I’d argue the last generation of panthers were by far the best American sedans ever built. Perhaps one of the best sedans the world has ever seen. My ‘02 drives like a new car after I changed the rear end, and the inside of the engine looks barely broken in. No other car has the sheer dependability that the panthers do.

The last of the Detroit "Real Steel" vehicles. My cousin had a former 2004 Florida Highway Patrol Vic with the upgraded ECU that was basically mine when I was 16. Then my boss had a 2008 Crown Vic LX (Grandma Special) and he let me drive it whenever I wanted. TBH I preferred the LX Because of the luxury options and that butter smooth transmission.

Last year i bought myself an unmarked 2011 P7B used by a local PD's detective with 10,000 miles marker in pristine condition for $1,000. The reason they sold the car was because she was deemed a surplus vehicle so she was rarely driven. I consider myself lucky to bought her because she was a detective car that is properly maintained like federal vehicles instead of typical bent and poorly maintained regular police car, which is exactly what i wanted. My mates often ask me why would i want to own a police car, especially a Crown Victoria. Well, dependability is my paramount consideration. She runs forever, she has a decent amount of speed, she can take beatings since she is basically a four-wheel tank. My most favourite part, she puts people's respect on me even though i never ask for it so i can always mind my own business. She keeps people out of my way on the motorways and becomes an instant deterrent for cocky and stroppy drivers from harassing me. I even once driving slowly on the right lane and i saw people queuing up behind me waiting for me to accelerate. Sometimes people also wave when they pass me, thinking i am a cop. My wife even named her Elizabeth because she is impressed with her longevity like the late Queen Elizabeth II and i have called her with it ever since 😁 The other good thing, her spare parts are interchangeable with other Panther platform cars or even other older Ford vehicles. Me and my mate went to a scrap yard after i wanted to change my Crown Victoria's radio and he wanted to change his own's centre console. While i got myself a Mercury Grand Marquis' radio, since i love to play my CDs in my car, he got himself a 2002 Ford Explorer's centre console. Both fit very well in our respective cars and do not loose or wobble at all despite they were not designed to be fitted in a Crown Victoria It was the best $1,000 i have ever spent and i have no regret at all. I want to drive her for the next 30 years if i can. Long live the grand old lady Crown Victoria

I live in Romania and we have a car named Dacia Logan. The 2006 model was used both as police patrol cars and taxi cabs lol. It was so classic I cried when I heard they are not producing them anymore. They kinda do with newer models but they changed the design and it dosent look like the old one. I can feel the pain Americans feel knowing the crown vic is dead.

Most people still don't realize their true value, I mean honestly the cars are really perfect in everything you want, first they have a truly reliable V8 which sounds great and has great mileage and has decent hp for the reliability it offers, can be used in drifting, easy to fix from front to rear, comfortable, has good head turning looks when clean, has a huge aftermarket support, oh and it has a solid body that can survive a zombie Apolocalypse and also it's very safe inside, not to mention it's crazy passenger and trunk space and it's weight is Light in comparison with the things that it offers so Really what more does someone want from a Legendary Daily driver. Although you have the Crown Victoria I honestly prefer my Marquis and My Towncar on it which makes sense considering Lincoln was the luxurious version.

Is it wrong of me to want to body swap my 78 thunderbird on to one of these crown vics? I don't like the idea of scraping a crown vic body for that same reason you stated of them being the last of their kind but the same goes for the old big birds. And my chassis is completely wore our and will be a lot more work to restore than just to put my body on a newer chassis. And these crown vics are sweet cars with tons of benefits and it's just a shame to see these guys buying them up to race them around and crash them up.

the thing that annoys me about those and I have one is that they didn't all come standard with a limited slip differential only some of them did usually the 3.55 ratio axle the 3.27 ratio was usually an open differential and in my opinion open differentials should be obsolete by now but even as far back as the LTD was rolled out in the 80s open differentials should have be obsolete back then I don't get why car manufacturers still put open differentials in front wheel drive and rear wheel drive cars I guess there cheaper to build but they absolutely suck especially on a rear wheel drive car like why they shouldn't exist anymore on cars like why do car manufacturers still use them and this goes for all cars not just rear wheel drive cars like the crown victoria all though they should be even more relevant on rear wheel drive cars that already have bad enough in the snow as it is.
