100% user error. The minute hand is calibrated each time you set the time....by the user. It works this way on all movements including Miyota, and excepting micromoter fired computer controlled hands (like casioak), some citizens, etc. To correctly set it, stop (hack) the watch by pulling the crown all the way out when the second hand reaches 12 o'clock. Then set the minute hand to the NEXT minute being sure to be exactly on the marker. Then, when the actual time reaches that minute, push the crown all the way in being careful to not rotate it. There you go, the minute hand is now exactly on the marker when the new minute starts. I you do this wrong, and have the minute hand in between two markers when the second hand is at 12 o'clock, you end up with what you're describing in this video. It's not so much that the watch doesn't know how to tell time as the user doesn't know how to set a watch ;)

Push pull on my Casio MRW-200H, and it’s got 4 screws for the caseback, it’s 100M and it passes pressure testing no problem, that’s after a year of abuse and wear and tear as a daily work watch. I’m a fan of push pull crowns, 100M is all I’ll ever need. I love the movement, I have the same movement in my Tissot Couturier, but I noticed my date wheel does get a bit stuck and awkward so that’s not cool. Personally I’d love a Tissot PRX, for the money, it’s pure class. I’d say $200 should be its price point though. @williamthomas6106

The minute hand on my PRX is just fine. I recently synchronized my PRX with my Citizen Atomic Timekeeping Blue Angels watch over a week ago, and the hand alignment is just fine. I think that quartz on the PRX is the way to go as it is essentially a reissue of the 1978 Quartz Seastar. The Tissot Seastar branding has been repurposed to cover their "dive watches", so a new brand was understandable to avoid confusion. And PRX works. So having this watch in Quartz just seems natural, as the original on which it was based was also quartz. Mine has lost about 2 seconds in the last week, which is pretty good for a standard quartz movement. Anything under a +/- 15 second a month deviation is ok in my book. Complaining about Minute and or Hour Hand alignment is understandable. And I would definitely be concerned with one that routinely didn't line up the minute hand. It's when folks complain about second hand alignment, is when my blood starts to boil. Backlash and slight off centered placement of the movement is the primary cause of this, and this occurs in automatics as well. Anything with a gearing system has to have backlash, or the gears won't properly mesh, and off center placement can and will occur with thermal variations in the watch, as well as the anti shock material used to cushion the movement in the case. It's not noticeable in an automatic because an automatic second hand sweep is typically 3hz or greater, so you simply can't detect it like you can with the single 1hz "tick" of a quartz. The only way to counter this, is either through the use of mechanisms to maintain alignment like that in "The Citizen" or to utilize a movement where the stepper motor runs at 4hz or greater (as in the Bulova Precisionist) Neither option is very practical, as the "mechanism" to achieve alignment in "The Citizen" is much too expensive to be used in standard quartz movements, and to use a stepper motor that runs at 4hz or beyond really reduces effective battery life. Do you really want to be replacing your battery yearly? I love my Automatics, but I do acknowledge that Quartz is easier to live with on a daily basis, than my automatics. And to dismiss quartz because of a "flaw" that really isn't one, is ridiculous to me. So it's pretty intellectually dishonest to complain that "second hand misalignment" is a QC issue when it is common in quartz movements, and environmental issues can cause the alignment to get better or worse on a specific piece on a daily basis.

The same thing can happen with an automatic watch of any quality. The seconds hand is not linked to the gear train for the minutes hand. If you pull the crown out and hack the seconds hand and thirty seconds and then set the minute hand to to an index on the dial, when you start the watch again the minute hand will be between markers when the seconds hand reached 12. There is also play/slack in the gear train that can cause this, but usually not so bad that the minute hand is dead center between markers.

If it is, and the crown isn't rotated when being pushed it, it will continue to be aligned. If it's not on the marker when the second hand is at 12, it will continue to be off. Well the gears got play between the meshing teeth, and they used steel and brass parts for the gear and pinion so.... Yeah it'll need a bit time to catch up, and it'll keep the parts last longer cz of less friction in that way, and it's still serviceable. Japanese quartz won't do these because its gears made out of plastic, there's no need for a play cz the teeth meshing plastic against plastic, supposedly would cause a high friction but it's plastic so the friction is still "lighter" compared to metal, and also you gotta throw the whole movement and install a new one if it is broken so... Unless if it's a high end watches that used LIGA tech to produce their gears which made every single teeth act like a spring so even if they were to be put in a high friction situation, the springy teeth would compensate for that and there would be no play between the teeth but it'll be about for watches that was selling in grands of dollars

I don’t buy the FUD you are pushing with the use of plastic in a watch movement. That is the same criticism people throw at the PRX Powermatic 80 with the plastic escapement. Have you tried adjusting how you set the minute hand? Sometimes there’s a little play in the gears so there’s some “uptake” before they engage once you set the crown back to its first position. I’ve had this with some valjoux based chronographs, and some eta 2824 watches too. Even my Speedmaster Racing (7750 based movement) does it occasionally. It seems to be fixed by first winding the minute hand out to a few minutes ahead of true time, then slowly winding the minute hand back to true time and then engaging the crown to the first position. Maybe that helps.

Hang on, is this satire? If the watch hacks, you can line up the minute hand…just like any watch that hacks. I totally agree that the watch is a little overhyped, but I don’t get the movement complaint.

What if you back set to the correct time. So you overshoot your intended by 5 min then move the minute hand backwards to the correct time. That may engage the gears after setting. I get that there are some watches that don’t require that but I feel like there are plenty where this is an issue.

I went yesterday to pick up the Powermatic 80. While I was there I looked at the quartz versions. They all still had the two issues that I was talking about. Then I watched just one more watch’s review and Teddy’s review and in both macro shots it shows the same issues that I’ve been talking about. Misaligned hour and second hand not hitting the marks. I stick by my review. If a $20 Timex can hit the marks there’s no excuse for almost $400 Swiss made watch.

I've heard too many reports of hand alignment problems that can't be fixed by hacking. Otherwise it _would_ be an attractive watch, but I don't trust this movement to work properly. Maybe I'd get one that works, but there's too much doubt in my mind. I can accept a second hand that isn't hitting the markers all the way around, but the minute hand needs to hit the bloody markers when the second hand passes 12. A watch that can't do that is junk, no matter what else it has going for it.

Can’t tell the time? Based on looking at a single watch? That makes it a money grab? Obviously you don’t know very much about watches. None of the dozens of other reviews I’ve read have had any problems with either the quartz or the automatic version of the PRX. I’ve had mine for about four days now and every day I find something else I like about it That I hadn’t noticed before. If a little bit of misalignment concerns you that much, send the watch back and get a replacement which is what you should’ve done before you did a review.

the eta F06 in general is a big step down from its predecessor the 955, plastic gears and less jewels. All that for saving maybe 10 dollars per movement. This is what's holding me back from buying new swatch group quartz watches. When i think swiss quartz i think of a robust movement that can be serviced IF it fails in a couple of decades. I don't even care about accurate hands. If i want a plastic quartz with only 1 or 2 jewels i'll just buy a seiko, their movements are much cheaper and perform better. If you're looking for swiss quartz look for ronda movements, they're much nicer.

What you have there is a defective model, it happens, even to the Swiss. Bring it back to the AD and it will be rectified. It's better for a watch to be rectified than crucified because every PRX quartz that I've seen has been dead-on-balls when it comes to hand alignment.

@@watchmegobroke4365 That's fair and I respect your review completely. I was just curious if Tissot would rectify the issue. If they would, then the people wouldn't have to worry. I wasn't being critical, I was just offering an alternative course of action that I had thought maybe you already tried so you could say "yea" or "nay" to whether Tissot would stand behind their product, that's all. You see, every PRX Quartz that I've seen first-hand had perfect hand alignment so I thought that taking it back would fix it. If I were Tissot, well, I wouldn't have let them out into the wild like that to begin with because that's embarrassing to a Swiss watchmaker. Not only would I have taken care of EVERY complaint, I would have issued a product recall because I wouldn't want the Tissot name on a watch that was so shoddily made.

1) Pull the crown out when second hand is at 12. Then set the minutes and hour at the excact time and click the crown back in when it is time to do so😅 2) The second hand not aligned with the markers is because of temperature changes. The mechanical wheels expands sometimes when temperature changes and they made space between the wheels inside the watch because of that. It is actually more of a quality thing.😅 How can you diss the watch makers without knowing that? They are pretty aware of those kind of problems. If you want totally accuracy you should get a more expensive watch. They make smart engeneering tricks and technology you pay for to align those hands😅
