The Impossible burger at Burger King has 0 cholesterol. most non meat protein is better like that, and better regarding animal fat, hormones, saturated fat, etc. That's why people who get protein from meat have higher rates of obesity, diabetes, cancer, and heart diseases etc. and i watch my salt intake a lot now but yea, compare salts and let met know if you ever find a veggie burger that's significantly higher than meat's salt for the same serving size. who told u it is? The N.A.S. (National Academy of Sciences) stated, "Most of the world's population today subsists on vegetarian or near-vegetarian diets for reasons that are economic, philosophical, religious, cultural, or ecological." We can find all the needed nutrients in foods without meat. Protein is in many foods without meat. Of the twenty-two amino acids, the body itself can synthesize all but eight, and these eight "essential amino acids" exist in abundance in foods without meat. Also note, "Vegetarian diets offer a number of nutritional benefits...though it is commonly thought that vegetarians have higher rates of deficiencies in iron or calcium, studies endorsed by the A.D.A found that this was not true." The A.D.A (American Dietetic Association) is the largest organization of nutrition in America today, and say, "Vegetarians are characterized by longer life and significantly lower number of cancer cases in comparison with Americans who eat meat." That was confirmed by the American National Institute of Health. If you eat meat you’re eating up risks against your health. sometimes sick cows and other animals such as pigs and chickens have their corpses mashed up together in the meat that you eat. Meat (e.g. hot dogs and chicken nuggets) like the kind you can find at many “fast food” places today contain nearly any and everything (e.g. claws and eyeballs) from the slaughterhouse floor. Many artificial things tend to get added to disguise it. Sometimes when chewing meat, you may feel a sort of “rubber crunch” that is usually something you’d likely realize isn’t right if you knew what it was. But that rotting meat from sick animals could be anywhere because laws today don’t really require sellers to say exactly what you’re buying, where it came from, or its situation before they sold it. Recently the F.D.A. (Food and Drug Administration) concluded a plan that didn’t ban cloned meat to be sold and didn’t require the meat you’re buying to specify if it’s cloned meat. Animals pumped with drugs are allowed too. Also note, “…the Food and Drug Administration approved the spraying of live viruses onto poultry and meat products. The virus spray, manufactured by a Baltimore company called Intralytix, contains six different viral strains designed to kill listeria, a germ that sickens an estimated 2,500 Americans yearly. Meat companies do not have to inform consumers which products have been treated and which have not…Decades ago, we learned that the fat and cholesterol in meat boost the amount of cholesterol in consumers' blood. And that leads to heart attacks. So doctors advised us to cut back on meat and get to know vegetables. Then it was carcinogens…Then it was chemicals. Studies showed that mercury, other heavy metals, and various pesticides show up in animal tissues…State and federal monitoring agencies issued strong warnings, especially for children and for women in their reproductive years. Vegetables could be washed or peeled, but that wasn't possible with fish or other meats. Then it was germs… And government agencies spend millions of dollars trying to contain the problem…Mad cow disease emerged…Government and industry officials spend millions on testing and culling operations, and neurological researchers study the relationships between mad cow disease and rare forms of dementia. Meanwhile, scientists might observe that there is no mad asparagus or mad eggplant disease...bird flu has emerged as a potential pandemic…Ordinarily they would pose no risk to humans. But our collective appetite for poultry…means that enormous flocks of chickens, turkeys and other birds are raised for meat..."

@@airplayrule I agree with most of your post, but I don't believe any plant based meat alternatives have dietary cholesterol. Plant based burgers do tend to have more sodium than the listed sodium for ground beef, but salt is usually added when being cooked. BTW chicken sold in stores have been soaked in brine which makes them high in sodium. Red meat has been found to be a class 2A (probable) carcinogen by the WHO. Links on request. As I see it, plant based burgers vary from one to another in terms of healthfulness, but remember that Impossible and Beyond Meat burgers were designed to appeal to meat eaters. They are healthier than burgers made from cows, even if they do have more sodium. To get healthier plant based burgers, check the ingredients and nutritional information on the package before you buy.

@sunwahp.527
5 жыл бұрын
@Ricky Klein thats funny, because i am lifting weights and put on muscle even though i eat mostly plant based. So... Germanys strongest man is vegan, americas contestor for the olympic games in weight lifting last year is vegan,(in fact there is a ton of world class professional vegan athletes and bodybuilders in rising number, i dont wanna do your job and type in google "vegan athletes" and type in a few random names of vegan top athletes and what they have done...i think you can do that yourself...if you want to, which i doubt a little bit) Why doctors need to be muscular i dont know(the famous vegan doctors i know like neil bernard, definitely look healthy and lean though)...but if you want to see muscular human beings you look at a bodybuilder (!) and not a medical professional (again, "vegan bodybuilder" in google!) sentientmedia.org/u-s-farmed-animals-live-on-factory-farms/ type in google "how much meat comes from factory farms" and look at a few pages I think its great that you are only eating meat from once happy animals, hooray for that, definitely a step in the right direction! By the way: of course you dont see factory farms anywhere near you or anywhere. those giant buildings are mostly far away from any living area, because people dont want these factories near them, they stink, are loud and pollute the area around them
@sunwahp.527
5 жыл бұрын
@Ricky Klein First of all i dont see that, and i am plant based for over 8 years! I did not injure myself so far nor did i loose my musclemass. 2. Especially when youre an (professional)athlete you are very aware of vitamins, minerals, proteins, amino-acid, ....to say that top athletes suffer from vitamin defeciency is like saying math professors dont know 2+2 Meat is not a vitamin bomb...if you need a vitamin-bomb you eat an apple or brokkoli. The only vitamin you can not get from plants today is B12 and the only reason is that you get it from dirt, or to be exact from dirt in untoched forrests, because todays earth has only a fraction of its vitamins and minerals than its used to have. Also in most animal farms animals get their vitamins (including b12) supplemented. I personally dont see the harm with taking an effervescent vitamin tablet once every few days to make sure you got everything you need! 2. I am not talking about bodybuilders that take steroids, i mean normal humans that lifted weights professionally for a long time. Not those huge over the top ones 3. A biological fact: if you move your body in a specific way regularly, you gain muscle over time to support that movement...its that simple, and if you dont move at all you will loose youre muscles, even if you eat a whole cow every day! Youll simply get fat and diabetic.
@sunwahp.527

@Ricky Klein you could say the same about a carnivore diet, if you get your vitamins over supplements animals you eat have to eat first. but i am not a follower of the whole " there is a nature indetended" or a "godintended" diet for humans. i my opinion we first in all of history have the possibility to actually be (consciously) healthy and seeing all the technology that emerged and is going to emerge, which seems "unnatural", i dont see the harm in including a vitamin pill in you diet. (which is what most athletes do already anyways) you dont have to convince me of your diet and i dont have to convince you of mine, BUT what you are doing is spreading MYTHS (like vegans are weak, cant build muscle, are unhealthy, etc. etc.) which objectively (and in my expirience ofmyself and other vegans i know) simply arent true... and myths need to be dispelled and educated! said that, i really like your attitude of only eating grassfed, once happy animals. thats more than most people do a nice day to you too!
@sunwahp.527
5 жыл бұрын
@Ricky Klein you are spreading myths..as listed above? Also as said above, a plant diet is not a deficient diet. I also explained why a vegan diet is not defecient above...i dont see why i have to explain everything again Maybe there are myth about carnivore diets, but most of what this conversation was about was you spreading myths and...lets say extremely subjective perceptions about veganism, and not me spreading myths about carnivore diets To bad if the vegan diet wasnt for you. It seems a very lot of people i discuss that topic with suddenly only eat meat from the farmer next door...which is weird cause 99% comes from factory farms...and suddenly they all did a vegan or vegetarian diet and it almost killed them dead!! Which is unfortunate Just look at all the stories about people who quit various meat diets Lets agree for you to stop spreading myths and we're fine :)

The inmates population would be a poor choice to compare what they eat to this new product, however the guards and sheriff's cafeterias serve identifiable meat's such as prime beef ribs, t-bone steaks, etc. This would be an excellent opportunity to get an honest opinion.

First of all let's get something straight here: This is NOT "meatless" MEAT. It is not in anyway meat whatsoever. It is a product made from vegetable matter textured to look, behave and taste similar to meat when cooked. Should you use this in place of meat? That is entirely YOUR personal choice based on whatever decision making process you decide to use (ie; fact or emotion based). I for one like meat and will continue to enjoy it as long as it continues to remain available and within my food budget. I know that there are folks out there who strongly believe in being vegetarians and I respect that, but I expect you to respect those of us who choose NOT to be vegetarians, and don't force YOUR way of living onto us, as seems to be happening in too many places. If you want to attack the real reason for environmental problems worldwide then dealing with an ever expanding global population should be your first priority.

Saw this on Snapchat report too. I just think one thing this article should have considered is the effects of GMOs and soy in these supposedly healthier, more eco-friendly burgers. I guess there probably aren't a lot of statistics on this, but I think just because the overall effect is impactful on our environment, will it also have a good impact on our overall health? I think there are more risks to consider. Millennials don't want a solution to improve one factor, we want a solution to improve both. Overall it's a great start, but I think we need to focus on the production process, and the natural effects it will have on other industries. (food waste, preservatives, chemicals, health care, packaging, storage requirements) New products (though not entirely new) produced on a large scale often lack regulation and quality standards that are only discovered through adverse effects to consumers later down the line. No one had a problem with corn syrup until obesity rates grew, no one had a problem with plastic consumption until water pollution became apparent, etc... Let's be smart. Get ahead of possible problems, and introduce products that mitigate long-term and delayed risks to our health and the environment as a whole. Just because veggie meat looks like a good sustainable solution, doesn't mean the impact it will have will be entirely positive. We aren't looking at the full picture and we definitely are looking at the long term picture. History will repeat itself once again...

I didn't like how meat 'alternatives' weren't a nutricial substitute. Usually they had a lot more carbs and fat than protein content.

I've tried those meatless burgers and oh God they taste terrible. I had to put twice as much ketchup and mayonnaise on my burger. The problem with these burgers and meatless substitutions, they normally are not better then meat when it comes to nutrition. So it's nutritionally as bad and taste worst then regular burgers. I hope they can change and evolve to a point where it taste good.

Isn't that how it always is? like VHS cost big $ for players n blank videos then it got better n cheaper...same with DVDs, laser eye surgery, etc. Impossible Whopper Burger is a "whopping" $1 more than the old Whopper but think of the healthcare/environmental costs n problems saved. n wouldn't after recouping their research n marketing costs, they break even, and then...well it's crops. crops are WAAY cheaper than meat without the cruelty. so why not?

I'm suprised that american companies aren't copying what Quorn are doing here in the UK where Premier Foods makes each product from a fungi that nobody has ever heard off and then sell it to supermarkets who put the products in the "vegetarian" or "vegan" section of supermarkets... Edit: Its not "Premier Foods" but rather "Monde Nissin Corporation"

Everything is about the taste, if they managed to produce a meat substitute with 90% the taste of the real meat then i will glad to try it. Of Course the meat substitute must be healthy and without any GMO! But i think that it is very difficult to replicate the taste and feel of real meat and not only beef but chicken, pork, ect. probably they need at least a decade to achieve that goal.

@stefanx8344

I firmly believe nobody who is buying this stock has actually tasted any of these burgers. I have tried all brands and all of them (in varying degrees) have the same distinct and very disgusting taste/aftertaste. Last time i tried i threw away the whole 2nd burger bc it made me gag when i tried to take a bite. And mind you this was the one that has that specific flavor the least, namely incredible burger. I suspect this distinct and godawful flavor is coming from the production process of the protein itself. I find it hard to believe that they all made specifically that when creating the artificial meat flavour.

all taste tests for Impossible/Beyond burgers by hard core fast food/meat eaters show they couldn't tell the difference n loved it so...what are you talking about? im confused. im sure there's some brands with some flavors that taste like a veggie burger...is that it? P.S I'm working on a good vid on this for next year maybe. click my sub n bell icons if u want.

@@airplayrule it is not a "veggie" flavour. I like the flavour of veggie burgers. This is a specific taste that i suspect comes from the production process, its present in all brands! Beyong burger the most! Then impossible, and incredible the least. I have studied this subject online and the reason this is not widely recognized by ppl who have eaten, i suspect, is because its an aftertaste. I have found about 5 other reviews online that speak of the same thing! Some more reviews who dont speak of the godawful aftertaste, but simply say they dont like it, without specifying why, but the vast majority likes them. I am myself confused too as to why people dont taste what i taste because in for example beyond burger the flavour is very strongly present! Maybe i have more refined tastebuds, maybe because these ppl ate it in a burger (sandwhich) which conceals the taste more. Btw my mom tried them too, and thought they taste great, and serves them now too in her catering business!

@@danielmanahan692 Agree I don't listen to the meat lobby, I have not eaten meat in 5+ years. Eat a plant-based diet, supplemented with some high-quality eggs and real cheese from sheep living in Italy. For me, a costly factory processed produced based on soy and peas protein is not for me. If this cost more than meat then the ecological inputs in total likely are higher too. It is progressing, just one needs to be skeptical.
