+Rockstarr303 Dragic's value is showing itself even with the Heat. As inconsistent as he is, he is still a threat to be able to attack the hoop and hit stop up jumpers off a pass. Brandon Knight sadly is nothing like the player Dragic has shown to be so far. He's good at spot jumpers as well but he's not a threat to attack the hoop. Granted Knight is cheaper in terms of long term salaries but Dragic is a real reliable option.

for the record, I it would have been a great idea to keep both of the Morris twins. Don't love their volatility, but both are good players, they can easily share the court playing at the 3 and 4, and when they do they have that sort of chemistry that you can only built by being brothers. Reminds me of when I get to play with my little brother. We both know instinctively where the other will be, what the other will do, and how to play to each others strengths and weaknesses. For example, my brother knows that if he camps from deep, I will either 1. get to the cup uncontested or 2. draw his defender and hit my brother, who is a much better range shooter than I, for an open look. we honestly just know what the other will do before it even happens, and it makes us nightmare to compete against if we play together

+HUBERT CUMBERDALE yeah I feel that too. Like he should be that true 2nd option that hides as a 3rd option when Wade is doing well. But he's way too inconsistent. @t4d0W
8 жыл бұрын
+thesleepingfist regarding the Blazers it all comes down to Alridge. If he walks away then its not worth putting big money on guys with injury histories like Wes Mathews and Nic Batum. So officially it became a rebuild project by surrounding Lillard with new talent and making it work. Batum got traded for Henderson and the real prize, Noah Vonleh who is a project. Blazers let Matthews walk because they got McCollum. And they just focused on getting young talent to fill the holes like Plumlee, Davis, Aminu and Harkless.

IMO, gm's shouldn't be allowed to fire coaches mid-season unless the coach is REALLY, REALLY bad and causing unrepairable locker room problems (coughcoughbyronscottcoughcough). jeff hornecek, lionel hollins, kevin McHale, david blatt were all put in impossible situations from the start of this season and somehow the gm's of those teams think it's the coach's fault, not their own. (well, at least the nets also canned billy king while they were at it, gotta give them that credit. also, the cavs have been doing better, so we'll see how that goes for them.) mind you, I don't think firing a coach shouldn't be allowed. I just think firing a coach midseason is basically throwing away the season in most cases; the interim coach is basically thrown into the fire and asked to get up to speed and start winning ASAP (no way that happens).

Thanks Coach :-) I feel bad for Hornacek. It's this "win now" culture. Front Offices don't want to wait and actually BUILD a contender. The moment a big name comes on the market, "Dump the whole team!" It's this shortsightedness and "Stars In The Eyes" syndrome that breaks up promising teams. I understand trades are a part of BBall and building a contender, but this whole "sell the team to get LBJ or Aldrige" or whoever don't work most of the time. Nine times out of ten, it blows up in the FO's face. Even when it does and you get the player you want, it doesn't mean that one guy will automatically save the team (look at the Melo lead Knicks) Worst part is, FO is never called to the carpet. Instead, Hornacek gets thrown under the bus. I hope he can find a team w/ a better FO.

I feel bad for Phoenix's past 3 seasons. If they didn't get rid of the Morris twins, made their pay equal, kept Goran and Zoran, Kept Thomas, Frye and Len, this team would be probably in the top 10 of offensive and defensive rating. Len and Frye and would have been great bigs. Combine the ability to shoot the 3 of Thomas, the Morris twins, Goran, Frye, Booker and Teletovic. Goodwin, Bledsoe and Knight CAN run PG, just not that good. Thomas and Dragic should have stayed. Knight and Bledsoe can go to another team while those two can dominate in Phoenix. A great role player, 2-3 good PG's, a solid center and the Morris twins, this team would dominate. They have great players who can shoot the 3. This was just bad decision making by the GM. The 3 ball shooters can space the floor, big set a pick, and drive and kick and this team will dominate.
@werhole

By Aldridge's own account, the final decision was between the Suns and Spurs and was very close. Getting the Suns to that position was not a mistake. If you run a play which gets your shooter wide open, its still a good play even if he happens to miss. Overall though, the Suns have indeed fallen apart, due mostly to bad ownership. Although I am not a huge fan of Hornacek, there is no amount of improved coaching that would fix the team as its constructed.

very in depth breakdown. I never knew so much was going on in Phoenix. Yes the decisions management makes plays a huge role in the success of the team, and from what you showed, they made some really bad decisions. What I wonder is how much input did Horny have in those decisions? And when the team's defense is good or bad the head coach is usually the reason. Also, I never heard of assistant coaches getting fired like that. That's unusual to me. Does the head coach fire the assistants? I wonder why they were fired? Phoenix seems a mess right now.. The problems Phoenix are having make the issues in Sacramento look miniscule

+The Healthiest Skeptic Ryan McDonough is the GM who was hired in the 2013 offseason and assembled the group AND hired Hornacek as a coach. So I'm assuming he's the leading voice in making personnel changes (trades, signings) as well as taking input from coaches and hiring assistant coaches. I think McDonough hasn't admitted to bad personnel changes he's made and in the NBA where its a players league, its easy to make the coach a scapegoat even when you absolutely cannot win consistently with a hot mess of players.

It didn 't have much to do who was the coach. Dragic made them win 48 games, then next season he played bad and later he was traded to Miami where he played well again and helped the Heat in the Playoffs. But in the long term, the Suns weren't wrong to trade him because he is now a veteran and they need to rebuild their point guard position, they have nothing there.

Even coach nick cant stand the damn owner and management of the team. Yes the coach is flawed, he clearly lost the locker room, but he wasn't the root of the problem. Owner and GM are the root of the problem. I read an article calling Ryan a "bright" young up and coming (something like that) GM... He traded for cap space over the summer WITHOUT having any confirmation that the team can land LA... It's like buying petrol before buying a car... WHO DOES THAT!?!?!?!

My only problem with this video: You made it seem like we had no shot at Aldridge. He was 50-50 and even leaning towards us at certain points during the offseason. The LeBron pursuit was farfetched but this was not. We gambled heavily by trading Marcus and signing TC, but if he chose us that would be praised. It should still be praised because the Spurs traded Splitter for almost nothing as well, and if LA chose us they would have regretted that as well. It could of went either way so our pursuit of him shouldn't be mocked.

I am very curious how much pressure/influence McDonough had after the 48 win season to upgrade the roster as soon as possible. I mean he assembled what looks like the core and Hornacek who had an idea what do with that roster. I'm assuming Sarver started waxing nostalgia of the time the Suns were sorta competitive in the mid 2000's and wanted to see a team that can make the playoffs by next year within any means. Which led to management (led by McD) to make these sketchy free agent moves. Then when it looks like the roster wasn't going to work, he moves pieces again but continues to lose the core that he was going to work with. And now not only does management and McDonough have nothing more from the core he assembled 2 years ago, but a scapegoat of a coach and his staff who couldn't win games with a hot mess anyway. And as expected, Sarver getting angry at something his team going one step forward and two steps back. As for Aldridge being close to signing with the Suns, I'm glad he didn't. Spurs at 1-5 are vastly superior and their bench look so much better. The Suns roster at that time has an old ass Chandler, no real wing defenders and a back court that is volatile since its only as good as Bledsoe is healthy. No Bledsoe means nobody strong enough to attack the rim and keep defenses honest to space for shooters. That isn't a winning situation for Aldridge.

+ED SON it's going to be interesting to see what offense we implement... the guards may be interested now since they know that it may not be so much triangle being involved

Exactly. For conley, it's hard to lure him away from San Antonio who can offer him an established roster and a possible championship. With Memphis he has the money security and the trust of the staff. Would love to see him in NY but it's going to be interesting in the offseason.

But this was one was over the edge. This GM was in fantasy mode. Lebron was gonna sign with Heat or Cavs. Aldridge was only considering Spurs, Lakers, and Raptors. How he thought they had a chance on them is beyond me

need to do a video on how the fuck cavs lost to Charlotte when they didnt have kemba walker and Charlotte had twice as many turnovers as clevaland and still snabed a W. it is unheard for a team to have twice as many turnovera and still fucking win esp against the best record in the conference

Coach nick, do a video on the Miami heat's play with Whiteside on and off the floor. It seems to that miami are playing much better with Whiteside out, trade him?

I still can't believe they signed Tyson Chandler to a 4 year 52 million dollar deal. Seriously, what were they thinking?

Absolutely agree with u coach Nick. I think the whole deal of the Suns' tragedy is based on their hallucination of their double headed monster, if only they don't sign Isaiah thomas, maybe Dragic will stay happy and Suns can concentrate on finding the next Channing Frye.

I knew they were fucked when they traded channing. Then acquired additional guards, and ultimately traded Dragic. Hopefully Coach Hornacek finds a good organization, hes a quality coach.

I hate the culture of firing coaches so regularly. The team is not bad because of the coach, it's bad because the players aren't good. Bringing in another isn't going to 360 your franchise and make you a contender right away.

Front office fucked it all up. That 48 win season with a young roster and an improving defensive big in Alex Len could have been something scary. Not to mention Goran just came off a would be MVP season and was clearly on his peak... Suns clearly shot themselves on the foot and were being greedy sons of bitches. Invest in the talent you have instead of constantly trying to get the big names. You are not NYK, LA or Miami. Talent will never come to you unless you're a proven winner (like the Spurs). The front office basically spat on everyone who worked their ass off to get to 48 wins.
