TLDR: Your hair's got some mechanisms to clean itself, but hair maintenance with those in the modern world can be cumbersome, so shampoo is super useful. Yet, you don't likely need to use it everyday (that notion came from marketing) and over usage can come with it's own set of problems. Your individual needs will obviously vary. :)

This is somewhat true, showering every day can remove natural oils on your skin and hair that are necessary, but that doesn't mean you should stop using shampoo
@ThBlueSalamander
10 ай бұрын
That's exactly why you should you just gave the reason yourself lol it's the purpose of it just like dish soap is to remove "food" oils. They make you need to use conditioner if you use shampoo. You don't need extra questionable chemicals over your body if you don't need them not even everyday. Especially when you've already got natural oils and pheromones that it washes over. And said questionable materials could be hormone-implicating which should never have been the case with stuff that we use on and in our bodies constantly..

Shampoo dries your hair out and washes away your natural oil that protects your scalp. This makes it vulnerable to outside elements like dirt and bacteria and makes it a great breeding ground for them since there's literally nothing to kill them off.
@whyyougiey6692
10 ай бұрын
Because every time you shampoo your hair every day, you strip your natural hair oil, so then your hair proceeds to compensate for the hair oil that you stripped out, which after a bit when you don’t shampoo, your hair feels very very oily and greasy, which wouldn’t be a problem if you weren’t repeating a never ending cycle so my advice would be take two weeks no shampooing your hair but you can clean your hair with just water and make sure you get all the dirty stuff during that two weeks out of your hair After the two weeks shampoo your hair once a week and you can shampoo it more if you use styling products like gel, but I would recommend not using gel anymore and use more natural products. Cause gel is not good for you either.

What chemicals? You don't strictly need shampoo, just hot water will do a fine job, at least if you don't use alot of hair products. Shampoo isn't necessarily a scam, but alot of people overdo it, using shampoo too often is bad for your hair, it causes your hair to dry out as it's missing the oil that is meant to protect it... This is why they had to make conditioner. The shampoo cleans the hair and strips it of all its important oils, the conditioner adds back that protective coating...

We’re still on this? They didn’t use shampoo in the ‘olden days’ bc they had much more time for personal grooming. Women with long hair would use many brush strokes to remove oil from their hair or redistribute it. What we do easily today with products was done by your own hand, with a tool or by servants. Water and soap will still exfoliate with manual pressure. Shampoo just makes it easier to remove. Yes, many hair and skin products these days have bullshit claims, but shampoo isn’t pointless.

This is actually correct. The vast majority of shampoos contain harsh chemicals which irritate your scalp and actually do more harm than good when overused. Obviously an excess of oil in your hair is going to be gross, so only use shampoo when your hair gets greasy and you won’t have problems like dandruff. I have my own anecdotal evidence along with a testimony from a salon worker on how healthy my hair is. (I wash it once a week)

Just a reminder that even if you can't smell yourself doesn't mean that others can't. All that oil, dirt and products will build-up and your hair will REEK. If you have a problem with the shampoo you're using try changing the way you wash your hair (shampoo is meant to wash your scalp, so don't use it on the whole length of the hair) or change the shampoo. You can get a good one that is cheap, it just takes time to find the one your hair will love cuz there's so many lol. Some people like using light conditioners to wash their hair too!! @ezekieljustin112

@@mathildaleina4771it differs heavily on the person's skin. From my experience, I've tried lots of different alternatives for my dandruff, none of them worked except for an anti-dandruff shampoo that is clinically tested. Dandruff isn't caused by the "chemicals" in shampoos and other hair products, rather it is the fungus in our hair (Melasezzia or smth forgive me if wrong spelling) that produces an oil, and 50% of the population is "allergic" to the oil, and they get reactions to it which make dandruff. Best plan is to observe how your scalp reacts to different plans, like using shampoo, or not using shampoo, there are lots of causes to it. If you start getting dandruff from your shampoo, your shampoo is probably making your skin more irritated and sensitive, which in turn makes you more prone to dandruff.

After Reading the comments in this video it seems that a lot of you guys haven't try skipping shampoo for a longer duration so I'm going to share my experience for those who want to try no shampoo. The first day that I skip shampoo it feels uncomfortable the itch and dandruff were horrible(it actually fix itself after sometime of not shampooing) so what I did was I only use shampoo once or twice a week until I got comfortable not using it and surprisingly it actually makes my hair a lot Healthier I have dry hair since childhood because I use cheap hair Gel even when it's summer and I only care about the style. Honestly it's one of my biggest regret. Now I only use shampoo when I apply hair gel or wax in some occasion just to clean off the chemicals. Even after a Gym session I don't use shampoo I just take a shower and there's no foul odor whatsoever My hair actually only smell after a workout back then when I use shampoo, weird actually but it works.

I have seen a lot of people saying how their dandruff just "disappeared" after using shampoo, what you had probably wasn't dandruff, it was skin flakes from the overusing of shampoo making your scalp dry, which is indeed fixed by using less shampoo, but dandruff is a fungus, it won't go away as easy as that, I had serious problems with dandruff my whole live, and I had tried not using shampoo before, if you have dandruff not using shampoo will make the problem a LOT worse, to the point that just scratching your hair will get this nasty yellow flakes on your fingernails, the fungus is really resilient
@halogamer3301
10 ай бұрын
I want to make a correction, apparently in english "dandruff" also is used to name this particles of dry, dead skin, (which in my opinion is a horrible mistake because one is caused by USING shampoo and the other one is caused by NOT USING shampoo, and just makes everything more confusing) but yeah, if you have the fungus type of dandruff you need a shampoo, a medical one ideally, one that has a component that prevents the growing of new fungus, and a cleaning component that gets rid of the one that is already there, if you have the dry skin type of dandruff you should try not to use shampoo so often.

Well isn’t that what feminisms about, just to be strippers and not judged, I mean feminism took over and now the most successful women…are strippers😅 Beyoncé stripper with music, Kim k and any models just soft core strippers, one of the biggest site for women to make money from, onlyfans, are just online strippers and p stars. Some genies tricked women into thinking liberation means being strippers and free.

I heard this somewhere already. Of course, a common counter argument is that not washing your hair with shampoo makes it oily, but thats just your hair overproducing said oil because you keep washing it off. If you can ignore the extra oil and only wash your hair with water, it should normalize eventually. Also helps if no shampoo you can find helps with your dandruffs, since for some people it's the shampo itself that's fucking up your scalp like that.

@@cpenner7086 shockingly enough, I DID. As you'd expect, some people swear up and down that you need to use shampoo, while others say only occasional use - or even not using it at all - is completely fine, as water can wash out most of the stuff you need to wash out, while keeping your hair's natural oils intact, which generally results in healthier hair. Now, I know anecdotal evidence isn't particularly credible, but I know a woman who used to have really nice, silky and relatively thick hair, but she washed it at least once a day on top of showering, so essentially twice a day at minimum, and now her hair is pretty darn thin and dry. As for me, I've been going with the whole "water only" method for a few months now. I have seen a minor reduction in dandruffs and my hair never gets greasy. I still wash my BODY with shampoo but I don't use hair gel as often (I might use it if my hair got super dirty, but right now I'm not in any particularly physically demanding job or anything similar that would require it often).

I've been trying out not shampooing for like 2 months, and yes, you're right. People don't need to shampoo their hair. But one thing I still do, is, to condition my hair cause I have waves and they can get tangled.
@joyambrosealmeida2715

I used to have waves before. I hated it because I couldn't get them to be straight until I hoped off conditioner and just used a normal soap bar and use cold water on My hair. In the end I damp it dry with a towel and blow dry it a little with heat and comb it. I damp it again with a wet towel and comb it as it is wet and boom. The waves were gone. I was going into having a middle part but I realised the middle part and wavy hair seemed very feminine so I switched it back for the classic right part

Use every week, that’s what I do, even if it doesn’t help much, it definitely makes your hair smell better than those natural oils in your hair, and once a week won’t strip all the oil and make your scalp dry

I actually had really bad dandruff and dry hair when i used shampoo often... Now i use it like, 3xtimes/2weeks or a little more than once a week and its really good for my hair and scalp (: a lot of people are making fun if this video but the truth is some people are more sensitive to shampoo too much use can hurt the scalp. For some its the opposite, they hurt their hair and scalp if they dont shampoo enough. I just so happen to be more on the "less shampo end of the spectrum"

Exactly. For us with curly hair , it already gets really dry , there was a time when I used to wash my 4c hair everyday and it was so brittle and I had so much breakage people used to think my hair never grew. The only thing I could say shampoo helps with us product buildup , but even that is not everyday especially if it's in a protective style.

Depends on your hair type and health, if your super oily and chronically ill like me I gotta wash with shampoo at least every other day or it gets gross. Have tried several times over the years to cut down on shampooing but whether I don't wash or just rinse with water I break out in scalp acne and am more likely to get it on my face too, get dandruff, go very greasy, have more allergies cause pollen/dust stick to it and because I have a weaker immune system more likely to get ringworm which can cause the hair to fall out.
