This is great content. Many of us amateur painters have watched a hundred different content creators do a NMM video or two, but listening to someone who knows what they're doing critique other minis feels like the next level and we need more of this.

Richard Grey is a amazing painter and I am very happy that he started his KZitem channel. The crazy thing is is that the stuff he paints on his channel is meant to be tabletop ready plus!?!

You need to realise that what Richard is able to crack out in 2 hours, would take most people who haven't spent the time he has painting, a lot longer. He is/was an illustrator by trade so he's been around composition for a very long time.

Analyzing videos like this is really great! Because I can actually learn stuff instead of just looking at other people's great work, thinking its so awesome but not knowing what makes it so good because of my lack of observation/analyzing skills since im new to the hobby 😅

In the second video he does for this model, not only does he carry on doing perfect NMM but also adds a hammered effect to the shoulder armour. The guys a wizard. I know I’ll never be able to replicate his unique style but just listening to what he says teaches so much. Thank you to both of you for sharing your knowledge.

Awesome paint job and I appreciate how you broke it down, a lot of the little details I liked but didn't know why now make more sense. I can also now paint mine in an inferior manner knowing that someone has done the mini justice. Super excited to get my hands on them and to see more from everyone else in the next month +

I love those very analytical breakdowns. The only issue I have is that the mini lives in 3D and the analysis is 2D. I don't understand how to make a coherent mini with source lighting for the back of the mini as well. Here to me the back should be slightly more exposed than the front, but I know I would get it very wrong. Maybe an idea for a future video, going from 2D to 3D ;)

while i admit that this paintjob is stellar, its not my favorite. the photo almost doesnt look like a tabletop wargaming mini and rather a portait painted on a canvas. its almost as if there is so much detail to show highlight and NMM that it makes it look like a 2d image rather than a picture of a 3d object
