- In today's video I want to explain why turning up your gain can be counter productive in a badly treated room. We get a lot of comments about why distortions occur when turning up the music in your room. Believe me I understand that when you hear something you like, you want to hear more of it. But when you turn the gain up you add more energy and that can be counterproductive in a bad room.
So in today's video I'll explain why that's the case and you'll learn:
1. Why your room can only handle so much pressure,
2. Why, when you turn the gain up, you tip the balance out of sync and any problems that are in your room that relate to pressure, modal issues and reflections are just exasperated and,
3. Why, when you reach a level where the room sound overpowers the direct sound of the music from your system, you can hear that and why you will be forever chasing rabbits down holes if you pursue that course of action.
So enjoy the video and as always please let me know if you have any follow up questions.
Thanks
Dennis,
