I've been slow to work up to the tech, but working as a pro (accompanist and choral singer) for 5 yrs, I'm starting to be overwhelmed with the sheet music prep process. Thanks for the video and best of luck with your studies and career!

Fantastic video! I couldn't imagine life as a musician without my iPad. I bought the Pro version in 2018 and it's still going strong. When I do have to update, I'll go for the Air. Thanks for such an indepth video on this!

Very well done. Cemented my decision to blow > $800 on a new iPad Air 13" after 49 years of 3-ring binders. I'm an amateur guitar player.

I really love doing all my music reading from an iPad using ForScore. I'm also a composer, and the biggest downside I see is that it's yet another nail in the coffin of being able to sell copies of music. Once everyone is dealing with .pdf files, it's just too easy to share all of that stuff. The result, less copies (or no copies) actually sold. One thing I believe composers today really need to learn to do, though, is learn how to copy specifically FOR iPad (or any other tablet, for that matter). It's a matter of laying out the copy so that there is ONLY forward movement. You no longer have any need to save paper. DO NOT put in any D.S., D.C., Coda signs, or any repeat sections that need to flip back one or more pages. Always, just copy going forward. A repeat section that fits on one page is okay. Doing things this way eliminates the need for a LOT of processing of scores with a variety of repeating conventions, that were only used as a paper saving device. Those old conventions for paper need to be discarded because they just cause problems for iPad display.

I have the Air 5 and wanna trade it in towards getting the 13 inch Air. I use the Freeform app as part of my composition planning process and the larger screen would help. I’d like a bigger screen to take more advantage of forScore too.

I’ve been thinking long and hard about whether or not I want to buy one and you’ve just about sold me on it. My one question is about notation. Are there any notation apps for the iPad that allow me to write a chart out with an Apple pencil that converts it to a digital chart?

I'm still searching for a good one! I'm using the Apple Magic Keyboard right now, but it's not suited for putting on a music stand lol.

@@CarlosLalonde well I can’t lie I don’t personally have it but it’s a keyboard case and there’s some good KZitem videos on it, the keyboard is detachable and it protects the iPad fully

I agree-it's far too much trouble to keep flapping around with printed music here in the 21st century. 😁
