Thank you Tommy ! This was another great video on one of the many technical aspects of making a top notch recording. As someone whose tried to make piano videos using my iPhone 13, I found the results to be a tad dim and grainy without the sharpness I expected. Thank you for discussing the missing ingredient ! PS Your videos are always sharp, crisp, well lit and professional looking. Great job !

Thanks! My very first ones were filmed on my iPhone 6s with nothing but my domestic lighting. When I look at them now, they definitely look a little grainy and lacking sharpness. I think the iPhone 13 camera is infinitely better but even it struggles slightly indoors without the help of extra lights. I bought mine slowly over time and am definitely glad that I did. The downside of course is that it is lots to set up and put away :-) Good luck with your recording projects!

Be careful - it’s easy to get carried away with shiny new gear lol There are plenty of inexpensive options available that are often perfectly fine for our needs.

Good tip, will studio lighting softbox helps?

Pleased it was helpful. I definitely think softboxes help. Otherwise the light can be very uneven which might distract viewers. The Andoer light set I got has softboxes plus diffusers for each light. My ring light has a diffuser which I think you can sort of see in the video.

These videos are wonderful; thank you. Could you go into the part software goes into making these videos? What software you use and maybe a little introduction to how to use it, particularly when you're recording the wide angle full shot of yourself playing at the piano and how you manage to get the video to match the audio so there's no lag between what you're playing and what we're seeing? Thank you so much Tommy!

Thanks for the feedback. I can definitely pull something together and post it over the next month or so. I have mentioned the software I use in passing in previous videos but never in much detail. I’ll do an end to end focusing on the software at each stage from capture to edit.

Hi. I'm pleased to say that I've managed to do the video you requested so I hope it answers the questions you had. You can find it here : kzitem.info/news/bejne/sp-HwJ6MrqqDmH4

You're THE BEST, Tommy! I've been trying to figure tnus out for 2 years. I can't tell you how many hours of incomprehensible KZitem videos on high-end professional equipment I've watched and how much money I've spent on switchers and consults with recording engineers....and NO ONE came close to making this as easy and doable as you. You are such a blessing to us all! Thank you so very much!
