I am starting with Salesforce, and I found that many professionals on the WEB advocate AGAINST Person_Account. If you have a chance, could you share a video with us talking about why that is? And maybe explain if those “issues” can be mitigated or avoid altogether. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

That's a great topic, Jean. I've added it to our list. Person Accounts are definitely controversial in in the community.

I really like your short overview videos super helpful as a SF newbie (subscribed :). If I wanted to represent a single individual in an app I'm building, say an athlete or a coach, would you recommend I enable Person Accounts and create record types based on Person Account? I was first thinking of doing this with Contacts, but Contacts have to have an Account associated with it I don't need/want an account. It would become simply a "bucket account".

Thank you very much! So glad you find them helpful. If your alternative is a bucket account, then yes I would use Person Accounts instead. If you're primarily selling to the person and not the organization, Person Accounts are best. If the sports team is the customer, then accounts and contacts is the better way to go.

@@Rotive Hi, thank you for this video, it was so useful and the response to this question too! With the personal accounts, I'm a little nervous to allow the setting as it cannot be reversed, does that mean you have a personal account OR a regular account? Similarly to Levon9, we operate selling to a person/family/household rather than an organisation. You mentioned that accounts could be set up as households for more B2C interactions. Do you have any advice on how to do this and would this just be a matter of adjusting with the accounts settings? Thank you in advance. (I'm about to do a deep dive on all your other videos now!)

@@Rotive Hello I'm a new user as well. I m the founder of an athlete representation agency. In my business I have both B2B clients (Teams) and B2C clients (Athlete, who also are "products"). I d like to know if it s possible to do: - ACCOUNT: TEAMS - Personal account: Athelete - Product to sale to TEAMS: Athlete. Best regards

Great video! When using Person Accounts how can you relate a business account with multiple contacts (taking over the role of AccountContactRelationships) ? Thank you.

Hey there Esteband. You can use the feature to relate Contacts to Multiple Accounts built into Salesforce. Go to Setup > Account Settings to turn it on. This will give you a Related Contacts related list that you can add to Contact and Accounts. It will allow you to relate the contact half of the person account to other accounts. Another thing to consider is using Business Accounts and Person Accounts in the same org for B2B and B2C relationships.

@@Rotive Oh I need to test this because I was under the impression that Person Accounts merge Contacts and Account into Accounts removing completey the Contact object. Anyway thank you for your response.

Definitely test it out. You’ll see you have both options: regular accounts and person accounts. They are managed through record types. The person account does merge a contact and account record. When you add a new contact field, it can be included in the person account record type.

Hi. Can Accounts already created be changed to Person Accounts or would that just be a waste of time?

Hey Colin, You can do this, but you have to do an upload to do it and each account must have a contact associated with it. If you have a lot of accounts to convert I would go with an upload. SalesforceBen has a good article on this: www.salesforceben.com/convert-salesforce-business-accounts-to-person-accounts/
