BP is the type of player they wanted Poole to be. Has the shot, makes good decisions, and won't look Steph off when he has a wide open 3

you briefly hit was i was looking for in this video and it was the charges he takes. as a warriors fan i watch all the games and i watch him constantly throw his body in the pile, step in front of a defender and get set in split second decisions and gets rewarded all the time. rookies don't get love from refs but he has near mastered that as a one. he's going to be in this league a long time.

Podz was the WCC player of the year. Other guys who were WCC players of the year include Bill Russell, Kurt Rambis, John Stockton, Hank Gathers, Steve Nash, Kelly Olynyk, and Adam Morrison.

Podz is flat smart! I was very impressed with his floor awareness on defense. In one sequence I saw recently, he instinctively knew how to read the floor on a switch and move to a spot to take out the corner 3 player out of the play (from receiving a pass for a shot). He was 1-2 steps ahead of the offense going to that spot, so he totally disrupted that play. Just about no one does that these days. That was some old school intelligence right there.

2:48 😍 To have this level of chemistry with another player where Curry never even looked at Podz but he timed the cut perfect and Podz hit him with a perfect pass. Damn that was nice!

Brandin's play is earning him props on the team. No two ways about it. When I play at the gym and a guy shows up and consistently plays hard and passes the ball, especially at the right time? Yeah, you know what's up. Everybody wants a guy like that on their team. Besides, he's playing the Warriors ball movement style.

I love what you said at the start of the defensive portion of his game. Podzemszki is a short, relatively unexplosive, white rookie guard who isn't particularly long or strong. It is basically EXPECTED that he's not just a defensive negative, but easily exploitable. And yet, because of his IQ and lunatic level effort, he's remarkably not just not terrible, but can be an active positive! That's one of my favorite things about Podzemszki. There was a play where he drew a defensive foul off kawhi Leonard because Bpodz just straight up DOVE for the ball full send and Kawhi cyborg strength made Brandin fall like a fish. Most 20 year olds aren't diving head first in kawhi path like that. Or when he drew that offensive foul all the way on the inbound after a made basket. I wouldn't be surprised if Chris Paul has been teaching Brandin some of the little pesky things one can do that can close the gap when you're not as tall or athletic. Cause Chris is the master of all those dark arts

I honestly don't get calling Podz "short". At 6'5" he's pretty tall for a point guard and more than adequate for a shooting guard.

He will be our next Poole. If people remember that Poole couldn't hit water on a boat in his rookie year but went to work with Curry to work on shooting. If he works with Curry this summer, the new warriors big three in the future will be him, Moody, and Kuminga. They all r starting to become great players in the system. They all have the added bonus of DEFENSE which will be a core item the warriors need to get back to

his shooting and defense were absolutely trash in the summer league i thought for sure this kid wasn't gonna be ready for at least another 2 years. as long as he's making his 3's and holding his own on d he's gonna be a good complimentary/energy piece on any team. his ceiling is low though just because of his size and lack of athleticism. he also doesn't look like he has the shiftiness naturally to create offense off the dribble.

What makes you say that? Dude can make the rotation easily. Even if he doesn’t start, I don’t see how you keep Podz out of the rotation. He’s already playing with more poise than a lot of veterans. He’s got the same quality that GP2 has, always being in the right place at right time, and motor for days. That plus he actually has a 3 pointer with good accuracy.

@@SactownFabi (1) Podz is averaging more rebounds in 22 min a game, than Keegan averaged in 30 min a game, and Keegan is a forward. (2) Keegan was a 4 pick and is an NBA starter on a good team. So being comparable to him would not make Podz “irrelevant” or incapable of cracking a rotation. (3) Podz is scoring same points per minute as Keegan did rookie year (4) having a 19 pick give you productive starter minutes and closing games as a rookie is a BIG find. You’re not making much of a case for him becoming “irrelevant”.

@@SactownFabi we’ll see soon enough. Don’t understand your take at all. No way do I see him as a “Steph wannabe”. He is one of the top guys on the league at taking charges, grabs key rebounds, defends tenaciously, doesn’t shoot unless he is open, passes first, and does all the little things to help win. If anything he reminds me of GP2 in his attitude, just finds the right place to be and his energy is contagious. GP2 obviously very good point of attack defender and useful on offense in the dunker spot, and shooting corner 3s, but Podz is a better shooter, better at keeping defenses honest, or he will eat their lunch. Could not ask more from a rookie role player. Your saying he has trade value means others recognize he has value.
