The bloodiest conflict in human history was kick started on September 1, 1939, when over 1.5 million German soldiers crossed into Poland in an Operation codenamed Case White.
This not only ignited the most brutal conflict humanity had ever witnessed, but it also marked the beginning of a terrifying new form of fast mechanized warfare popularly known as the Blitzkrieg, or Lightning War.
Between 1939 and 1941, the German blitzkrieg defeated Poland, Denmark, Norway, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, France and the 380,000 soldiers of the British Expeditionary Force stationed in France.
