Brand X XL dropper in the UK for about £110 ($140). Tried a Rockshox Reverb C1, but had the dreaded squish. Brand X simply works, available in loads of size options and I have the external routed option on my Fatbike.

Brand-X does seem like a great option for a budget under $150 when you don't really care about maximum insertion depth. However, we primarily cater towards the audience that is riding pretty aggressive enduro/DH trails where the maximum amount of drop is important. We don't see the Brand-X too much here in the USA as they are primarily sold in Europe. We hope to see more and see how they feel! -Mike

@@TheLostCo As usual Mike is on the money. An additional $60 for a OneUp v2 is money well spent over the Brand-X post which comes as OEM on most bikes. Premium feel, easier to rebuild, way less overall height/insertion depth and better support in parts and warranty (the OneUp crew are one of the best for warranty and support).

@@lenolenoleno $60 not well spend considering you also have to buy a dropper lever and cable for the OneUp which is approximately another $60. @@unclechimney6371 OneUp are known to be one of the best small MTB brands out there. Some of the best product support/warranty/nicest people you'll ever meet making innovative products and supporting local riders. Would happily give a bit extra to support the little guy making interesting/innovative products that are also good value for money. You also assume everyone is riding 2019/2020+ bikes with lower seat tube insertion depths? My 2017 bike can only fit a 150mm Brand-X post, but can fit a 180mm OneUp which has been fantastic for the ass-buzzing steep trails where I live. I also saved pretty much 100grams for a longer dropper post vs. a Brand-X. No weight weenie, but that's a decent weight saved for a a touch more $ and a longer drop whilst supporting a good company. Careful, your "elitism" is showing.

One up posts are great, i run them on 2 of my bikes. ONLY downside I’ve encountered is they need to be greased fairly often if you ride and wash your bike a lot. Worth it though.

I've got 2 OneUp posts. One on my Trek Farley and the other on my Giant Anthem. My Anthem came with a 120mm post and, with the stack height improvements that OneUp has made, it really looks like I could've squeezed a 150mm post in there instead of another 120mm dropper.

I'm hecka biased, but I think it's more a tossup between PNW and OneUp depending on your frame. Oneup for sure has a more compact design, but not by too much compared to the Loam. Plus the loam lets you dial in the travel in 5mm increments with a built in shim, while the oneup is in 10 or 20mm increments with little parts you have to keep track of. Plus PNW offers a lifetime warranty. If you really aren't too worried about your seat tube, the Rainier V3 is $20 cheaper with a little more overall length. That's $20 in your pocket for Dropper lever, Gas, other bike needs. Can't go wrong with either though. As long as it's not a RockShox Reverb you're gonna be fine.
@TheLostCo

Both are great options! However, this was really just a complete generalized "best bang for your buck". If people call and want the best value for their dropper, we always recommend the OneUp. However, some people just like PNW as a brand and the other cool features they offer. Dollar for dollar, we just all feel that OneUp is the 100% winner when considering the total packages that the other posts offer in the similar price range. -Mike

OneUp may be the best dropper ya'll sell, but it's far from the best bang for the buck! I've had two Brand X Ascend droppers and one of them for over 5 years now and it's only needed air once, just dead nuts reliable and they offer them up to 200mm for $135 with everything. I have a 210mm OneUp for only a year and it has been a terd for me and nothing but problems. Plus it costs almost twice as much and doesn't come with the cable and lever like the Ascend does!!

Thanks so much for the comment! We do apologize for not more clearly saying "Our Favorite Droppers" rather than making it seem like every other post isn't worth looking at. The TransX/BrandX stuff truly does seem to work great! It's just not a dropper post we ever see, and we totally forgot it exists. However, due to the tech features, sizes and support from OneUp, we still really do think this is the best bang for your buck when looking for the best performance and fitment for the buck. If you're having issues with a OneUp post, I will say that is extremely uncommon and OneUp would be super happy to help you take care of that. We sell tons of these, plus 99% of us here ride them, and we honestly rarely ever see an issue. When we do, OneUp takes care of it! -Mike

@@TheLostCo I appreciate the reply the Mike!! I do have to give OneUp credit for their customer service. I bought a 2021 Sentinel used and the dropper was giving me problems so they gave me 50% off a new cartridge. It still seems to be much more finicky than the Brand X dropper though because it loses pressure and returns real slow if I tighten my seat collar to much, but the seat stinks of I loosen it up at all🤔

I have couple oneup v2 droppers but honestly experience has been adequate at best. Even compared to cheap ones like trans x. Lightweight is great but it comes at expense of seatpost wall thickness(my guess) since the dropper action is so sensitive to seatpost collar pressure. It doesn’t shoot up as fast either(followed recommended psi).. I want to think I just got 2 lemons but, didn’t quite live up to the hype. Maybe expectation was too high for the price I’ve paid.

Forget about bang for your buck!! If I include myself and my 2 sons bikes I’ve used SDG, reverb, Fox transfer, Specalized command post and the One up. As far as reliability the One up has been by far the best!! At the other end the most unreliable by far has been the reverb!!! Considering the one up is also the cheapest and has the best insertion depth why wouldn’t you buy one?? Both myself and my son built up a Transition sentinel and a Santa Cruz Hightower, we got a deal on 2 Fox Transfer 175 droppers, neither of them fitted into the large frames, managed to send them both back and replaced them with one up v2, 180mm!!!! Had mine for 2 1/2 years now riding through everything the UK can throw at it and it’s never failed me. All I’ve had to do is loosen the collar and pack in some grease. 100% the best dropper on the market!!
