Father , if one were to look a little deeper into fasting , would I be correct that fasting is a form of sanctified suffering ? The discomfort or pain created by the suffering , when freely turned over to God energizes our prayers and God uses this energy/sanctified suffering to help others in need . A victim soul would be an extreme form of sanctified suffering . The German woman Annalise Michelle was asked to be a victim soul to make atonement for drug addicts and bad priests . This would also explain why Padre Pio wore a hair shirt so as he could suffer for others and turn this suffering over to God to useto answer prayer any way He would see fit . And is that sanctified suffering returned to people in a magnified way ? Meaning God takes a person's sanctified suffering , and magnifies the good it can create 7 times?

Hi Theodore, many thanks for your comment. The general principle there certainly seems right; though seven times is probably a severe understatement! I'm not overly familiar with the theology on victim souls, that's something I'll have to look into more. God bless, Katie (founder at Called to More)

Thank you for another great video. As I said in another comment I'm converting to Catholicism and you've really answered a lot of questions for me. Just curious, I'm reading the Baltimore catechism, my Catholic Life, some books by Bishop Fulton Sheen and I just got my Catholic Bible. I got the Douay-Rheims version. Is that a good Bible or would you recommend a different one?
@ctmcatholic
2 жыл бұрын
Hi @Ludo Down, those are all great resources. There are several approved translations of the Bible for Catholics, and the Duoay-Rheims would be the most literal, which is great if that’s what you’re looking for. If you want something with slightly more modern language there’s the RSV, and even more so again there’s the Amended Revised New American Bible (ARNAB). This article explains it well: www.catholiccompany.com/magazine/how-choose-catholic-bible-5511 Hope that helps!

You got to all the possibilities while fasting, happy you did that, fasting is one of the more misunderstood things in our practices. We followed the “ old church” practices because we rediscovered them and they are so fulfilling if you understand the reason, Faith and Reason, remember? So we do the Fridays fasting as the old ways, we used to abstain from meat for long years, then we learned that it was Fridays the recommended day for fasting. Muslim do it we can do it more. Anyway as Jesus says” I’d you are fasting don’t go out looking sad and gloomy and with bad appearance “ o something like that. Also fasting give you a lot of graces, believe it or not, if you have something to ask the Lord something hard, fast because in fasting we show our commitment to Him and that we are serious in what we ask. We do the fasting with my husband for the conversion of one of our sons, and that is a tough one because of the World we live in, but we have plenty of confidence and lately he is not rejecting the idea of “ organize religion “ how they called it. We have to ask and nag God as the woman and the scraps to the dog that she didn’t accept a NO for an answer, we need to be like her. Also fasting is named in regards of expel demons, Jesus says to the apostles “ these spirits are hard and you need not only prayer but fasting”. I guess we need to fortify in spirit and that only happens when we can control our basic instincts and fasting is one way we can control our attachments to the physical world and elevated ourselves to the spiritual one more firmly. Not that I am saying that we need to entangled in direct battles with these spirits, priests and all the hierarchy should do that more often but we as lay people can do some damage to, specially if they mess up with us, now indifference is the best practice as when we face them but not indifference that you don’t care or you don’t think they exist. St Teresa de Avila she had the best attitude, she was attacked a lot, but she was pure and in state of Grace what remind me - we should too- because that is the best way to be prepared for the battle and be more powerful, remember the Devil is the accuser, it will tell Jesus all your sins, all your hidden stuff, that is why is so important to come clean, in confession is a good thing to say” lord I’m sorry because I sinned and I ACCUSED myself to do this and that” that is the best policy no because God doesn’t know your sins, He knows everything about us but you need to repent and understand how much punished you are when you sin and repent!! You cannot repent of something you don’t know offended the Father! Have a wonderful day and continue your evangelization work, tu have a gift for that!!!!!
