The issue lies not with the truck itself, but rather with the drivers. I have operated medium-sized trucks, predominantly Mitsubishi Fh models, for over five years. While driving this particular truck, a distinctive awareness is ingrained due to the absence of brakes. So, one must exercise constant caution to avoid situations that require the use of the emergency brake. I recommend anyone operating this truck approach it with the same mindfulness as driving an FH. If you lack experience with an FH, seek advice from a seasoned FH driver for valuable tips.

I believe drivers are the problem. Every time you encounter the slay queen, the driver is always engaging exhaust brake even on level surface. In this way , he misuses the much needed air for braking. when the driver encounters an emergency, air in the circuit is so low to have the required braking pressure. Drivers need to change that attitude and mature! The sound of the exhaust brake is a nuisance when not necessary.

Its clear its a manufacturers defect or in our case the vehicle assembler (G.M East Africa) but the manufacturer is able absorb the blame with marketing or truck design specification that clearly indicates or states its a town delivery truck or short distance run truck with capacity of 11tonnes, if you want an off town truck for long hauling the 6cylinder ft.... series are available. Now the misconception there inn -is the truck replaced the old FRR which shared all aspect with Fvr, Fsr, except for the chassis brake drums, and the axles and thats the reason customers adopted the new frr90 as equal replacement of frr33. On my own research i have noted the new frr90 is the only truck at its class with full air over hydraulic brake system that is fitted with 16inch brake drums and 17.5 rims all other trucks whether TaTa, mitsubishi F1, Leyland Ashok, Jac, volvo Fe, all the camions at the same class are with 19.5 brake drums and 22.5 rims .....

Maybe the new 4cylinder has inevitably less powerful exhaust braking effect than the previous 6cylinder one?? And maybe ma probox drivers have now graduated to truck driving?

Isuzus including here in Japan, I drive a treiller and I have experienced break failure twice, taken it back to maker but no change. The full air system leaks too soo and the trailer looses air on steep hills and fails on auto system to go up hill unless you convert to manual. You cannot compare the speeds of any Isuzu vehicle but breaks will fail you. So in the case of an emergency please go to lowest gear manually even if it means killing the engine and gear box !! You’ll be alive to demand manicure default!! European trailers and trucks are the ultimate!! Especially Russian although they don’t sell in Africa!! Please get MAN of scania or Benz or Renault!! Hino is twice as useless both in speed, load capacity and brakes!! Old model had the back trailer brakes incase the engine front breaks failed but now there’s soo much technology they are inventing that’s actually useless and dangerous!!

I think the drivers who used to drive the old FRR have not had that kind of power before. Almost all FRR 90s I see on the road are being driven carelessly. No amount of brakes will help them kikiumana.

Poor mechanism. Experienced drivers say Sometimes it loses sense of break , when you press again it , Sense may résumé with emergency braking.
