It is such a waste of humanity to discard or halt an ability that others struggle or do not have the right or privilege to partake in. If only you people witnessed what I have seen where I would do my job and deliver food to those who are paraplegic or those missing arms and legs. What they would do to have what you have. As many other are coming and commenting, I to have had this feeling alot. Being someone with extremely low self esteem and told by family at times that my art endeavors were "useless" something alot of use have to deal with. Right now im talking about visual artist, but all artists matter. Anyway; one day i was thinking about how sad it is for artist and their representation. The animated movies that send such powerful messages, make millions of dollars and are praised for their alluring graphics, the artists that work their ass of in the studios get no recognition for the magnificent work they do. Just a thought. But what i want to say, particularly in this corona virus times, is that - those doctors, nurses, patients, truck drivers, and all the ppl who are doing the important things we need, that make us feel like we are useless. When they are on the verge of burnout, and they get a break, the games they play for a release, the songs they listen to to motivate them, the websites they visit to get information, the anime they watch to get a good laugh - and so much more - is conceptualized, and brought into fruition - by artists. Just a thought.

I’m just a random person on the internet but you’re art endeavors aren’t useless at all. Art is a way to express yourself without the use of words, it’s beautiful seeing completed artworks. It’s also a way to let off some steam, reduce anxiety, or even just make you happy. Every piece of art is a reflection of the artist mindset and views. When art is viewed more deeply it can bring out emotions in the viewer. That we otherwise wouldn’t of felt. Me personally I can’t express my feelings or emotions well. But when see a piece of art whether it’s music, a painting, drawing, sculptures whatever it is it makes me actually feel something.

Telltale product-line and how they excelled at bringing comic strips to life and how they incorporate the player as the weaver of the story he's experiencing rather than a bystander audience (also games by quantic dream did that at a live-action level with games like heavy rain). Or something like to the moon where the story simply shatters you although the art is of simple pixels. Games now exceeded the notion of jumping from one platform to the next and collecting coins to attain the highest of scores. Games transcended to a sublime level of beauty that one can't help but to be left in awe. Cheers

"We don't read and write poetry because it's cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for. To quote from Whitman, "O me! O life!... of the questions of these recurring; of the endless trains of the faithless... of cities filled with the foolish; what good amid these, O me, O life?" Answer. That you are here - that life exists, and identity; that the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse. I don't usually talk about this stuff anymore but, here goes. Everything has a meaning. Even if you have no clue what it is, what's the function of something or someone, I believe that everything has a meaning. If you're lucky or blessed enough, you might find out, but all in all, it doesn't matter if you know or not, if it's what you love doing, then do it. So if ever you don't know what your purpose is on Earth, just know that nobody really does. The things that you see online about people being successful, it's not them knowing who they really are. It's just people living and doing the things that they love.

Great point. Connection is important, especially when in front of the feeling of sudden and abrupt isolation. Artists spend a good degree of their life tackling isolation head on, and breaking through it by giving a voice to voiceless emotions. A lot of people do not know how to feel at the moment for a variety of reasons. Many people will be working from home not just at present time, but well into the future after current events. Artists will be vital for so many people who will feel lost on their own.

I think artists are essential for society not in that they assist in its literal function, but that they help us to catalog, quantify, or qualify the human experience into something more understandable. It serves as an escape both to the artist and the viewer who would choose to abandon-if only for a brief moment- their day to day operations and worry to view or do something that is the reflection of an observation of a single or small grouping of human out of billions. Art is many things to many people, and by its very nature is extremely subjective, and people partake in it for a plethora of reasons. As for myself, I like to paint and write. That is how I serve the soul of the world through my inclination to jot down my life experience. I like to create reflective works that not only reveal my naked self (of the soul; the essence not the body), but help others in understanding/coping with this absolute madness that is existence. But that’s all it does, and I don’t admit to or desire that these pieces do anything more or that the world would crumble without them. I think art in general has earned itself an interesting reputation in the past few decades, as it’s becoming more and more scrutinized as a whole as people with less skill from a broader range within the population are able to pick up a paint brush and lay down a scene, or pick up a pen and form fantasy with words. But it’s just cataloging. It’s a way of cataloging everything about humanity in a single instance of it’s timeline from multiple different individuals living it. There’s religious paintings, political ones, fantasy ones, landscapes, portraits, still life’s, etc. There’s fantasy novels, political and religious ones, epics, free verse, science-fiction, etc. Now there’s movies, video games, sculpture work is still around as well. There’s dancing, plays, speeches. They all take a slice of humanity from a certain point in time and essentially freeze dry it and throw it in a vacuum. Anytime someone wants to or comes across a work of art, a dual feature is present in that it provides you maybe with some insight into yourself or the world around you, as well as with an inkling of what life was like during the time of it’s creation (socially, culturally, technologically). These are just the opinions of one person, however. One drop in the ocean, if I may. I’m sure there are those who think different, but we all die eventually. 300 years from now-providing humans are still around and have access to all of our artwork-our descendants may look at our emotion and love and religion through these pieces of art and call us imbeciles, morons, blind. Life could be totally different from how it is now. But they’d surely have a very great idea of not only why we experience love and religion but how and when we did. There may be no more monogamous relationships in the future, and they’d read or view our world and wonder how we did it, or ask why we did it. Time travel will become more of a prevalent thing, but not the time travel we know of in science-fiction. They’d have science to explain the neuroscience behind it as well, but that is presumed.

Art helps ❤ We had few spots available in the hospitals so I was very sick at home having trouble breathing. For me the art of movies and series helped me not to panic and distracted me from my fear of dying. And it helped me not getting depressed, it kept my heartrate calm, comforted me and gave me something to focus on. And when I felt a little better, but still weak, youtube videos about drawing made me feel a litte more normal and like myself. Helped me not forget who I am and loose myself to sickness. And drawings about corona made me feel connected and not feel as alone in my struggle. And some made me laugh and others made me connect with the hate of and fightingspirit against the disease. Art helps when sick ❤ And this video helped me feel greatful :)

As an artist and human myself, I understand and appreciate how we feel. I remember a point in my life where I felt and questioned my purpose in this life and even my identity which I have found another very well respected artist do. As artists, we express and portray feeling through the creation of our pieces which is brought forth from our soul often.. During this time and crisis we more than ever need light and love and as a human being with a soul and passion, I know sometimes we can feel empty and purposeless and that's where he comes in saying whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst, the water i give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life and that's where the tiredness and endless hunger ends. I'm speaking figuratively, God wants to become a father to those who receive the gospel of his son, called the gospel of grace and of peace.i know as men we tend to be convinced that he doesn't care or convince ourselves he is not real, due to situations of life and hardships and also other times our upbringing but He is loving towards us and that's why we hear so much about his son who died on a cross 2000 years ago to reconcile us to him.. if we believe in him and come to the light the blood of his son cleanses us from all sin and from having an evil conscience I.e a conscience that is judgemental towards you and others and hateful towards God. Many people walk around with a sin-debt in their conscience towards God and it is not healthy and only destroys the soul and to some it is even a normal way of life. If you believe in his son, all your sins are forgiven and you're received as a son by the holy spirit and sealed for the day of redemption. It is time to escape the tragedy that befell us and the doors of the church are wide open... I know you may have heard some say that God is judging or condemning but the Lord himself said that he was sent not to judge the world but to save it for this is the day of salvation...

Going to my clinic and once I'm home watching art videos and trying out different stuff like watercolor and line and wash. It keeps me sane after looking at worried and severely ill patients all day. Tell your artist friend that we doctors heal people but you artists are one step further. You can even heal us doctors. But in a time like this, it's brought some joy to my stressed and nearly burnt mind. I work as what a laymen would consider to be a nurse. The stress we're experiencing in the health care field is so palpable you could cut it with a knife. I'm not sure if things will get as bad in my area as say... New York, Wuhan, or Italy... but I know that at the very least, I can turn back to art. I've always been a creative person... always found joy in it's creation. I hope it can see us all through this pandemic. Thank you for the video.

Maybe some think that an artist isn't important, more in this situation where people just thinks in survive. But when you put your thoughts on, you see that we, like humans, need express and feel. Just wonder how would be the world without music, painting, movies; it would be awful. Art is the way that the people conect, feel, express. Like I say: ''Art is the humans being their self'' and in this case, we need being our self more tahn ever. If you are an artist, be pround about what you are; you can bring light to others and yourself. Thank you for that message. But my wrists have been giving out and not many people noticed my works so I am not so sure if I should continue art anymore, and with all the people already posting art everyday I feel my art is not making anyone happy. But sometimes I get people saying that they felt something from it. I even did this 1 sad piece that I put my very heart into, and someone said it hit them hard with sadness. But I put my heart in almost all my works and it's only a few that get that response. I crave to have my art be noticed, mainly because I want my heart to be noticed.

Hi Adam, Greetings from fellow FromSoft fans. I was introduced to you a couple months ago by my friend who gave me a link to your Dark Souls art book review. It immediately resonated with me and thus I decided to take a peek onto your channel, and I've been a subscriber since. I'm a professional artist too (just a small-time freelancer though haha), I started learning digital art 10 years ago but have only been doing it for the living for the last 4 years. I really like how gentle your talks are and how you (as how I see it at least) always tried to relate to beginner artists and never forgetting how it feels to be starting for the first time, something that I think a lot of other veteran artists often forgot. I suppose it's because you are also a teacher, but again, not every art teachers remembered that part. Nowadays I often worked on my commissions while listening to you (although that often means I don't actually see your painting process hahaha sorry about that), you gave a lot of insights (I hope it doesn't make me start to see Amygdalas perched on buildings!) about art and what it means to be an artist, and it really gives me a lot of energy and motivations to put more of my feelings into my artwork. So thank you so much for your hard work! Regarding the current topic, I think artists, be it visual, music, or dance artists, have this unique skill that enables any kind of messages to be more easily noticed by people, so I think this is one of the best time to put our craft to practical use by raising awareness about relevant topics, for example like using your drawings to communicate to people about how important physical distancing is, or portraying medical staff's plight on the frontline and how we should support them as best as we can, etc....

Beautifully put. I dedicated much of my life to art, yet as the fates rolled out I was not to become an artist professionally. Most of my time these days is spent doing what a lot of people refer to as contributing to society, which although fulfilling in its own way, does not quite compare to the act of creation found in art. One of the things that keep this new reality from becoming a mill of tax forms and insurance applications is to see artists elsewhere flourish; who make the most out of what our society enables them to do, and who creates astonishing work in any medium. When I find a painting process video on KZitem, it is like taking in the rays of the sun through a window; even though you can only enjoy it briefly, you know it shines bright on a whole world outside, and makes everything grow. Everyone might not like your style, or medium, or genre, or message, but *never* doubt the value you bring into the world as an artist.

Thank you for the incredible videos you share. Your insight and championing of art and the artists who work to bring it to life is such a breath of fresh air. I stumbled upon your channel this morning as I had my coffee and then hours later, found myself still listening to your videos in my studio as I carried out the tedious, but seemingly involuntary, act of drawing which has been my calling and profession for many years. In those years, and particularly the past three, I have grappled with some existential turmoil and a stalling in my momentum and desire to create, feeling myself drifting in a bit of a void. Recently, to find my footing again, I have begun a search in earnest for the purpose of art, especially old-fashioned traditional art, in today's day and age. By default, this means searching for and questioning my own purpose and reason for this compulsion and the nagging visions that swim behind my eyes that beg to be born. Your videos have quickly become a beacon in this void, and a nudge in the direction I need.

I’ve always considered my art habit to be a coping mechanism. I never had control or say over my life as a child; and my parents openly shared that they were powerless also. Dad too annoyed with my constant questions and talking to let me know things are ok; mom too busy wrangling our family’s crumbling finances to let me know things are ok. I hid behind movies, and in my little way attempted to fake a sense of control in my life, even if I could only control a piece of paper. Art sustained me, but it also blinded me to how lacking my childhood was. Blinded me to all the things in real life that I was missing out on. I know everything about drawing perspective and how to structure a story properly; I have no idea how to talk to people. When I do art, I feel like I’m fooling myself. More needless distraction. And even if I succeed, if I complete these sprawling epics in my head, am I not just distracting that neglected kid? Allowing that kid to spend another day tolerating a bad situation? I know that many people think that art has an inherent value in and of itself, but I can’t help but feel like no matter what I do I’m just passing on my poison to the next person or else dying in isolation. I know this is a false mentality but it’s all I know.
