My experience with New Horizons is that I get absolutely obsessed with it for a few weeks to a month (to the point where it’s the only thing I want to play) and then I barely want to play it at all for the next few months. I’m currently at the stage where I’m not playing, in that time I have become obsessed with other games such as Mario Odyssey and Luigi’s Mansion 3 Edit: Detroit: Become Human is now my current obsession-

I have a completely random idea that I came up with that would work perfectly for anyone who both loves stardew and animal crossing and is incredibly burnt out: it is called the Animal Crossing Stardew Valley Challenge. The rules are as follows: ( if you reset your island you're allowed to sell fruits and fish until you can afford crops, after you can afford crops bells can be entirely made off of crops) 1. Bells must be entirely made off of crops 2. You must fully pay off your debt and upgrade your house 3. Your house must be entirely renovated and decorated 4. You must completely fill out the museum 5. Your starter villager should be either a cat or dog ( one of your first 3 starter villagers) 6. Meet the final friendship level with at least one of your villagers and get their photo 7. You should have at least one horse villager, 2 chicken villagers, 1 duck, 1 rabbit, 2 cows, 1 goat, 1 sheep and 1 pig. I thought this could be an interesting challenge and it could give you an end goal and perhaps make the fun game again!

"Without goals, your motivation and purpose disappear" - not only true for playing video games, but anything you do. Life is seemingly endless at times and so open-ended. Without creating goals for yourself and only going through the same motions day after day, it's easy to see how burnout is so inevitable. Not to take something so deep and personal from what's only an ACNH video, but your advice at the end really resonated with me. 😅

The main reason I have felt burnout recently is because of cataloging. I love cataloging, but after a year and a half of swapping between my switch and ACNH app I am so done. It takes me 2 hours to do all my daily’s including cataloging while when I skip cataloging I’m done in an hour or less. I really hope in the next game we get cataloging and home storage indicators in shops so I no longer need a separate app.

Take it from me as someone who has spent like over 4,000 hours on this game. Do not force yourself to play it just because you have to. Like others have said, learn to know when to take a break when you feel like you're overplaying this game so much. I used to do that last year and it really affected my mental health. Since I have a 2nd switch I can always restart and pick out whatever map layout I want. I am not sure if you are thinking of restarting but if you do, you still have all the skills learned from when you first started out playing the game and you start to do things differently that you would not even think of doing the first time. I would just take a step at a time. There is no need to rush through stuff quickly. Animal Crossing is a game that is meant to be a chill experience and it was not meant to be like some sort of design completion, since I've seen people compare their islands so often and they always get depressed whenever their island is not good enough. You make whatever stands out to you and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Play how you see fit and if you find yourself getting bored with the game again, then take a break or play other games. Thats what I do whenever I feel burned out with New Horizons.

I've experienced this "burnout" fron ACNH, but I don't understand why it matters? Go do something other than a video game. Later down the line you'll want to come back to it without forcing yourself to play (just like you said, Kora)! It's for entertainment, not "I have to play this daily." I have felt this, but there is so much more IRL to do. I'm not bashing Kora or anyone else that plays AC for a living or just for fun (like me lol), I'm just saying we all need to take a break and this burnout is a great time to do it. I haven't played AC in awhile and I got a lot to do in it, but I'll come back to do it later and love it for awhile again. 🙂

what really helps me everytime is resetting. i know you become attached to your island, and it's the last thing you'd wanna do, but honestly it's just the best thing to do when there's really *nothing* else to do in the game.. now you have a whole new map, whole new villagers to hunt for, trading for your favourite furniture again, earning bells, decorating, etc. before that though, my current goals for my island is getting my favourite villagers photos, completing my encyclopaedia, fully decorate my island, and try complete as many nook goals as i can, it looks like burnout for acnh is a lot more common than previous games tbh, i really do wish our villagers had more dialogue. i hate having 2 favourite villagers of the same personality and they both repeat and swap eachothers dialogue. acnh is a beautiful game dont get me wrong its just not.. animal crossing

Decorating (unless it's for weird, creepy things like a KFC staffed by chickens) isn't fun to me, especially outside of the DLC. I've caught all the fish, heard all the dialogue, and have done pretty much all I wanted to do. I got my money's worth. I'm playing Stardew Valley right now and have just started a co-op game with my cousins. This game is so ridiculously underpriced and I'm loving it, even without the graphics. This may be controversial because everyone has a different play style and Animal Crossing has always been about long--term, real-time gameplay, but I really like how easy it is in Stardew Valley to just start over or make a new save file. So many possibilities on every save and it gives you the opportunity to test things out or try something new. To get the same effect, I had to completely reset my island and honestly, I had so much fun starting over. I wish I could've kept my first island too, but y'know... There's no way I'm buying multiple switches to get multiple games. Not to hate on anyone who does, but that's just...insane to me. But again, I know it's Animal Crossing and it's always sorta been that way. But never before has it been such a big issue, in my opinion.

First off, this may seem like a repeat of a comment I made on this channel on a very similar subject. Am I getting burned out on New Horizons? No. Because each day I have a purpose to keep playing the game. 1. I still want to get 100% collected of all bugs and fish and sea creatures (I just have a few left now) 2. Most importantly, I play the game now merely to help others! I love to fire up the game, and give away materials, fruits, veggies, and have people catalog stuff that I have. For free. Because it's nice to help others. Because it's nice to play a game where you don't need to kill anyone and you can just HELP other players. I don't need in game monies (I have millions of bells, thousands of nmts). When I give away things and let people catalog my stuff, the joy that I see and hear when they give honest appreciation for what I give away, is payment enough. It literally replenishes my soul. And I know that I am helping others make THEIR own islands awesome :) I also love to have people come to my island to see what it looks like! I am very proud of what I have accomplished, and I love people to visit it and look around and get inspiration to make their islands even better :) So I will continue to play the game every day. With that said, I have noticed that not as many ppl are playing the game. I am a frequent user of the Nookazon Discord channel, and i HAVE noted a very noticeable drop in the participation level of people on the channel - I feel that the active player base is dropping ever so often as time passes on. And I will truly be sad when this game is no longer popular enough to play online. Hoping that they ARE trying to develop a new AC game for us to play in 2023.

For a game I recomend to play during burnout: I play Super animal royale (SAR) Its like animal crossing, but it allows you to be an animal, and fight others! Its like a shooter/fighting fortnite kinda thing, but with animals!

My expirience find a dopa-loop. Its a dopamine loop that consist of six games of three different genres. And that way you can switch ‘em around a little my ususal dopa-loop is: ACNH and Stardew; Apex Legends And Splatoon; Terraria and minecraft. Now keep in mind its essential to break the loop and do something completely different like a soulslike but if you dont have the money to buy new games every burn out its good to settle with a few in a way like this.

I’ve got an unpopular opinion… the majority of players of ACNH in the last 2 years were not real fans of the franchise to begin with. So likely played the game as you would any other sandbox when AC is a very slow unfolding game to be played in real time. I’m a longtime AC fan and only got ACNH Dec 21, I’m absolutely loving it and will continue to for a really long time!

When the game first came out I played a ton nonstop for like 3 months. After that I got a little tired and didn’t play it as much, but the swimming update got me back into it, as well as going villager hunting. The holiday updates also had me back so I could decorate my island. The 2.0 update had me back for like 2 months, but I slowly got bored of it and I haven’t played the game since December.

When I'm burnt out on a recent game, I usually go and finish up or restart my game files on previous consoles. Since I finished Pokemon Legends, I've been invested in playing Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon again.

I’ve been playing Mario Kart more than acnh lately, which is fine. The only problem is I bought Luigi’s Mansion 3 a few months ago and I’ve only spent 30 minutes on it. I don’t think I will ever get burned out of Mario Kart..

so for people who play other games and like to decorate they will hardly suffer from this burnout? I've been playing for 1 month and I finally can do terraforming, I like decorating and I've been making bells through crops, playing this way is so good.

I didn't want to play on Animal Crossings for a while until I realized why I didn't want to...because of my island. Now I'm doing themed islands like the one right now I'm trying the theme of "cute".

What I do is alternate between this game and story of seasons / stardew valley. Of course I check in on my island briefly every day but serious play if I take a week or 2 off I usually gain the drive back. And when I’m burnt out of sims I play other completely different types of games like RPGs. It’s just a matter of taking a break.

Personally I got burnt out because I can't stand games that make you play *every* day. It got to the point I was getting on for 15 minutes every day just to clear weeds, water/harvest crops, and visit the coffee shop just for the "X days in a row" achievements. I should be able to stop for a few weeks and come back without losing that progress or having my island overrun with weeds and rocks.

Since I don't mind time traveling I takes breaks from the game. I know I can come back to it whenever I find myself a goal again. I don't even do the dailies. I feel like I have to forget about AC a little bit, get it out of my system and the after couple of weeks I start missing it. I finished every event and got all collections in the game. I found my unique weather code, I miss only couple of new dyis. My island is completely decorated. Right now I'm cataloging items and crafting all possible items for HHP decorating. My goal is to finish the whole catalog beside posters and photos.

I still haven't felt the burn out. But I normally just play animal crossing and pokemon Legends. I also have a project on going to turn my island into a gem island. But Im not as good as decorating outside but I'm really good at decorating inside But on July 8th, I have that new Klonoa remaster to look forward too and I guess I could play my mystery dungeon game if I really wanted to, haven't played since the demo but strangely own the full game XD

I was heavily burnt out on Assassin’s Creed, to the point where I stopped playing open world games entirely, I couldn’t even stand to look at them. After months later, I’m back to trying it out again and like it so far. Video games are strangely emotionally fleeting.

I think the reason why I get burnt out with Animal Crossing is that I try to play it like it were a Story of Seasons/Stardew game. Those games are all about time management and trying to find the most efficient routines to get as much done in an in-game day as possible. I try to do that with Animal Crossing, which is more a game about taking your time then trying to cram in as many activities as possible. As an example, on the very first day of a new month I'll sit for hours trying to catch every new fish, bug, and sea creature even though I have a whole real-world month to do that in. I need to learn to take my time with AC and I'd probably enjoy it a lot more. My island isn't going to fall apart because I don't spend a few minutes every day grinding out a bit of each Nook Mile achievement.
