The team that develops Blackwing models deserves crazy props for the new offerings. They really are making cars with the best chassis, suspension, and steering in the performance car world at the moment aside from maybe Porsche. Sadly, these models will likely go overlooked because of the Cadillac badge and because Americans seemingly hate reasonably sized sedans.

I took delivery of my CT4 V Blackwing on Jan 25. I have put about 982 miles on it in a month, and I work from home. In other words, I don't HAVE to go anywhere but I find reasons to just to get in a few miles. This is the finest vehicle I've owned. It doesn't quite have the hellacious engine/auto-transmission combo of the BMW M3 ( I owned the F80 from 2016-18) but I'd contend, for a car enthusiast, it does everything else better. I got a chance to test drive a 2022 M3 with the manual and it's a monster. Yet, I chose the BW over it because this is the better sports car of the two. Outside of that magical inline 6 engine, Cadillac has the better chassis, steering (not even close), braking, seats, gauges and suspension (again, not particularly close) when compared to the Bimmer. Most importantly, Cadillac's manual is better than the M3 and ultimately leads to a more robust driving experience. I love the M3 and wouldn't fault anyone for buying it. But I think it's been dethroned as the preeminent sports sedan by the BW. One last thing: this isn't loaded at 75k. I don't have all the Carbon Fiber options and I passed on a few more minor options that would have made my car closer to 81k. But if you don't need to have all the carbon fiber bits, you'll be in the 75k range with darn near everything.

Cadillac needs to be given praise when it comes to bringing back the buttons. Sure their interiors are behind other luxury cars but they are in a lower price point on their own. Had they kept those touch buttons in this car that would've been the death of it I believe. In 20 years getting back into a car with touch buttons is going to be like trying to use the screen out of a Buick Reatta. If you have the transmission level set to track and it enters Performance Traction Management then the mode switcher will alternate between the different PTM settings instead of exiting V mode. You have to push the V mode button to exit V mode and select the other drive modes. However, if you have the transmission set to Tour or Sport or sport, using the mode switcher will exit V mode and allow you to switch to the other modes.

My daily is a ATS-V sedan and I prefer the way it looks compared to the g80 M3 or the ct4 BW.

Currently trying to decide between buying a used ats-v or leasing a ct4-v (non blackwing). Leaning towards the ats-v, but man I wish I could afford the blackwing!

You can get an 6mt in the ATS-V, so that's a big win. The 2.7 in my wife's CT4 is a tq'y MFer but still a 4 cylinder in the end.

Do you plan on getting back into doing reviews of individual's builds any time soon? Or is COVID still an issue there?

Makes me miss my ATS-V. Question tho: would you take the CT4-V Blackwing over the Guilia QV (another great sounding V6)?

Two pedals vs three in the US and reliability of the QV is a deterrent

Lots of people have had trouble with the Alfa V6, and they say the Giulia’s breaks are really weird. Plus the Cadi will be cheaper to service

How does it compare to a Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio? The manual transmission puts it over the line for me.

Thank you!!!! I'm seriously considering one of these, but my question is: CT4-V Blackwing or Camaro ZL1 (non 1LE)? Is the rest of the package here worth giving up the V8?

Dude, that's tough. Do you NEED a sedan? Can you LIVE with the Camaros sightlines? Camaro is a world class chassis that I simply can't get comfortable sitting in and seeing out of. So the question is for you. I have a two seater in my stable, a sedan was appealing. But if I wanted a 2dr and could see out of a Camaro, I couldn't imagine picking a BlackWing OVER a ZL1.

For roughly the same money, you'll get a better interior, larger infotainment, larger cabin, better suspension, and better sightlines. But if you really don't care for luxury touches, larger cabin, and learn to adjust the mirrors and utilize the digital rear view mirror (me). By adjusting your mirrors and using the digital rear view mirror. You can almost eliminate the need to look over your shoulder. Almost, there are certain situations where you should. In terms of drag racing and tracking, the ZL1 will come out on top. In the end it depends on what you want. Do you want the larger, more upscale interior? Or the better performing and sounding engine?

@@99-Zulu I want the better performing and sounding engine, which is why I choose the GT500 haha

@@JacesOwnWorld Depends on your definition of better performing and sounding? The GT500 needs over 100 more hp, a dual clutch, and less rotational mass with CF wheels to just barely beat out the 650 hp Camaro in some tracks. That's just some tracks, not all tracks. Accelerating in a straightline on an unprepped surface the Camaro wins, holding cornering G's, Camaro wins, tracks go back and forth. I prefer the sound of a pushrod over the sound DOHC. Which really just leaves a prepped surface and rolling starts for the GT500. Think about it, the Mustang has the advantage with power, transmission, and less rotational mass. The only advantage the Camaro has is weight. That's not even unsprung weight, just weight in general. And the Mustang barely beats the Camaro on some tracks, not all, just some. If you ask me the Camaro is the better performer. On top of all that the Camaro gets a manual. The GT500 only comes with a DCT.

as someone who has driven the new g80 m3 (both 6 speed and auto) and was disappointed with both, this looks like a great alternative. It's too bad there's not much Vs out there (southwest) to actually go look at let alone drive, hopefully this will change in the next coming months.
