Old timers in UK have been using leaves for years it’s called leaf mould and it was left for a year before it was used. So Dr.Johnson Bio Reactor is a modern version of what the old timers in the Uk we’re doing, a lot used a Chicken Wire Round container about 2 ft diameter.

I really like what you're doing on this channel, Diego. Keep up the great work interviewing top soil scientists like Dr. Johnson.

I think you're both "talking past" each other. The emphasis of johnson-su is to create an liquid extract (fungal innoculant) that is applied during planting whereas I think you're thinking more of traditional compost that is used for weed suppression and side-dressing row crops.

How he describes his finished compost, is exactly what I have experienced with static composting woodchips and leaves statically. I can also see the layer of worm castings. The way I've been doing it probably takes about a year or so longer than the Johnson Su method.

Would you inoculate it with a gourmet mushroom culture or spores?

Curious as to results of this method and weeds. Many espouse that the high temps destroy weed seeds and that turning allows the the heating process to be extended resulting in more “weed free” soil amendment. Like the videos and podcasts.

Where can you buy some of the soil or compost made in the johnson-su bioreactor?

I also wonder about weed seeds and pathogens. Seems like outer edges are a bit cooler and therefore might not be completely sterilised. And this process probably makes chicken wire method even less sutable. With chicken wire outer or inner edges, especially with one big inner tube are even cooler.

Can you give us a text update on your 2’ center bioreactor please. Is it showing promise? If so, what about just making a 2’x6’ wall? Ty

What do you do to keep the bioreactor from freezing in the winter?

Dear Diego just found you thank for all the work yr doing, this may be a answer to. Why Bioreactor may be better than a Dr. Elaine Ingham hot compost? , If you are leaving a compost pile for a year you are allowing the 4 season of microbes to grow as the season pass, giving you a all year round compost that has ever thing in it for yr garden all year round

Me too, I like to know what he thinks about your version. Currently, I am experiment with your version. I won't know the result till Jan/2023...wow, sounds so far away. Thank you.
