of the car. I jammed on my brakes so I would not hit it. Only to realize it was a defect in the headlight array. My dealer said to me that the lights are not adjustable so just get used to it. Maybe they will fix it in the future. The real problem will be the day an actual animal is running across my path and I ignore it and hit it. This is a real safety problem with this headlight design and get used to it is not a proper response.

Purchased a 2024 Corolla Hybrid XLE as a replacement for a buy back 2023 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid Limited. The Elantra had more passenger and trunk room, more cubby storage, quicker acceleration, larger 10.25" screens (vs 7 & 8 ") and ventilated seats. The Corolla has softer "pseudo leather" seats, a bit better mpg (55.6 after 700 miles), smoother suspension, a more conventional cabin and traditional exterior. The optional JBL 800 watt/9 speaker stereo in the Corolla sounds a little better than the 8 speaker Bose in the Elantra but both fill the cabin quite well. Lastly, the Corolla was $2K cheaper. The main reason for the buy though is reliability as the Hyundai's battery died within three weeks. Pleased with the "boring" Corolla so far.

Toyota isn’t the only one effected by the chip shortage. The problem for Toyota is with high gasoline prices hybrids are in huge demand. This is a good thing for Toyota. They already sell more vehicles than anyone else and the lead will just get bigger as they can increase production.

@@sammyjammy6647 I looked at both the Rav hybrid and the Venza before buying my Forester. I did NOT like the Rav at all. I had a 2011 Rav 4WD Limited with the 3.5 V6 and loved it, but the new Rav Limited wasn’t near as nice. The fit and finish wasn’t as good. The seats weren’t as comfortable and the rear visibility was in the toilet. The AWD system was subpar unless I went with the TRD. I simply wasn’t impressed with it at all. I loved the Venza but the rear visibility was just like the Rav and the only interior colors on the Venza was Gloomy Grey or Boring Black, which became popular in 1990. To insure the Venza was a $1K more per year for the Venza and $700 more yearly on the Rav. I love my Forester Touring with the Saddle Brown leather. After I sold my Rav and bought my Forester my insurance Dropped by $300 a year. I asked my agent why it dropped and she told me that it was bc the Outback and Forester achieved the IIHS Safety Plus award and are some of the safest vehicles on the road, surpassing Volvo. Furthermore when I have to take my dad anywhere I would have to fold down the rear seat to accommodate his wheelchair, whereas I can leave the seats up with the Forester. I'm afraid I have to disagree with several points. I see zero value in getting the hybrid option in the Corolla. The regular Corolla gets *amazing* mileage (30 City 41 Highway).... Gas isnt' expensive here like it is in Europe - a combined 35 MPG is great! I disagree the most about "The Corolla is a better buy than the 2023 Prius." No way - do yourself a favor and test drive both (if you do decide a Hybrid is for you). The base 2023 Prius LE ($27,000 USD) is MILES ahead of the super boring Corolla. The 2023 Prius @ 194HP is actually fun to drive. The 2023 Corolla (regular or Hybrid) is as boring as it gets.
