@MindShiftSkeptic What does it mean to be locally real? “Real,” meaning that objects have definite properties independent of observation-an apple can be red even when no one is looking; “local” means objects can only be influenced by their surroundings, and that any influence cannot travel faster than light. [Locally real = fundamental, necessary] What does it mean the universe is not locally real? Under quantum (not-natural; 0D) mechanics, nature (1D, 2D, 3D and 4D) is not locally real: particles may lack properties such as spin up or spin down prior to measurement, and they seem to talk to one another no matter the distance. (Because the outcomes of measurements are random, these correlations cannot be used for faster-than-light communication.) [Not locally real = not-fundamental, not-necessary] This is important because Newton and Einstein's Materialist/Empiricist "3 + 1 space-time" says that 1D, 2D, 3D and 4D are fundamental/necessary while 0D is not-fundamental/not-necessary. A year ago quantum physics proved that 0 is necessary (locally real) and nonzero is not-necessary (not locally real), proving Materialistm/Empiricism to be contradictory at the core, so outright false. Leibniz and his Realist camp argued that zero is necessary and nonzero is not-necessary and his calculus and physics actually match reality. TL;DR Zero has been proven "fundamental/necessary/locally real" for a year now. If you think the difference between 0 and 1 changing isn't epic just remember that Rick Sanchez collapsed a Galactic Federation by changing a 1 into a 0.
@NotNecessarily-ip4vc

@MindShiftSkeptic Our most important tools for determining reality (in order): 1. Math 2. Physics 3. Chemistry 4. Biology The literal difference between 0 and 1 changed (which is necessary and which is not-necessary) a year ago. Everyone can't stop repeating the same old tired Materialism/Empiricism Religion vs Science arguments we've heard for well over 300 years. Under Materialism/Empiricism BOTH Religion and Science have interpreted their own positions in a fundamentally contradictory manner. Neither side can win without studying Realism (which was proven correct a year ago). Remove the contradictions and "life's biggest questions" become self-evident.

6 For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit. 1Peter 4:6 KJV 18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: 19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison; 20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. 1Peter 3:18-20 KJV So, it looks like based on scripture that everybody will get that opportunity to learn about God and decide to rely on faith whether it’s in this life or after this life. So, what is the point of this video?

I was a vulnerable young kid. I’m 24 now. It is exactly why I think that anyone who wants to convert to Christianity should 1) Read the Bible cover to cover. 2) Be at least 18+. 3) Have informed consent about the religion. It’s like reading over the document carefully, before giving your signature. When you look at Christianity critically and without the emotional manipulation, it is absurd. In my upbringing, my late father was devoted to contributing 20% of his income to the church. The pastor had a persuasive pitch, emphasizing the idea of sowing seeds with God for future growth. However, when I was 13, my parents divorced, and he experienced significant losses. Despite these challenges, he held onto his faith, keeping a Bible on his nightstand until he reached the age of 90, although he was not as outspoken as he once was in his earlier years as a street preacher. He didn't even go to church anymore, lived with a lady he wasn't married to for 25 years. I engaged in numerous profound philosophical conversations with my dad, attempting to dissect the ideology behind his commitment. I could sense his discomfort, prompting me to refrain from pushing further. But he obviously shifted his beliefs to some degree. RIP Pops

We lived near the church. One day the priest came to visit and asked for donations. My father said “Why do you ask me? Why don’t you ask god?” I don’t remember what the response was, but I remember that my father’s next piece of advice was “Then get a job.” We were working class: my father was working hard to repay the mortgage taken out to buy the land for his farm. I don’t think the idea of “sowing seeds with god” would have found favor with him. As farmer he knew that if you want a harvest you have to put seeds in the ground, not in other people’s pockets. He had a great sense of humor and a great heart. At the funeral even people I barely knew told me how good a friend he had been to them, almost a brother. I miss him. 😭

A person should not entertain the idea held by many fools, and what is claimed by some doctrines, that at the time of a person's conception or birth, the Holy One, blessed be He, decrees whether he will be righteous or a sinner. This is untrue. Each person is able to be righteous or bad. Similarly, he may be wise or foolish, merciful or cruel, miserly or generous, or he may acquire any other character traits. I totally agree with your friend who said they just know god is so real that they don’t need to read the Bible. Exactly. I was raised mainstream Catholic so the only Bible stories and verses I was exposed to were sanitized. As an adult, I took a Bible study class and really read the Bible for the first time. Reading the Bible is what shook my beliefs to the core. I knew right away it was all a lie. The Bible reads EXACTLY like pagan mythology with the angry, revengeful god who must be worshipped properly. Anyone who has read a few articles or taken a high school class on the lives of ancient tribes can see the direct correlation between the Bible and mythology. The idea that "I'm saved by my belief so now I can be a shit" is ridiculous to me - but then so is all religion. Just be a good person, o it that's too hard, try not to go out of your way to hurt others.

Spot On Brandon 🎉 no matter how dramatic or lackluster the ✌️christian experience ✌️for most professing believers I encounter, the overwhelming majority make it clear their holy scriptures are here for them to cherry pick what feels good and then it’s back to this emotionally charged, grace-walled and guilt ridden, narcissistic behavior that I’ve come to know as the true religion. Your channel has echoed deeply in my own choice to investigate and test the truth of it all. I’ve found that the above characteristics are the only power of spirit that seems to be oh so busy in the lives of so many that say they follow the way, the truth, and the life, and then the outcome is to forsake their selves permanently and cling to this delusional behavior and delusional validation. I too have over 30 years of deep connection, raised up and devoted to this religion and it’s done nothing but cause confusion for my friends and family, frustration and misery for my own life because of them, and paper relationships that burn up faster than a Gehenna trash fire when they are tested. Thank you man, this video is one, I think, will stand out to people that are really looking at life for what it is vs what traditions we don’t choose to be born into in the beginning 🤘👾🤘👾🤘👾🤘👾🤘👾

Excellent as usual! The thought of having God's "favor" always bothered me. In my line of work I met many people that were suffering in many ways and I could not reconcile while some people could have "favor" and others seems utterly abandoned (particularly abused children and those with severe mental illness abandoned by society). I am supposed to happy that I have God's "favor" when I encounter so much hurt?! In my "Christian" life many people would reply with "I'm blessed and highly favored" when asked how they were doing. It was almost shameful NOT to give this reply. What the heck did that even mean?! Sorry I digress! When my doubt caused me to "pull the thread" on the sweater of Christianity, it wasn't long before that sweater was a big old pile of twisted messy yarn that no longer served a purpose in my life! I’d love to hear your thoughts on Christian missionaries. I didn’t know ppl still even did this until recently. My little cousin is raising money to fund a trip to “Southern Asia” to preach the gospels. His mission is to convert Hindu into Christian. “Because they don’t have access or info about Jesus.” This makes me so sad and a little angry. I have a lot of respect for Hinduism as it’s a beautiful culture with beautiful ethics. And to think Christians want to convert them seems insane to me. And awful. Naturally he’d have to cherry pick and leave out a vast majority of the Bible to convince them to abandon their gods that are older than the Bible says the earth is…just crazy. And to think it would work? Or why anyone would think that’s a good idea? Also, to add, both our moms (they’re sisters) are divorced, both of us have siblings that had children out of wedlock. My cousin himself has tattoos and a nose piercing. He’s also not a virgin and not married. Just seems so strange that he and his own family don’t follow the “rules” to the religion but he wants to go to Asia and convince them. My head is just spinning

Hebrews 11:1, evidence of things hoped for and the substance of things unseen.. faith the grain of a mustard seed could move mountains....etc Being taught to listen to that still small voice or that god uses dreams to speak. And all that was needed is faith for discernment which are two different spiritual gifts (discernment and faith) to figure out what god was trying to say to me. All those lessons did was reinforce that god favors only special people. Good grief... so much convoluted nonsense!

Here is the portion of scripture that Paul the Apostle explains on the 9 gifts: "Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant...There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. How does that favourite argument of free will work when god hands out gifts of faith, lying spirits and hardened hearts? Is devine manipulation how an all powerful god gets things done? It's about as senseless as the 'fine tuning' argument for the universe, where an all powerful god needs have certain parameters to make things work. The arguments from ignorance just don't stop, and when pointed out believers say they 'just have faith'. There is no situation where god loses.

The main excuse from them for me not believing is that I'm the problem. I no longer argue the existence of gods, that is pointless. I usually ask why they need a god when I don't and go from there. I used to, at one time in my life, believe in ghosts. I truly believed that my house was haunted and at times would catch glimpses of objects out of the corner of my eye, would hear voices and footsteps, felt a close spiritual presence, even had photos I’d taken in which I could see the ghosts or spirits. However, there came a day that I no longer believed in the supernatural, including ghosts. Would you believe that as soon as that happened, ALL of those ghosts immediately moved out of my house for good? The obvious truth is that I wanted to believe in ghosts so my brain/mind was simply giving me what I wanted. Once I stopped believing, those “ghosts” disappeared and never came back, not even trying to convince me they were ever real. After over 30 years of a personal relationship with Jesus, I began to question the existence of God around that same time, and isn’t it also strange that neither He nor Jesus have spoken one word to me since? The truth is, my mind simply stopped giving me what I’d previously wanted to believe. For if I can only speak to a being in my head, and it can only speak to me in my head, it’s highly likely that it only exist in my head. For you can want to believe something so strongly that your brain/mind will give you what you want. Throw some ancient, Bronze Age literature in there and you’ll will convince yourself that the delusion is real and true.

Now this is familiar territory I have seen dozens of people convert to Christianity through being born again. All these people who claim to have been 'born again', remains something that never made sense to me. Today I still think it is ridiculous. I would rather talk to a fundamentalist who knows their Bible thoroughly than someone who claims God's love and grace just filled their soul miraculously. Most often this happens of course to those who have experienced terrible things such as drug abuse, domestic abuse, gambling addictions, alcoholism, a death in the family and so on. Strangely enough I never can recall a happy well-adjusted adult with a generally happy family ever converting through being born again. In fact, the born-again belief in others has always been a topic that has reinforced my atheism. It is anti-educational, anti-information and overall neglecting to learn and reflect. Worse still seeing intellectual effort as irrelevant. It is also increasingly growing as a methodology to bump up congregation numbers through 'feelings'. Hillsong and other modern Churches employ expert musicians, lighting, and stage effects staff and so on to raise the level of emotional response to the maximum and therefore fooling greater numbers of people to believe they have 'found Jesus' in their lives.' As Brandon points out you cannot argue with such people as everything is completely dumbed down to 'feelings' and 'feelings' despite being real emotions can exist and form completely outside any notion of education, knowledge seeking and enquiry. Fear once would drive the masses to church. Today, I would argue many are drawn in by 'feelings' cleverly evoked by dodgy practices by so called leaders and ministers. Even worse they change their interpretation of any biblical text (the leaders that is) to pretend Jesus’ words meant the opposite of what was once considered holy scripture. So how do we get more bums on seats from the materially obsessed? By teaching them God wants you to be materially wealthy through your successes in life. The so-called Prosperity Theory or teaching. So typical of modern churches (often called happy clappers) era everything is instant, easy, excuses human faults, and is one huge cop out. But what can one do? Personally, I don't bother with this bigrade or type of Christian community for even attempting intelligent conversation is near impossible. Their beliefs remain steadfast through placing their fingers in their ears and keeping their eyes closed. Followers feel loved a sense of community and get to keep their crutch by not allowing thought even into the equation. Rather sad really. These things including community and love do not require religious obedience or association. As humans we can seek and find others who question and live through the acquisition of knowledge, logic, rational thought, and courage. Love is not only open to those of religious faith. To imply otherwise is both insulting and appallingly ignorant as there are walking talking examples of agnostics and atheists who care deeply for others and have profound love for family and friends.

His name was Vorbis, and he was a deacon who was described as having a 'mind like a steel ball'. Nothing got in or out. He could not be swayed from his faith because he was sure he was hearing his god's words right in his head, which... meant he had to be infallible as well. He couldn't be convinced he was wrong or that anything he did was wrong, no matter how clearly bad it was. And since he was in a position of power, everyone else had to fall in line. Given all the other parallels to ... I feel like this was certainly a warning about that sort of person. A degree of doubt is needed just to think rationally, in a way.

After nearly a decade of study, I've come to realize that Yahweh is a Jewish god and one of many gods, and that I have no right to get myself involved in Yahwism unless I wanted to convert to Judaism. The Jewish religion sees Yahweh in an almost totally different way than the Christians do. I dislike Yahweh very much and do not want to align myself to him. I would rather become a Germanic pagan, as my pre-Christian ancestors most likely worshipped Germanic versions of the Norse deities. Why shouldn't I? Christianity is a religion of forceful conversion in the name of a god they misunderstand. I do not want to be a part of that.

What worries me most about people with this "gift" or people who just "know" when something is good or evil, from heavenly or demonic sources is what happens when something breaks in their neurology? We know that brains can have malfunctions in their empathy or aggression centers or in their ability to regulate emotions. What happens when something breaks in their brain enough that they now "know" that God is leading them to harm themselves or even someone else? Even more tragic and terrifying is that they have no critical thinking skills to fall back on, just "knowing" has always been enough for them and up until that point has worked out fine.

Each member had a one in a billion talent which bordered on the fantastic. Again, I identified with them because I had rare talent for visual art and writing. Again, at the same time, I envied the X-Men’s extraordinary powers. In college, I read all four volumes of Vasari’s “Lives of the Artists.” Vasari would say that the greatest painters and sculptors of the Renaissance, his contemporaries, were possessed of a “divine spark.” Yet again, though I was a talented artist, I would never be in the same league as the Great Men. I felt small and envious. At the same time, in high school and college, I learned about genetics and how each human is endowed with varying traits. So I learned that even the most extraordinary artists, writers, musicians, and scientists didn’t receive a bolt from the blue at birth. It was woven into their genes. It was a product of nature. So in the present day, I put super powered heroes like Luke Skywalker and the X-Men in my toy chest. The true movers and shakers of the world? Yes, I still envy them, but they are not godlike beings. They have their flaws, which reminds me they are but human and, like me, their time on this earth is brief. My two cents, anyway.

Thank you for sharing some of your thoughts and experiences. 👍 Often what we know of the greats is skewed to a romantic notion . Their "specialness" is evoked for everything it's worth for the dramatic sake of a good story. Most great people had great parents, great teachers , a strong focus , or a great spouse , ... something to give them a particular edge . and last but far from least they had what is only known as luck. Also plenty of greats had extra bad luck and were miserable besides having such great talent, knowledge, skills, i influence, or whatever looks so great from the outside.

Thank you for covering this topic. You are so right about people who don't study the Bible very much because the god in their head is enough. They are almost impossible to reason and rationalize with.

At 68 I have been deconstructing my faith for about 3 months now. Brandon has been very helpful. Regarding spiritual gifts, I believed I had the gift of prophecy, which is speaking the truth - usually unpopular true to powerful people who can harm you, like the OT prophets. My nemesis, the home group leader and ex-pastor, who still saw himself as a shepherd, said "well, I have the gift of prophecy too!" ie, your words of truth will never trump MY words of truth. LOL

One of the hardest-to-see problems with Christianity is an inconsistency in the answers given to difficult questions. The answers end up conflicting with parts of the religion that you weren't talking about at the time. It's a stealthy sort of failure with any worldview that doesn't match up with reality properly, but that many people try to defend anyway. For example, when you bring up the problem of Divine Hiddenness, and how it casts doubt upon the benevolence of a God who wants none to end up in hell, a common answer to this problem is that of Free Will. To give us such clear evidence of his existence would be to deny us the option to freely choose him. I mean...it doesn't _actually_ do that, that makes no sense, but so the argument goes. But now there's a new issue with this Divine Hiddenness "solution". The woman in the video you just responded to says - and evidence corroborates her - that there are many people who have such an easy time believing in the truth and goodness of God that the idea of anyone not being absolutely certain is _weird,_ to them. And she claims this to be a gift given from God himself, not something naturally inherent to those people. So in two different sections of the Christian Worldview, we have these two statements both claimed to be True simultaneously: 1) God gives some people certain knowledge of his existence and goodness. 2) God will not give anyone certain knowledge of his existence or goodness, as that would violate their free will and thus be un-loving. You might can see that we have a problem here. I've been studying this religion and its variations long enough to have seen issues like these crop up all OVER the place. They're everywhere, and every single time this happens, it's proof that you got something fundamentally wrong. These two things cannot both be true at once, so one MUST be wrong. And even if that's the only thing you got wrong in the ENTIRE worldview, it would still be of critical importance for you to admit to this fact, look into it further, and figure out which of the two statements is the false one (if not both of them). Then, and this part is the important part: _You have to actually stop believing that thing to be true._ If for example you chose the free will argument to ditch, you cannot then use it again the next time you're trying to defend Divine Hiddenness. You'll need something new. And spoiler alert: When you do this for all of the contradictory answers to the myriad of problems people claim Christianity have, you start to find that you've completely run out of answers to those original issues. That there's nothing left to defend the very core of the religion. Slowly peeling back one necessarily-untrue layer at a time, pulling at the loose strand you found on the clothes that are your religion, unravels the entire garment until there's almost nothing left. When pastors and apologists and friends and family warn you that a tiny bit of doubt can cause you to lose your whole faith, this is why. And when they tell you that that means you need to avoid those doubts like the plague, that can only then mean that - accidentally or otherwise - they're asking you to believe something you know for a fact is false. You are not doing yourself any favors by obliging them. And you _shouldn't_ do this favor for anyone who would ask such a horrible thing of you. You deserve the truth about this religion. The capital-T Truth, no less. Find it.

Thank you Brandon for more great insight! You have been helpful to me and obviously many others. When I saw the topic of the program, I was reminded of a christian I know who said she was chosen by god. When I believed in god, I was told was that as long as we believed in god and followed him, we would be "accepted" by him. The first thing I heard was an incredible amount of arrogance in that comment. At first, in our relationship, she didn't come across this way. She seemed like a caring person and I appreciated that but little by little I started to notice things. Yes, she has turned out to be judgmental and appears to have justification for that behavior. She has been unwilling to accept if she makes mistakes or admit when she has hurt my feelings and has put blame back on me. The thing is, I don't deal with people in that way. A friendship that started out in a good way, is over and there appears to be no way to discuss it any further if she continues to believe she is always right and has no room for differences. There seems to be this "black and white" thinking that some people can't see past. This doesn't represent empathy to me or a way of bringing people together. Relationships have always been difficult for me, because of trust and this one was yet another that has been blown out of the water, specifically because of religion. It's too bad because not everyone is this way. I am grateful that I have worked hard enough to "thicken my skin" and I trust in my boundaries. Thank you again, I appreciated this one.

Good work. Helped motivate me to send this text to my evangelical sister. It may further strain our relationship, but I won’t be a punching bag for delusion and hypocrisy. Thanks again! “ I’ve got to ask… When I’ve brought up my anxiety to you, you said that I was being “attacked by Satan“. Your anxiety, however, seems to be the result of genetic pre-disposition. What method do you use to differentiate between the two in order to make such judgments? We share the same genetics, so why does only one of us have moral culpability in our disfunction? “

Brandon, please check that the main view that is presented in these rebuttals is a dogma of protestantism. It is not a dogma of catholicism... NOT that either is "correct". Both, though, are a perversion of the archetypical philosophy of the guy in "that book", being loving, forgiving and empathetic. What cultists seem to share is a narcissistic view that, something they are able to abstract, gives them all the answers and makes them "right". No wonder it causes arogance, confusion and a drag on society...all this tithing and praying could be used to hug the troubled, comfort the afflicted, etc. Thank you for sharing a clear, healthy world view !!

This is so prevalent in islam too! Specifically the progressives or the scripturally uneducated. My younger sister is so religious and yet knows so little about scriptures. I spent so much time trying to explain to her that Islam isnt about peace and that in fact Isis follows scripture closer than anyone else. But she just argued that god is good and so he could never allow slavery, racism, sexism, hatred and violence.

The ones that drive me nuts are those who "sneak up" on me , inserting sermons into conversations. It's everywhere. Especially online: I can be watching a political channel, with the idea of exploring what's happening on the world stage. All of a sudden, the vlogger looks into the camera and earnestly preaches how everybody needs Jesus. It's annoying, even insulting. Stay in your lane, vlogger. You're supposed to be a political commentator, not a religious zealot. Grrrr. Or a neighbor....talking about the weather or the price of things and they inject a mini-sermon about how god has them covered and isn't he wonderful.
