I read this today and thought I’d share. Might not directly relate to this topic but surely others Susan has touched upon “In my experience, the nicest thing someone who’s not interested in you can do is ignore you. Give me a few weeks of silence and a couple unanswered texts, and I’ll get the hint, I’ll move on, I’ll probably even remember you fondly. What I can’t handle is being turned into your yo-yo. We’ve all fallen for that person who isn’t interested, but will do the bare minimum to keep you from getting over them, just for the sake of their ego. “

Isn't in most cases when we don't value ourselves than wouldn't we just attract a narcissist who acts in that way anyways with all people? You made some very good points here. This really resonates with me, because it's just so silly, and such a waste of time to try to get somebody to like me. There's no point in trying to get a woman to like me, and likewise, she should not try anything to get me to like her. We need to just be ourselves, and relaxed. I am 37, so I'm honest, and straight-forward. I'm pushing 40, and don't date around. I never did do that, actually. It's much healthier to choose one partner I like, and tell that person I like them and I want to date them. If I'm rejected, then I deal with it, and move on. Rejection happens to us all. That being said, it also allows us to develop character. God bless you, Susan. I hope you have a wonderful day. 🙏⛱️⛅

What a lot of "shallow" people can't seem to comprehend is that an attraction can be the meeting of the minds. In fact, the brain is the deepest and most profound sex organ and not just what is "in the pants". An older woman has many positive attributes to offer a younger, very mature minded man who understands how to respect women of any age and can connect on her level. And from this attraction, a foundation of respect is born. Those fortunate to experience this type of love understand the attraction. We are so much more than just a rubber stamp of our age. In fact, what is not said can be more seductive than just putting it all out there. Attraction can occur on many levels, a certain look of the eyes, a sexy smile, body gestures, a certain unmistakable energy. None of this has anything to do with age. When real attraction happens, age takes a back seat and so it should.

I know they have been dating and I know he usually is away traveling but when it is time for holidays he texts me and all and asks what my plans are and at the end or In the middle suddenly says Jane (for example) will get mad if I don’t take care of myself. I found it silly and didn’t reply. But wondering what that means. Because every time I mentioned a new relationship to him he was like “he doesn’t deserve you” or “are you sure he is not married?” (He wasn’t!! I always make sure!). It is just surprising someone who gets mad even when I go to the movies drops tactless hints about a relationship. Thank you Susan.

I did that... she just left... blocked me, broke up the engagement... she was resenting me that she had to do the traveling, because i couldnt because of my visa... I adapted... the worst thing she did is make me feel guilty for wanting her attention more... we went from talking every day for six hours, to seeing each other 24/7 for two months and as soon as she good the company... she didnt want me anymore, when i call at night cuz i miss her, she doesnt want to pick up .... when she calls i leave everything and she is ok... thats what you do, you make compromises. when she wants to watch a movie we do, when i want she doesnt, when she wants to talk we can when i want to she doesnt have time.... i was supposed to leave my whole family and country to move half way across the world to be with her... and she dumps me and blocks me like i never existed.... add to that, 'i will never block you' love you, talk tomorrow.... etc.... now she doesnt even want to pick up her stuff that i sent her.... you are telling me that its normal to brake up an engagement and the intensity after nine months out of the blue for nothing.... like behave like i never existed....

the book "the rules" is great when you are dating. But like Susan says you can't be always available, don't respond right away, too me its a game. But that's the only (twisted) way to get a guy. But then is this real?

Can you please answer a question? I ran into an older woman I have ran into for years over 20. She has always been very sweet. She knew it's been 10 years. She has a prosthetic leg. She says she's 62 now. She said yes excitedly yes about a ☕️. Now she's totally not interested. She seemed to always laugh be nice excited have a spark in her eyes. Now she always says she's not interested and she's sure my intentions are good. She's almost even ghosted me at times. I told her I loved her after all these years.

I dumped the man I loved because he couldn’t commit 6 months ago. He has been trying to get my attention for months. I won’t take the bait. Then last week I caught him riding his bicycle past my house and he lives 10 miles away (he does distance rides for exercise). I love him but don’t want a relationship on his terms. I have no idea what to do.

You can't leave this empty Sounds like you’re better off without him. I’m sorry you experienced the heartache after being strong for 9 months.

KIm. Write out exactly what you need. Be able to tell him. If you do love him, those are your terms

Susan Winter Thank you for excellent advice, as always. He responds well when I put things gently and in letter form so he can think about things without having to react immediately. This is hard for both of us who have deep abandonment issues. We are each other’s mirror.

Susan, you are terrific! I can relate to everything you said in this video. I'm the queen of fear-driven relationships. Going through this now, your words are so timely. Thanks

Normally, I’d be watching and looking for answers to my own issues, today, I’m watching to see if your answer is the same as mine, as I’m the one who has lost interest in the one I thought my entire life had led me to. (Commented before watching) hoping there’s a way to get past this before making the final decision to leave.

It wasn’t that I was devaluing myself, it was that I was valuing him. 🤦🏼♀️ I was somewhat flexible and somewhat accomodating. Still, I know better for next time. 😪

Pick a partner on different value than the ones you used on the last guy. I valued my wife to great lengths, completely flexible, and totally accommodating and if given the chance I'd do it all the same, we had a very good relationship and she didn't take advantage of me, nor I her. Unfortunately a little metastatic breast cancer got between us, and even though I served her day and night for 30+ years, it was her time to go. You just have to be aware, selective and committed to finding the best person (not the most attractive) for yourself.

I just want to comment and get reactions from you guys. Why on earth would you want someone who is only interested in giving you test after test, while you are sure of yourself and know very well what you want and the other person just needs a confirmation you're not perfect?

I think typically the tests domt start until you've already formed an attachment to someone. It takes time, and experience to get better at letting go of someone you love. Also it's like a fight. You can know all the right moves and things change when you get hit in the mouth. Things change when you fall in love and you sometimes revert back on old habits.
