I hope more resources are spent on this anti-ageing cause. How is it that people deny ageing and death? We should focus exclusively on this issue which, if resolved, will buy us more time to resolve other issues.

There is already so much people can do to maintain their own health. Professor Sinclair in an interview points out the number one issue is "Don't smoke", and he said "Don't put anything harmful into your body." That includes food additives, etc. He says not to eat 3 meals a day and to exercise and maintain a normal weight. BKS Iyengar taught Yoga and Jack LaLanne, the Godfather of Fitness began teaching in 1935, so the information has been there.

Biological organisms are massively parallel biological computer. If you think of it like a adversarial generative network.. the randomization comes from mutations that happen during the reproduction stage. the objective is to maximize survival for a species.

but it is important to remember that evolution works only at the level of the individual and not at the level of the species

@@donovan3956 It has been argued rather persuasively by Joshua Mitteldorf that extreme selective pressure such as epidemics or high predation can cause rapid enough swings in populations that selection rises to group level. Aging would be useful to a group because it would mitigate the sharpness of population swings in such circumstances, the older members being killed off/consumed first and thus providing a sort of buffer for the rest of the group, especially the young. Mathematical modeling apparently bears this out. ("Evolutionary Origins of Aging", Mitteldorf, from the "Future of Aging" collection of essays).

@@donovan3956 that is certainly the broad consensus at the moment, however that doesn't necessarily mean that it is true

Richard, I will make a similar comment to what I've said before -which was promptly deleted. Great interviews but it's not necessary to create these short playlists. Just makes things unnecessarily complicated. People interested in these topics don't need/want to be spoon fed. Please don't take this as a negative and continue the great job

I like this style though, I enjoy bite size learning daily. Anyway, I guess it's the characteristic of this channel. There are so many 1-2 hours interview channels in youtube already. Please don't give up, Richard!

Human attention span is around 20 minutes, you can see why Ted talks are within 20 minutes, you can get more out of it than sitting an hour to watch it. What this channel doing make sense.

If I understood correctly, aging itself is totally useless , but the resources needed to stop it would be far too great to be able to be done without inconvenience elsewhere, such as very reduced reproduction.

Hi Thanks for sharing. I am on the fence. I mostly agree with Dr. Ted Ho we have multiple theories of aging, none of which are entirely satisfying.
