I’m not even taking the ASVAB or have any interest in it BUT this video was good to watch because it’s the fire I needed under my behind to get to it together. I should’ve taken my CPA exams years ago but kept putting it off. Making excuses. Not wanting to spend the time. Being lazy. Looked for other things to do instead. But I just need to do it. Make it my priority and take it seriously. Thanks for the military talk 🤣

You're absolutely right about this! I got a 46 on a practice ASVAB with my Marine Corps recruiter, so I decided to prioritize studying and focus on my weak areas. There are tons of resources out there to help you, you just have to use them! When I took the actual ASVAB, I ended up getting a 92 and surprised myself! For those of you struggling to pass/get the score you want, don't beat yourself up about it! You're not stupid because you didn't pass/qualify for that job you wanted. Focus on yourself, prioritize studying, and emphasize your areas of weakness and you'll be ok. Just keep in mind that at the end of the day, this is all up to you! A little effort can go a long way

@@diegobaljian984 hey man that's great, I hope the navy works out for you! What navy jobs were you looking at? I went into the Marine Corps as an 0671, but got out in 2019 (rolling around going back into the military, but I digress!). Anyway, to answer your question! What worked for me was looking at KZitem videos on each section of the asvab. The videos I saw kind of broke down the type of questions you'll see, how to answer them, and just kind of what to expect overall. I also bought the asvab for dummies book, and that helped a bit too because it gave me a more detailed explanation of different sections that I was struggling on. For me, I struggled on the two math sections, and that absolutely killed my general score and my line scores on the practice test, so it was nice to see all the math problems written out step by step from start to finish so I could see how to get from point A to point B without messing up too much. To paraphrase, I'd say use KZitem and asvab for dummies, and focus on the sections you know you're struggling with!

In 1969 during the Vietnam War the draft was bringing many men into the service that did not want to be there for one reason or another. Some of my fellow brighter draftees came up with the idea that they would deliberately fail the classification test (ASVAB) and receive a discharge. Well the Army caught on and instead of a discharge, they were classified 11b (Infantry) and received a ticket to the war.

No, you have to have an overall ASVAB score of at least 31 to qualify so if you only pass one section, you will not have the score necessary

Sir, since I was a kid I always dreamed of being part of the Military , am from Colombia and my dad was an officer here for 20 years, he went to Fort Benning 2 times to do some courses and other stuff, I wanna know if there’s any possibility where I can get enlisted in the army without having the permanent residence, I have visa and I can even apply to a student visa by entering in a English course in USA to improve my grammar and once there pay for a tutor for the ASVAB, I have pretty good health and I do a lot of exercise, also I studied English in England and speak fluently so I think I could pass the exams but the thing is that everywhere I look up to says I need to be a resident to enlist. Since you’re a recruiter I wanted to ask you if you know any posible path that I could take, I could travel to USA and go to a recruiter if there’s something I can do. Pls let me know, I would be very thankful for any information you can provide me.

@@TSYONTZ I'm already retired USN. I qualified for everything except the Nuclear Power Program and Advanced Electronics Program. On my ship date the Dr. said I had a heart condition. Had a medical consult and lost my Interior Communications Electricians Mate school. Medical consult confirmed that I had no heart condition. The recruiters gave me a choice of 5 jobs that I would have never taken before I lost my school. Retired under the Temporary Early Retirement Authority (TERA) with 16yrs. as a First Class Signalman (E-6) with service in Desert Shield, Desert Storm and 13yrs 7mos of overseas duty including sea duty on 5 type 2 sea duty ships. Went back to school and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics from the University of Maryland and then worked for the Federal Government in Washington, D.C. ... and 4 Good Conduct medals that covered my entire career.

I graduated high school in 2015, I’m a single mom and i am under to much stress most of the time due to debts and work. I made the decision to Join the Arme on December of last year. I took the test on February and failed with a 10, took it again on March and failed it again. That crashed my spirit and thought this was not for me. I don’t want to quit!!! 😢 I’m currently down because I have not study since march because I was feeling beaten but This whole week I’ve been thinking on study hard and give it another try!!!!😩 I didn’t touched a book after high school that’s why I have to learn everything I saw in high school and I feel so upset. I think I’m just being to hard to myself.

It’s not hard, but it does require dedication and focus. You need to buy a book and relearn what you’ve learned back in 10th grade since the test is based off of a 10th grade level. A lot of people forget what they learn in high school, and if that’s you, grab the book and read it and take the practice tests. Find out what areas you suck at and focus more on those. If you do exactly that, you will pass the test.

I took the initial picat exam and did well, but my recruiter urge me to take the exam the following day, didn't felt ready but I listed to him, got a 44 wasn't satisfied with the score and rates only for rates, but I was told I needed to pick 5 rates, so I decided to retake it again a month later and unfortunately scored lower, had wanted to retest, but I was told I'm not allowed to retest, cause I score lower the 2nd exam, so if I would have scored at least 10 points higher I would have given the chance to retake it, but now I'm screwed I'm not allowed to retake the asvab for that branch

This should be put towards any aspect in life rather if it’s joining the military or not. If you don’t put in the effort, you won’t get the results you want. Also take it as a first step of self discipline because stuff like this at basic training, won’t fly well for you.
