I think it’s pretty cool how back then we respected the dead so much to make sculptures of them. I’m guessing this was a similar method for making the sarcophagus. Thos was done in ancient Rome, not so much Greece. In Ancient Greece, sculptors usually made their subjects more beautiful/idealized than they were in life. Roman sculptors actually prefered to keep the wrinkles, scars, and sour expressions because they thought it made them look more dignified.
