Term limits and holding them accountable for the job they're doing or not doing..... Well that's just a pipe dream when theatrics seem to be just enough for them because the uninformed voter is stuck in culture war bs, sadly.

I'm from GER. The trend is also there. It's more about who said it than it's about what he said. Of cause media plays a roll here, since social media is more powerful than ever, it's becoming a real driver for it: the "Don't think" people. What a world it would be, if politicians (regardless the institution) cannot be reelected for a second term in a row. Imagine how it would change political decision making if no politician would have an incentive to act tactically. We wouldn't have "Do Nothing" congress. We wouldn't have even an Ukraine war if Putin never had the chance to stay too long in power to become a dictator.

Thank you, Chris, for explaining about why Congress is not doing their job. We, as a people, must keep pushing for more political parties. How? I don't know. 🤔 Perhaps petitions, like you have said, become an independent. All I know we need to do something. This tit for tat, coming in every day to the capital, argue, fight, drinking coffee and deciding whether or not to pass a bill has got to go.

There are other popularly supported bills on the table that🎉 can make the republican majority congress shine while simultaneously win a little over two million votes for the republican party. One of those bills waiting to be voted on that is quite popular for its social fairness is the social security Fairness Act of 2023 which will help the republican party to win the 2024 presidential elections. This bill is sitting there itching to be voted on and make the party shine.

The separation of powers and checks and balances are supposed to be between the various branches and levels of government. This doesn’t work so well because people at all levels of government share the same ideals. The party (not necessarily 2) system allows people to converge on the same ideas. I agree that there is a problem today. The 2 parties we have thrive on nothing but extremely opposing each other. The advantage of a 2 party system is that it creates the checks and balances otherwise absent. So if we throw out the parties what is the solution? Isn’t it good that democrats make sure republicans don’t break the law and visa versa? It’s divisive yes, but creates absolute power without it. Without 2 parties, you end up with authoritarian mono party. And a third party never has enough power to be more than 2 really. I guess I’d like you to address these thoughts in the discussion of being anti-2 party. It’s not as simple as “do away with the non-constitutional 2 party system”.
