Another fantastic video. “Dumb as hell” is right when it comes to banning books. Your conclusion nailed it.

What a great rundown of the insanity that is happening. It breaks my heart. The one good thing about book banning is that it gives me an easy 'next books to read' list. But hiding and censoring people's experiences is so detrimental and doesn't set up any child for successfully navigating life in their future.

Thank you, and yeah it's so sad to watch this unfold. Totally agree about it being good fuel for the TBR, there are sooo many books people are upset about this could very easily become a series.

This video resonates even more as we see SCOTUS show how willing it is to take away even more protected human rights. Thank you for making this so clear! 👏👏👏

This is such a great video. It's a great summary if the issues for anyone like myself who is not in the US. The people trying to ban books seem to have failed to recognise the power of the internet. In 1988 in the UK we had legislation (section 28) that prohibited the 'promotion of homosexuality'. The implications of this were profound and although the legislation was eventually changed it is still having a profound and negative effect on people's lives today. There is so much we can all learn about the world, our shared history and each other from books that can and does make the world a better place for all of us. Books give power to the reader to open their minds, think differently, have greater empathy for others, understand and reflect on history and on the things that need to change today and in the future. I think this is what the 'book banners' are afraid of.

Ah, thank you so much! I'm happy this was insightful for you as someone living abroad. It's so saddening/maddening what's happening, and in the end we're not doing kids any favors by blocking access, or at least attempting to. Your last couple of sentences here are so eloquently worded, and you’re exactly right, Debra!
