Loved this video mate! Glad you had some time off and you and your gf had a relaxing great time. This video also shows how plans change for sure! I always used a notebook when writing down song ideas when I produced music. Now I’m using one for notes and ideas for videos and photography. All the best for 2024 Sjoerd!

thanks a lot Paul! It certainly is a nice way of categorizing thoughts when wanting some down time. I just instantly open IG when grabbing the phone. Crazy. Haha

Allowing yourself to do other stuff, or even just to do nothing and be bored is so important as a creator. Some of my most productive periods have happened exactly because I decided to just let myself do stuff that isn't related to work at all or just to have a few days where I aimlessly do whatever I feel like in the moment because of boredom. A life that's a constant "what's next on the schedule" is one that ruins your mental as a creator. Sometimes the "fk around and find out" mentality is the best thing you can do to not end up burnt out from doing the same stuff day in and day out 😂

Man, this is so well said! I cannot think the last time I had a day of boredom. This is a next step into this search if peace and clarity, haha.

I really resonated with the part where you said that “the first days of taking a break, you felt like you need to do something” I always have the feeling I need to do something work related, even if I have a bad day I need to push myself trough. But I notice more and more that this is a bad pattern. Great video and thanks for the reminder!

Points well made, Sjoerd. Constant work risks burnout. We need re-charge time. In the case of KZitem channels, my sense is that extended breaks have risks, as well: (1) loss of momentum/mojo; (2) falling behind the technical advances curve; and, (3) loss of impatient viewers/subscribers who might conclude that a channel has gone “dark” and un-subscribe. My hunch is that not everyone can refresh and resume as well as you can. So, I would temper the advice by suggesting creatives stockpile material/posts if at all possible to keep the presence alive - even if that means shorter posts (or posting “shorts”) spread out over the planned down time. Does that make sense? Cheers!
