As stated by Yoda, the Force comes from Life. Life nurisihes it, makes it grow, if I recall correctly. The Force could not exist without life, nor could life exist without the Force. As long as life continues, the Force can grow, so on an individual level, the Force cares not who lives and dies, as long as the enviroment continues living. A superweapon like the Death Star wipes out that enviroment in a single instant, to such an extent where life simply cannot continue, nor grow again. This is the wound in the Force Stupendous Wave talks about. So you can have all your fancy lightsaber battles that you want as long as it's small groups who die and not the *entire planet*. The Dark Side may be about change, but it certainly as hell does not wish to *stop existing*. Of course, then we get to the Yuuzang Vong which kind of throws a monkey wrench into the above statements, so do with it as you will.

Other than that they were very much in biological manipulation (comparisons to using Sith Alchemy to reshape the living might be apt here), a huge anti-technological stance and an immunity or great resistance to the Force, I haven't read much lore of them. I recall them being 'rejected' or 'jettisoned' from the Force, but more as a backup plan to replace life in case the infighting between the Light and Dark sides caused a massive extinction (... caused by superweapons like the Death Star?), rather than something the Vong themselves did. I thought they were more or less left to their own devices by the Force. Perhaps I should seek out a holocron of Stupendous Wave dealing with these beings, if one exists.

Something that just struck me when reading your comment, Vader especially knows this to be true because he's living proof. Following his defeat on Mustafar, Vader relies on mechanical parts to stay alive and thus his force potential was greatly reduced. He's partially thinking about what he could've been if he didn't need the suit. It sucks that legends and the non-film canon lore always show Vader as this unstoppable Sith. They miss the point of his defeat, they miss the point of why Sidious wanted Luke instead of Vader.
@tromedlovdrolmai

@@asmrreviews8979 To be fair, Vader as a true Sith was nearly unstoppable. Despite his limitations, he was still immensely powerful in the Force. The few canon times Vader did lose was because of interactions that forced Anakin's life to resurface in his thoughts. Anakin was always the Achilles Heel of Vader. Yes, Palpatine wanted Luke, but until he first learned of Luke, he settled on Vader for lack of anywhere near as much Force potential in anyone else in the Galaxy. Which is why Yoda knew Luke and Leia had to be hidden from the Empire. If Palpatine knew they were alive, he absolutely would've kidnapped one or both as infants, and raised them as a true Sith.
@asmrreviews8979

@@tromedlovdrolmai I guess that's where I disagree. If Palpatine knew of Padme's medical condition, then I find it hard to believe that he wouldn't have known about the kids too. Sidious wasn't going to take the time to train a kid when he had just become emperor. So, he waited to see which one showed the most potential before making a move. Exactly the same way he watched Vader's career "with great interest" before trying to convert him. Sidious would've kept this knowledge from Vader for three reasons: 1. He views familial love as a weakness. 2. He knew that Vader would want to overthrow him with Luke (he was right of course). 3. If Sidious (and/or Plagueis) was responsible for Anakin's conception, then he would've truly believed that Luke was his to control.

There are several series of books by Jeff Wheeler, that while not an exact 1:1 comparison, I think embodies an excellent example of the Force. In these books there is a power know as "The Fountain" it encompasses everything (similar to the force) and guides those who can hear it to do great things. These "Fountain Blessed" are fairly similar to the jedi of the Star Wars universe but have more specialized powers. Anyway, the Fountain is neither good nor evil, but does not align itself with those who have used its gifted powers (or powers obtain through other means) for evil purposes. When something like that happens. A person becomes corrupted by their power as king, or a Fountain Blessed abuses their powers, the Fountain would seek to rebalance things. Guiding someone who seeks to do good in the world to help and bring balance.

I was surprised it wasn't mentioned (Though explaining it would add 30min to the video)...but Kreia's interpretation of the force seems to me to be a parallel of the real physical forces that govern our universe (a la Determinism)...we never seem to be in control, there is always some deeper and more basic forces in the chain of causality that creates the universe and manipulates the things we see. It almost becomes a perfect parallel when we look into things like quantum mechanics and find that we cannot make sense of the rules...is there a controlling influence behind that level? How would we know even if we could find it? It's the question we've been struggling with since the dawn of philosophy, "What is existence, is there something beyond the universe we experience?" The force is very real in Star Wars, so is there anything beyond that? (We could get into the original conception of the Book of the Whills, but that's a whole other discussion...lol...)

From other sources we also know that they are aligned with the light side of the force as the Sith need to make the kyber crystals bleed in order to create their red-colored lightsabers. So the question is, if the Force hated the Death Star so much, why did it not make the kyber crystals in the superlaser fail and explode? Bang, two birds with one stone - Alderaan saved, superweapon destroyed. I know, Ep IV would have been kinda lame with the superlaser sputtering and dying... Also, the Force is kinda hypocritical... Villain: Imma just smash this planet and maybe dat one too.... Force: No, you cannot snuff out life in an eyeblink on such a massive scale like that. Dat wounds me... and I get pissed and you don't want me get pissed Villain: Damn... then Imma kill them by the million... is dat okay? Force: Fine, go ahead. When palpatine and plagueis , based on their novel I believe, pushed against the force in one of their experieme the the force pushed back bringing Anakin into existence. The Jedi and their contemporaries just got used to associating sith with dark side and couldn't see them apart. @@ValirianDefiance I always thought that balance meant the Jedi knowing about dark side energies but not indulging in them. Anakin was supposed to be the example of a Jedi exposed to so much dark side energy who still maintained his good side that no Jedi would ever overindulge again (This is what Luke accomplished btw.) Jedi don't want to destroy the dark side so much as merely acknowledge it. Yoda for instance lived next to a cave with dark side energy on Dagobah. Jedi want to destroy the Sith who are individuals that indulge in dark side activities in secret. The Sith traditionally are like serial killers who hide their evil acts away from others. A superweapon built by the Sith however is usually out in the open and acts like a beacon for light siders to destroy it. I can see why Sith generally don't like giant superweapons for this reason.

I have a Star Wars OC who's also a walking wound in the force, an OC who forgot his original name but had adopted the name the citizens of The Galaxy had given him as his own, though with much annoyance with it, Darth Plague, Darth Plague *HATES* The Sith, but this is the closest he has to a name so he's stuck with it. Anyways, the wound in the force he represents is Order 66 itself, and instead of using this new found harmed connection to the force for selfish reasons, he uses this new found power to ensure that something like he just went through will *never* happen again.

So superweapons don't align with the Dark Side, but rather with chaos and destruction in a way that unbalances the force as a whole? If we connect the Dark Side to the Son, I can't help but then connect the nature of these kinds of superweapons to Aboleth.

Dark or light, the force depends on the energy of life itself. It is not surprising that anything that is designed to destroy life on a huge scale would be apposed by the dark side of the force since those deaths would weaken it, even threaten its existence. No life, no force, no dark side.

Is that why those proton torpedoes made a 90 degree turn for no reason?
@dungeonguy88

Pretty sure that was Luke using the Force to move them telekinetically. Since they were unguided torpedoes, that would be the only way Luke could have made the shot.

@@dungeonguy88 I think the explanation involves the physics of the Death Star and the way the exhaust port works. I don’t think it was Luke. He’d just learned what the force was a day or two prior. And two years later he was still struggling to pull his saber out of the snow.
@dungeonguy88

@@DirtyDemon917 Exhaust ports literally push things out. That is their core purpose. Not to suck things in. As the torpedoes were unguided, with no targeting data, the only way they could turn at all is by an external force moving them. The exhaust port, by definition, wouldn't pull them into itself. Which leaves the only other likely contender. The Force. Which has telekinesis as one of its most commonly seen abilities for its wielders. Deductive reasoning. The only thing it could have been is Luke using the Force to move the torpedoes into the exhaust port himself.

@@dungeonguy88 I’m not an expert on the technical workings of the Death Star and how it’s shielding reacts with proton torpedoes. There’s a LOT of theories out there with a quick search. The truth is it was for plot convenience. Lucas wanted the fighters to fly along a latitudinal trench but then also launch a missile at the core at high speed from the trench. He didn’t have time to think of how they’d rotate. But the farm boy using telekinesis to turn the torpedoes 90 degrees two days after learning about the force did not happen. If you use deductive reasoning the other way, say you don’t believe any theories as to why they turned, then please tell me what the rebels plan was. By your logic telekinesis was a necessity. Was Porkins aware he would need to use force telekinesis to land the shot? Also, if you use complete deductive reasoning you’ll discover that there was one more force user in the trench. A powerful force user with decades of experience. Vader. Also, you could argue that Vader had more of a motive to blow up the Death Star than Luke. He was the only imperial to voice his displeasure with the battle station in the film. As we saw, come ESB Vader was a much higher rank with tarkin dead. Vader was spinning around in space when the torpedoes went in but it’s still more likely than Luke being the one.

@@DirtyDemon917 Point of Order: Torpedoes can turn on their own IF they have targeting data to follow. Which was the whole point of the targeting computers, to tell the torpedoes to fly down the exhaust port. Luke did not use his targeting computer. All of the other pilots DID use their targeting computers, in the hopes that the torpedoes would be able to make the abrupt turn. And again, exhaust ports push things out of them. They don't suck things in. And Darth Vader was focusing all of his attention on shooting down Luke at the time. And by the time Luke had made his shot, Han had already disrupted his flight, causing him to spiral out of control. Also, there were other Imperials that thought the Death Star was wildly impractical. Also failing to protect the Death Star would put Darth Vader on Palpatine's shit-list. So he has a very good reason to defend it, no matter how he feels about it. Luke guided the unguided torpedoes into the exhaust port with telekinesis. He was the only one with the ability to do so and the motive.

The Sith have more in common with the Jedi than they would admit. They see the Dark Side only as power for themselves and a weapon of destruction, disregarding the true will of the Force. Equally, with the exception of a few Jedi like Qui-Gon Jinn, the Jedi Order became far too politicized and weren't servants of the Force so much as peacekeepers of the Republic. Neither faction served the Force as much as they believe they did.

Call it dumb, but I have a head canon that I DESPERATELY wish was taken advantage of. I always thought that when a super weapon or emperor appeared, it was due to a third-party: Abaloth. Being a cancer in the force she feeds upon destruction that does not beget life, and if enough entropy is induced it would give her the window needed to fully escape her prison. Thus comes the need for a champion of the force to arrive and prevent the damage from becoming worse. Heck, they could have made her the big bad in episode 9, and become a threat that could fuel the Disney furnace as infanatum. ... ... ... But no, force forbid that we could find a way to tie in old and new starwars IP's...

Most people like to bring up Darth Nihilus when they think of Darth Vader's quote: “Don’t be too proud of this technological terror which you’ve constructed, the ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the force.” But I always think of Naga Sadow, who could use the Force to rip out the hearts of stars and cause them to go supernova. And unlike Darth Nihilus, Naga Sadow has been made canon, though his life and accomplishments are hazy compared to his Legends incarnation.

The Force, even the Dark Side, May despise superweapons, but in my Fanon Star Wars universe, there is one cosmic power that relishes in their creation and use: Sel-The’on, or the Secret Fire. Sel-The’on is a being of neither Light, Dark, nor Balance; it is utter Void and Nothingness. It seeks nothing less than to destroy the Force and all it touches, and will not stop until Nothing is the only thing that exists. As it is not of the Force itself, it does not care at all about Wounds in the Force, and thus views the creation of planet-killing superweapons that can destroy life on a planetary scale as the ultimate form of worship of and service to it.

Kind of makes you wonder if all things in this video are true what the living force thought of second tier super weapons ie ones that could conquer with the potentially for destruction yet not relying on just the destructive power. Weapons like the star forge. The star forge was used to completely dominate sentient life and had the power to destroy via the ships it made yet it itself did not kill.

In almost any way you can think, the Death Star was a terrible idea. It's a massive example of a "put all your eggs in one basket" military tactic. A creation so big and dangerous that the hope is that nobody would challenge it, or you. But if it goes down, then boom, a massive chunk of your intimidation factor goes with it. Plus, as a single battlestation it means it can only be in one place at a time, and galaxies are huge, so when big conflicts rise up it can only be deployed at single fronts out of potentially millions. On top of that, destroying a planet means completely wiping out whatever value that planet might have had, be it population, resources or just its location. Whatever benefits the station might have provided are utterly dwarfed by the negatives 🤔

The force is like a chaos god from 40K. It grants few select beings the ability to channel it's power/self. It need living being to fuel it (thru emotion or devotion) thus why genocides and mass death not liked. It manipulate galactic events to it's own design (mainly Tzeentch). And both have good guys vs bad guys..... well Star wars has good guys

I thought the Death Star was constructed due to the fact of a HUGE ALIEN invasion was going to happen. I talking about million of combat ships with billions of fighters. Its Balance, the same as life. Life wants everything to grow, Death wants everything to stop. Imagine a world without anything dying - people ripped in half due to injuries would continue to live. People with fatal diseases would continue to live, spreading those diseases and causing mass suffering. Growth would spiral out of control, causing mass famine etc. Now imagine a world without life, only with death - no new life to replace the old. Plants would not regrow, farming would collapse, in one lifetime all humans would be wiped off the face of the world. Chaos, famine and disaster come from both no Life or Death - a Balance of the two causes growth to continue.
