Honestly removing weapons is unneccessary. Maybe reworking some weapons to the point where they feel like brand new (and better) weapons should be the way to go imo. Like how dual squelchers became dualie squelchers between s1 and s2. Maybe goo tuber could become a bow?

I believe that the Squid Surge/Jump is meant to even the playingfield with other weapons, so that they can have more meaningful buffs/changes for Dualies, since they're difficult to balance right now due to them having a exclusive movement option.

@Hzy the Dodge rolls give movement horizontally (and to an extent vertically) in a quick fashion in a direction of your choice. (It also effects how the weapon shoots, but that's not what Im reffering to) The Bow's jump changes how the shots are fired. Grounded is horizontal, airborne is verticle. The jump button effects both weapons, but Dodge Rolls are movement based, while the Bow's is strictly shot based. I'm talking purely about movement options, not shot options.

Ok but the combination of squid surge and dodge roll could be epic! The dodge roll brings you down to the ground quickly and in a set direction, so you could surge, then dodge roll forwards landing quickly behind an opponent on a ledge (scenario seen in the trailer) I don’t see why dodge rolls should become irrelevant. To me, the squid roll is just an alternative to sub-strafing, as we haven’t seen that you can do it straight from humanoid form!

Thoughts: Goober: Needs good kits that diversify from squiffer instead of just being worse or a significant buff to the main weapon that makes it more different than squiffer Dualies: as long as squid roll works well with dodge roll, no Blob: needs a rework that forces it to play more aggressively, and rewards said aggression (thought about damage getting cut almost in half as a trade off for faster blobs and slightly faster sloshes, that paint worse) Under: make it a five shot as a trade off a 280 hp sheild and better range and more good kits for it. "Trade weapons": reward them for playing better and maybe make their playing bad areas worse Chargers: Bow looks different enough for them to stay (Bow looks like it has worse paint and range than a charger)

I agree with everything apart from undercover. I play kunder, it doesn’t need better kits kunder is practically perfect, if you want a better shield don’t play under play other brellas. By giving it a five shot you’re making it have a 2/3 second kill time, BY FAR the longest in the game. If you look at the response of undercover players, all we want is increased damage to about 40, but the buffs you suggest are useless.

Change the bubbles of the Bloblobber so that they do less damage after they bounce off the ground for the first time. And depending on balance maybe even less damage after their second bounce. I'm honestly surprised that's not something they changed early on with a patch. I'm surprised they didn't do that to begin with, to be honest.

That would give it less effective range than Splattershot and turn its main gimmick of bouncing shots off walls and over things from potentially devastating to "might as well use Slosher", while not doing anything with players who pretend to be Touhou bosses. In fact, this will make it even more passive and less skill-based, because it will gut most of the tools it has for close combat.

If they removed the Dualies, I'm gonna be so sad. It was the first class I ever mained. At the same time, (almost) ever single weapon returned (Dual Squelcher didn't return cause the split it in 2, and the rest were just Sheldon pick weapons) So I don't think they're removing anything.

id rather not have dualies be replaced because i remember a lot of hype for them when the splatoon 2 trailers first came out. everyone in splat 3 will have squid roll but dualies is a class that you have to choose and use to be able to dualie roll. all the different dualies are extremely fun to play with, some dualies might not make it in the game but i doubt the class would be completely removed. dualies are a really interesting class and pretty fun slayer weapons to use since your in everyone’s face and then you can roll away or annoy chargers.

The thing I hate about blob the most is the fact that unlike all other sloshers it requires one button press or slosh to kill. Give it three bubbles instead of four, forcing it to slosh twice and I would be slightly less hateful of it

I don’t understand the Dualies argument. The surge being introduced in Splatoon 3 is dodging while in the ink. Dualies roles are while outside the rink. I don’t know. I want to the CDS and Gloogas to return.

The only thing Beakons need right now is better distribution, so far there are too little weapons that have it that make really good use of them, the best of them is easily Splatoon 1 CDS. Slow weapons like Hydra would LOVE to have a Beakon kit too. It would place them in different spots and (almost) freely navigate between them lightning fast.

I would like if they reworked goo tuber so that instead of being able to hold its charge for longer, it could store multiple charges at the same time(ex. You would get 1 charge and have the shot, but you would keep charging until you had max charges, and whenever you shot you would take away 1 shot from those charges). That would give it more of a niche, make it less outclassed by squiffer, and make it more fun. Assuming it was balanced right of course(I don't want it to be better squiffer or worse bamboozler). This would be hard to use and master but super rewarding. Think of all the plays you could do with multiple charges after all.

My idea for balancing the Undercover would be to first decrease its range a little bit but buff the damage so its only good in real close combat as its designated and then you could either increase the time it takes until the umbrella regenerates or make a time limit for how long you can keep the shield up until it vanishes. Does are at least my ideas hope you like it! :)

I honestly think that the introduction of the triple shot bow and lack of dualies shown off so far means that nintendo views these weapons as gimmicks that won't return because they relate to the numbered entries in the series (e.g. 2 pistols for splatoon 2, 3 shots from the bow for splatoon 3). might be a coincidence but nintendo has a habit of doing that sort of thing with some of their games

honestly, as someone who plays long range, unscoped chargers, i’d prefer the charger class to be relatively untouched. the bow seems different in play-style enough for it not to replace chargers directly,, because for me and im guessing a lot of other people, aiming with the scope can be quite difficult, and if you’re a less seasoned player, forcing the scope (because of the limited visibility while aiming) would probably make a lot of players dislike it more. i believe the unscoped and scoped chargers should remain, just simply in the gear menu, toggle if you want the scope or not

there's one weapon you missed. splatter shot jr. This weapon might not have a lot of hate, but it's relying to much on it's sub and special, and you can't really buff the weapon without making it op. It is fine to have one weapon that relies entirely on its kit, that's what makes it distinct, and both stock and Kensa pull it off very well, with ridiculous kits that would instantly propel any normal weapon into top tier (in fact, look at Zap 85). Even Custom was kinda salvaged with double bombs with no investment, though 3 really should do something wilder with its kit. Jr's main should be nerfed, if anything, it should be reduced to minimum viable, not "better Aerospray" it is now. It doesn't need to have the same framedata as Sploosh, make it as fast as baisic Splattershot and noobs won't even feel the difference. It doesn't need to have twice the efficiency of any other weapon, make its base efficiency average and just keep the baby tank boosting it. Give it slightly smaller impact blobs to reduce its mobility and make its inking more commital (but not necessarily worse) as it'll only be able to rely on fill. Give it slower accuracy recovery time to make it even weaker in combat, or axe its accuracy deterioration altogether and make it always full random like in S1. It can be nerfed to 26 damage to be disadvantaged at RM shields and such. Take little chunks out of it here and there, each being just a little nuisance, but the sheer amount of things that are subpar about it would make themselves known often, especially in comparison with Aero.

I don't think Undercover should be completely out of Splatoon 3. A good way to make it more fun to play would be to implement a battle mode to it. It's a simple change, if you fire a shot with shields down, it does 50-55 damage instead of 40. That goes for the first shot as well. This would make Undercover way more versatile and intuitive to play since you would need perfect aim to do max damage. Firing with shields down is slower but makes you move faster, that way you could choose between being vulnerable to players or vulnerable to bombs.

I think like you said, it's far better to re-evaluate a weapon/weapon class's roll and adjust it accordingly than to just outright remove it. Dual Squelcher becoming Dualies was a natural showcase of this, I think it's much more fair for Goo-Tuber and maybe the other weapons to also be adjusted. Here are a couple of ideas I have: - Maybe, as you said, merge Squiffer and Goo Tuber's mechanics. - Base every kit of certain weapons (like Undercover) to play to their playstyle, so EVERY Undercover kit is support oriented for example. - Dualies can be adjusted in the ways their dodge rolls can synergise with the surges and rushes, making them still fast and dangerous (though, Gloogas will also need some adjustments to keep up, as they'd probably be too slow). - Bloblobber should be adjusted, possibly making it a slower powerful weapon that can control space for a while with heavy and carefully placed pressure, without needing to spam to do so. Maybe making the bubbles linger longer and do better damage at greater ranges in return for them continuously slowing down further with every additional bounce? These are just some of my own personal ideas how to adjust some things, though, even if I don't get my Gloogas in 3, I'm still gonna be pretty excited.

I think blob just needs more of a damage reduction, if you throw out a line a bubbles at some place, they have to be hit by all of those bubbles to get a kill, which is like 30 HP per bubble, which even if someone gets hit by one, you have enough firing speed to still be able to kill them. So it should be at least 20 or so damage per bubble maxing out at 80 if all four hit someone, that way it’s more of a painting focused bucket like it’s supposed to be. I’ve used the base bloblobber as a main for a while, and that kit seems to be more painting focused like it should be.

My issue with octobrush and clash is that most players especially of low levels don't know how to take advantage of slow kill time. When you start taking damage and the ground is covered in enemy ink the instinct is to run, which is often the best option in other situations. So unless you're at the level where you can quickly take down an enemy like that or just know how to avoid those situations, it just feels like they're scoring easy kills on you.

I main the Bloblobber Deco, and I just gotta say, you are 100% correct about it needing a rework. Those projectiles that the main weapon fires aren't just little bubbles that bounce around, they're like bouncing balls of death and destruction with "-30" written on them in red tape.

Nintendo is not replacing unscoped chargers. Have you noticed that unscope isn’t completely outclassed by unscope in S2 compared to 1 bc of the charge hold? And scope can still be used even if you don’t want to use unscope for some reason. I think long range chargers are in a healthy spot and I don’t see a reason to remove unscope.

The two weapons I main are Bloblobber and Undercover... Oh no :') I play both of them a LOT more aggressively than the vast majority of players do, and I can't imagine playing Splatoon any other way now. If they get cut it would actually be kinda heartbreaking. I don't think either need to be tweaked much, at least no moreso than a bevy of other weapons that I think are way more problematic. A lot of the changes that people consider to be small fixes for them would honestly break them to the point of being utterly useless, so I think a smarter way to go about it is to instead provide better counterplays against them for other weapons. Balancing games by adding a wider range of options is usually better than nerfing key attributes imo. Ideally, we'd only gain weapons rather than losing any. I think all weapons have a place, even if some will need to be shaken up a bit to give them more purpose in the meta (like with Gootuber, which has ended up with a very muddled design that could do with a shift in focus).

We haven’t seen it yet, but I’m honestly hoping unscoped chargers will not have charge holds in 3. Obviously the goo tuber would still have it, but nothing else, squiffers don’t really need it, and e liters and regular chargers really don’t need it anyway, if someone gets close to them, they should be punished. I main chargers, and I just feel like it is so over powered. I know it’s a hot take, but it’s just my opinion.

I just like the Dual Squelcher ok don't judge me) Actually so the Dual Squelcher and Dualie Squelchers don't get mixed up, have the Dual Squelcher's stat block(Probably with a few buffs too) return as a "new" weapon, the SNES Super Scope(Since Dual Squelcher is kinda like a long range Zap).

I always thought the weapons they decided to show off in the trailer where kinda weird choices until I started to think that maybe it was a sign that splatoon 3 would begin to favor a slower and more skill based meta so that the new splatbow could better compete. I’m starting to think that they’re going to be cutting and reworking a lot of the more straightforward short-ranged and high firing rate weapons weapons like Splattershot jr, trislosher, carbon roller, the brushes and clash blaster for example. So yeah- I think a lot of the slayers in splatoon 2 aren’t going to be returning.

The situation with the K undercover is the same with the Famas F1 in most shooter games: It shoots every half a second with a quick burst of 3 that can almost instantly kill on headshot, Which makes it unfair because it can just instantly kill someone at any time, anywhere. But if they nerf the headshot damage from 3 shot to 4 or 5 shot for example, It would be completely useless and hard to use. However the Famas F1 generally relies on aim and luck rather then the K undercover in splatoon.

Idea for blob , enemy’s can shrink down the bubbles.basically my idea is that enemy’s can shoot down the bubbles but not completely , more like you can shoot the bubbles to lower the damage and size ,you won’t be able to get rid of the bubbles entirely but you can soften the damage

I firmly feel like Nintendo wouldn't remove dualies just because they're genuinely a fun class to play. I'm with you about how the new movement options don't mean they're getting rid of dualies. I just also feel like "they have to get rid of dualies because we have a squid roll" is pretty out of touch. Why would they get rid of such a popular weapon class especially since Splatoon 2 is on the same console? That seems like a great way to convince casual players they don't need to buy the next game.

Ide for new Brella: Shoots the Shield instant so its like undercover, and gets it back faster as Normal brella, but cant put it back since its launched.

I don't personally think GooTuber needs to be removed, I just think it needs a revamp. There's already weapons that do its job better and its kits aren't too great. I just find it fun to mess around with currently.

idk why people dont like the removal of weapons, if Nintendo only ever adds weapons and never trims down, it seems like a recipe for harder balance and a more intimidating game.

With the squid surge and squid roll the speed/cooldown could change based on weight classes. Like how fast they are preformed or the cooldown? Ssu could maybe also effect these new abilities....

Looking back after the new trailer, I find it so funny that half of these debates got DRAMATICALLY changed - Undercover with Burst Bomb - Clash Blaster Explosion Buffed - Dualies returning I do hope they still change Goo Tuber (maybe a Goo-Bow?) and add your bloblobber changes

Imma be honest I kinda hate going against brushes when they know what they're doing because they always aim as high as possible and I can't see shit when that happens. I also hate going against bad brushes because they run away from every fight never to be seen again, and barely cover any turf so usually they lose. Also I feel tenacity should be built in if someone DC's and not an ability.

honestly I don't see why the would remove weapons, every weapon has someone that likes to play it, and if weapons are removed fans of those weapons probably won't upgrade, also just in general there's no reason to remove weapons

There are things that should be given up on (Camp Triggerfish) and things that shouldn't (goo tuber). Give it a dim charge hold, laser, and chamber glow and make it what it should have been from the start: a stealth sniper.

I'd like to see a skill tree in splat 3 solo, weapons to lv 3 and 2 lv 3 variants, and same for roll and surge cause that'd be fun Also add bomb4 and more than 4 bombs to pick from Update: Nintendo delivered.

You have the right to have your opinions, and they did too, but lmao saying “🙄 you have a brain for a reason hun” like dang that’s real cringe right there, saying hun like that 😂 I agree with Chara, with the squid rolls and surges giving the Dualies more movement gives it a stronger reason to use in the battlefield, especially if you can squid roll cancel using the dodge rolls. I main the brush class and have in both games and I don't think it would be at all possible for me to enjoy the game if there weren't brushes in the game. I don't really care if they get rid of one kind of brush as long as they don't get rid of the class entirely and there's at least one brush with a good kit I can enjoy using

I think they're gonna keep the undercover brella but they're gonna make it like the grizzco brella where it has no canopy. It fits the theme and aesthetic, after all, and it would let them make it a half decent main weapon!

nooooooooo i'm an unscoped charger main and i wouldn't like to see them go, also the inkbow still seems quite a bit different from the footage, because kind-of like the ballpoint splatling, it has an inking mood and a sniping mode. it also has three shots and has a fire rate that isn't instantly like a charger. we'll have to wait and see though

What are you thinking about this special? Name: Invincible (Shield) - while this special is active, you take no damage. You can still shoot, but you will also deal no damage. -> You can only paint while dealing and taking no damage. Taking damage shortens the time of the shield.

Goo Tuber's gimmick now after all the changes to it isn't as much charge hold as it is partial charges. It is an awkward weapon with a very involved playstyle where you put 100% of your brainpower into something you just need to press ZR twice on with Slosher, but on paper it has everything it needs to be a competent 4-liner, except kits and gear independence. But including inking, seriously, ever since the buff to tapshots that effectively made them ink 1.5x as much it turfs on par with the spreadfire shooters. I think it should stay but get stronger kits, it'll never be meta because of how high its skill floor and consistency requirements are, but it is a fun weapon to toy around with. Dualies as a class should stay, but Dualie Squelchers in particular should go. No salt, they are just genuinely poorly designed, the result of giving the longest-ranged dualies the best dodge roll bar none is outright silly. Seriously, if DS and Gloogas roll at the same moment, DS will splat the opponent from turret mode only 3 frames slower, all while sliding around and having actual 3 lines of range and not Gloogas that fall short just a bit. Glue them back together into Dual Squelcher which would fill the role of a consistent support-heavy 3-liner once again, and gift away the slide to Dapples to boost them into a competent weapon, and a themaitcally coherent one too since it'll give the reason for the brushes to be there. Bloblobber should stay largely the same I think, but should also get a smaller cousin, that is faster, more mobile and generally easier and more consistent up close, at a price of damage falling off after every bounce. Kind of a learning tool that pushes an aggressive playstyle regular Bloblobber is capable of but rarely utilised for because playing lame is often just as effective. A training/frontline Blob variant would expand the world for the one we have now, without really changing anything. Undercover can be given the roller treatment, don't make its core any better or worse, just give it more options. In Undercover's case it's obvious what option it sorely lacks- in its current iteration shooting without opening the shield has no benefits, other than comically high run speed. It is literally slower than firing it full auto while shielding. Firing faster manually, something like 20f matching L3 and Clash, would give it just enough potential aggression, plus a burst inking option that would let it duke it out with the spreadfires. Give it a much deserved 20-damage shield bash for quick splats point blank on top, and it becomes a support weapon that actually has some teeth, like Splash, while arguably becoming less annoying as it will spend more time shieldless. Octobrush should mix its S2 and S1 iterations. Keep it largely the same as it is in S2, a versitale and extremely consistent weapon, but add the small 2-hit sweetspot in the center at bristle length in return for a sourspot at the handle, just like back in the day. This will give it some skill ceiling and, again, another option if your positioning is just perfect. Clash is a travesty and should be reworked completely, as of right now it's pretty much a worse Blaster in every way. Remove the ridiculous blast radius increase it got, but in return improve its framedata and overall mobility, turn it into that missing link between blaster and shooter, so that its firepower and inking downsides are offset by it being a blaster that genuinely doesn't need support. The bows have a couple distinctions from chargers- they get two rings of charge which lets you either get one precise shot or a more consistent 3-shot at the price of longer charge, they seem to have falloff like shooters instead of the shot just vaporising once straight frames run out, and the one we've seen so far seems to have less range than Squiffer. They will be the aggressive, consistent midline chargers, something Squiffer always tried but never really succeeded at, while unscoped regular chargers are still all-or-nothing backliners, just with some showoff potential. As for what I think should be dealt with, the "2-liner, 28-damage, 5f fire rate" subset of shooters is overcrowded- we have Zap, Splash, Jr and Splat Dualies, plus a honorary 2285 Aerospray. Out of those, Splat Dualies are by far the most bland, but since they are a poster child of a class and would be awkward to remove, I propose to retire the ol' NES Zapper instead and keep SD as the high-mobility, longest range, low inking ones in this set. Buff their consistency by aiming the two streams inward to meet at max range, and buff their dodge roll to not literally be the same as Gloogas' one, and they will relive their glory days of fighting alongside Ttek once again.

I like Dualies and Brellas so I hope they don't discontinue them in splat 3, and I don't think Blob is a bad weapon it just needs to be reworked to be less annoying as it is now
