So what all can happen to the system if you don't get the proper vacuum? I under stand it can slug the compressor but is there anything else?

The reason we need to pull a vacuum down to 500 µm is because we want to get all of the moisture, air and noncondensibles out of the system. I had never heard of the compressor slugging because a proper vacuum not being pulled. The main thing that will happen is that the moisture that is left in the system will mix with the oil and create acid. The acid will attack the windings in the compressor and pretty soon you will have a compressor burn out. Also if you do not pull the proper vacuum you will leave air and gases in the system, people call them noncondensibles, and they will increase the pressure in the entire system because of Dalton's law. That will make the unit not cool like it should. But as far as I know the compressor will not flood if you do not pull the proper vacuum. Thank you for your question and I hope this answered your question.

Julio, the way you brake things down and explain using daily life examples makes such a complicated things easier to understand. I highly recommend the course you teach at udemy.
