the jedi are by no means perfect up to the point of ROTS, but it's still not a reason for him to kill over it and then proceed to oppress the galaxy as Darth Vader. All of that for a crumb of pussy. Everyone else in the clone wars also had their own loved ones and they still wouldn't fall to the darkside. He also basically had choices considering he could have helped windu defeat palpatine or striked him down when he revealed himself to him. Both were perfect opportunities and you essentially would kill the person that orchestrated the war. Of course you'd run into issues with some people in the republic questioning why jedi would kill the chancellor, but it'd still have been well worth it and they could literally turn in any evidence of him being a sith. The clones only did turn because of the courser chips anyways and that's the entire military strength of the republic anyways so they could easily have resolved that problem of proving their innocence easily. That being said what the other guy said about not being able to stop death because "it's not the jedi way" is bs and I agree.

Imagine throwing a tantrum because you didn't get a leadership position in a well-established organization when you're barely older than someone fresh out of university. Anakin didn't earn the position - he may be powerful, but he hasn't mastered himself mentally or emotionally, which is far more important for someone who's to be a decision-maker. Palpatine pushed him into the position as part of a political power play over the Jedi, and from the Council's perspective, it looks like Anakin is having his friend pull strings for him - Obi-Wan even tries to explain this to him in the movie.
@Halvo45
4 жыл бұрын
Peppermint Shamrock even so the jedi were just as much to blame in the sith getting all that power and losing anakin as he was in falling to the dark side. Jedi arrogance in that they couldnt be defeated and in failing to actually understand anakins issues and emotions pushed him to find another way to save the people he loved. Thats the entire reason he wanted to be master, so he could access what they knew so he could save padme
@peppermintshamrock
4 жыл бұрын
@@Halvo45 I disagree - Anakin is framed as a classic Tragic Hero (i.e. in the vein of Achilles and the like), and Tragic Heroes are very specifically done in by their own flaws and choices, not because of being "pushed" by the choices of others. Even Palpatine, as much as we can definitely assign him blame for grooming and manipulating Anakin on top of orchestrating the entire conflict, is more the Devil archetype, a representation of temptation itself rather than a standard character. Anakin bears full responsibility for his choices, whether he wants to admit that or not. I don't claim that the Jedi were perfect, but they weren't responsible for Anakin's fall. They didn't push him away, he pushed _them_ away. How can they be blamed for failing to understand his issues when he would not open up about them? It's a pretty consistent pattern that _Anakin_ is the one turning away from attempts to reach out, not the Jedi. Even in Attack of the Clones we see this - Obi-Wan is the one who prompts conversation about Anakin dreaming about his mother (says Anakin looks tired, then asks sympathetically if the dreams are about his mother), and Anakin is the one who changes the subject to talk about wanting to dream of Padmé instead. In TCW we see several attempts from Obi-Wan to talk to Anakin about stuff that bothers him - most notably in season 6 when Clovis has shown up again, and Obi-Wan tries to help Anakin work through his jealousy but Anakin shuts down conversation by insisting he and Padmé are just friends. By the time we get to ROTS we see Padmé telling Anakin they should go to Obi-Wan for help - Anakin again shuts this down. When Anakin later goes to Yoda, he gives him barely anything to work with, only describing his visions in the vaguest of terms - so Yoda can only give vague advice in return. Anakin in that scene is incredibly reluctant to volunteer any information even though Yoda is willing to listen - compare this to TCW where Ahsoka has visions of Padmé being in danger and also goes to Yoda, except she actually tells Yoda that Padmé is the subject of her visions. There's a very different result there. I mean you can claim that the Jedi didn't understand Anakin and that their advice wouldn't have helped him if you want, but the fact of the matter is that he never gave them a chance to. Even with their extrasensory powers, they're not literal mind-readers - so it's on Anakin for not reaching out for help when he needed it. Yes, Palpatine takes some blame too, since plenty of his machinations and misinformation was part of an abuse tactic to isolate Anakin; I'm not unsympathetic towards Anakin for this. I just think it's very uncharitable to pin the blame on the Jedi for Anakin's choices. It makes sense for Vader to do so, but for the audience? I just don't agree that that's the takeaway we're supposed to have.

The council already had a lot to deal with during the moment and Anakin was already coming closer to the dark side before the event took place. The council could've easily denied him a place on the council as well as the rank. But instead they gave him a place on the high council. Which is a huge honor. I personal think that the Jedi Council is just broken. If you look in the EU, during the Mandarin Wars. Raven ran into the same problems that Anakin faced. The Jedi Council basically, shut out any out side advice, and pretend that nothing was happening. And during the Clone Wars they once again shut out any advice from experience Military offices that have been training for combat situations like the Clone Wars. The Jedi are no better then the Sith, when it comes to war, or maintain the peace. People like Revan, and Anakin should run the Jedi, as they seem to be the most compact when it comes to war. They know when to sacrifice something, then trying to save something that is less important.

Anakin was the only one who truly believed in her innocence and after the whole incident was over they couldn't even muster a "uppss my bad". One of the good and bad thing about Anakin is how attached he gets to those close to him, unlike the other Jedi who are prepared to let go of any and all attachments, Anakin will not just abandon someone he cares about, even if it's a droid like R2-D2, he is willing to go out his way for those he loves. @@jamesgraham3315 But Sidious wasn't the one who set up Anakin to be a master, it was Joda. One of the first things Ahsoka tells Anakin and Obi-wan is that she was sent by Master Joda to learn from Anakin (even though I think it was supposed to be a learning experience for both of them). I think it's clear the council has part as to why Anakin was consumed by the Dark side. The clone wars series showed the slow process in which Anakin lost faith in the council since they would hide so much from him, when those close to him like Ahsoka were in danger he was basically told he was wrong for feeling as worried as he did. The way I see it Anakin at one point believed in the Jedi order and the council, however because of their decisions during the clone wars he slowly began to lose his trust of the council. Not to mention the current Jedi order of the prequel era had long since deviated from its original teachings of the force. Anakin also felt like he was being held back constantly, despite being the chosen one he felt like he wasn't being allowed to reach his full potential, which of course he didn't since he lost another arm and his legs before he got his Vader suit to keep him alive ( he had to re-teach himself how to fight using a new lightsaber and the force). TL;DR: The council cause an issue and when it effects Anakin negatively and pushes him towards the Dark side they point their fingers of disapproval and blame Anakin anyways. As for the whole Palpatine letting Anakin join the council as a representative, I always saw it as him solidifying his bond with Anakin since he (unlike most of the Jedi) earned Anakin's trust, he became a sort of father figure Anakin could talk to about his problems and his feelings, even if it was for the sake of manipulation you can't deny Palpatine tried to know Anakin on a personal level while all the other Jedi kept a certain distance in their relationships.

I just had a better idea for a sequel trilogy, after the death of Vader and Sidious and Anakin being redeemed. If Padme gets reanimated by the darkside and then she becomes the main villain seeking revenge against her husband and the jedi sinse they are the reason she lost Anakin and he fell to the dark side, now Anakin has to make a very difficult choice however this time he won't kill her by mistake or a fit of rage, instead he will have to kill his love again but this time consciously and on purpose. Perhaps then they could be reunited together happily again after he succeeds in turning her away from evil. Similar to Kazumi Mishima from Tekken and Sindel from Mortal Kombat.

@@neilmurphy966 Shows how little you know. The rest of the galaxy only viewed them as religious zealots that kidnap babies into their cult and rarely did the average person ever witness a Jedi much less using force abilities in public. We only view Jedi abilities on their adventures.

This is exactly it, his actions justified their decisions. Vader is very immature, he throws childish temper tantrums whenever things don't go his way.

Anakin would have joined the Sith with or without being given the rank of Jedi Master which he did not deserve. Anakin had done a lot for the war but was not even close to being mentally stable enough to be a Jedi Master. First of all he murdered an entire village of Sand people because of his mother (I could have totally agreed with him killing all the men but the women and children was BS) when he was not supposed to have attachments. Second he was attached to Padme which was not the Jedi way. Obi Wan cared deeply for Satine however he wasn't obsessed with her like Anakin was with Padme. I believe part of the reason that Obi Wan didn't force and end to the relationship between Padme and Anakin was because of his friendship with Satine and the belief that it would help Anakin become a better man however he was obviously wrong. The only way that Anakin doesn't fall to the Dark Side is if someone more experienced than Obi Wan would have been his Master. Maybe Mace Windu. Yoda, or Ki Adi Mundi could have kept him from the Darkside but that a big maybe. I think it would have helped though to have had a Master who was significantly more powerful than Anakin and who would not hesitate to prove it to keep Anakin working hard. Obi Wan was no slouch but because he was so close in age to Anakin I think that he became more of a big brother to compete against versus a Master to strive for which is why he thought he was greater than he was. Look at the battle on Mustafar Anakin was so confident that he figured he thought there was no way he could lose to Obi Wan despite Obi Wan's warnings.
