I kind of did this once. I was in a car with my cousin, I overheard a convo he was having with his mate who was eagerly detailing how he cheated and then 'successfully' lied to/manipulated his gf. I had just been cheated on and could not abide this cruelty. So I said to my cousin, we must tell this girl. Drove to her house, told her, she was devastated (a really gentle, sweet girl). She asked if we could drive to see her bf, so we did. He was furious, almost spitting in my face, I calmly explained it had nothing to do with my cousin, just me, to direct all his anger at me. I said I had no interest in what she should do (leave/stay), I just felt she deserved the truth. She decided to stay with him, for several years, I never saw them again. If you want to help, make it discrete. Give her the number of a domestic violence service or ask her if she needs help when he is not there. A woman standing for another woman, one who is beaten by her husband? Not in million years. No comforting gentle hand on her back, no reassuring smiles or words of kindness, no mention of safe options and certainly not dovorce. No, it's much better to stay in abusive marriages for the sake of society, honour and of course your home and kids. Afterall if he hits her, she must have done something to annoy him like talking back or better, "its his right as a husband" or "he is a man, they lose their temper". 2021 yet misogyny is alive in some cultures.

It’s a difficult thing to understand if you’ve never been in her position. Let me try to share a little perspective. She has no desire to leave, her home is a prison, her life is a tightrope walk on razor wire over a vat of acid. It’s not just one wrong move that might do her in, it’s hesitating too long on a step, too deep a breath. Look at how she’s constantly a “space case”, her brain is always in a state of fight or flight, but the fight is all gone and flight could mean death. But it’s the only thing she knows.. The “what if”s aren’t scarier than what she’s dealing with now, but it’s the fear of the fallout, “where do I go from here?” “What do I do now?” “How can I support myself?” There’s a good chance, if she attempts divorce, or even running away, her own family and friends will turn on her. The actresses portrayed their characters phenomenally well, capturing subtle behaviors as well as the iconic line “it’ll just make it worse.” Cuts deep.

One time I saw a man enter a McDonald's where I was sitting down eating and harass a woman who was looking at the menu. It seemed they knew each other and he was very close to her putting his hands on her arms and trying to get her to leave with him. I didn't know what to do (i couldnt have called 911). He was talking to her while she had her arms crossed and kept shaking her head saying no. At some point he put his arm around her and was trying to walk her towards the exit but she resisted and eventually he took off. I kinda fell bad for not taking action earlier but I was kind of scared of interfering. If I ever witness that again I think I would call the police.
@chococat2119

It is scary to interfere but as you said it SEEMED so you don't know for sure if he did. He might have been trying to kidnap her. And even if she did know him you don't know what he might do to her bc it could lead to death. If you don't want to call the police act normal and go up to the counter and alert the workers. From there if they have security or someone who can stand up to the due they hopefully will or they will alert the authorities. Again it is scary but got to put yourself in their shoes, you would wish to have someone help in any way they can to get you out of the situation safely. And again you don't got to go yourself like in this situation you are in a food building so you have the advantage of asking the workers to do the call or step in or you can get a group to help.

It's hard to know what to do in the spur of the moment! But it's a good sign that you have the conviction to speak up next time. It's good to have a few prepared lines or actions so you don't have to overthink it. There are many resources online for how to diffuse abusive situations in public, highly recommend 👌

@@user-yd4tm3gl8s this is so true, another thing you could do is walk up to her as if you know her and ask her to check something out at your table, that way you can help get her out of the situation she's him without unwanted attention from others

I always intervene firmly ( it gives you more power if you look calm & confident )if I see stuff like that. They're usually cowards who will back off. I only had one guy ignore me & carry on hitting his gf, so I called Police on his ass. She was like a rabbit in the headlights poor thing.

Horrible. Horrible. I grew up with something like this. I'm stronger now, every year a little wiser, a little stronger and out of the situation long ago. I can spot these people in seconds and write them off instantly, before they get a grip. Deep down there's still a frozen, terrified girl but I'm glad I became aware of these types early on. I think I'm a lucky one.

I wish domestic violence was taken much more seriously. In so many of these cases, an abuser is thrown into jail for a night, bonds out with no problem, and later kills someone. That kind of rage with no self-control is dangerous.

Because when they film scenes with music the music is put in afterwards so they’re essentially dancing in silence. Sometimes they don’t even use the music the initially planned to use because of unexpected copyright issues.

Okay ladies listen carefully, this is why men have balls without a bone casing, balls are like the corner pills in Pacman, once you swallow them no angry monster can touch you! Always go for the balls, show no mercy and he will run away!
