I signed up to an IVA and was the best thing I ever did. I paid £100 a month for 5 years. The Insolvency Practitioner took a fee of £1000 + 15%, but this comes out of the monthly payments I made (I had no set up costs of 5k???) so if no fee, I would still pay £100 a month for 5 years, just more would go to creditor. I had no contact almost immediately and was able to sleep better knowing my 18k devt was being taken care of. I suspect this guy has never been chased by a payday loan company!! Or arrears for council tax. We would sit in fear. Take all advice you can and make a decision that suits you and your circumstance. Good luck, I am so happy now I have my confirmation of being debt free 😊

@@Oye_TheRealDebtGuy why the sarcasm, I am offering an alternative view of IVA that's all. What do unsolved crimes have to do with it? I didn't mention a company I used. All IVAs are pretty similar. Your creditors determine the fees effectively, they say what they are prepared to not receive so your insolvency practitioner gets a fee for managing it. I just understand IVAs which I think has upset you and caused to be offensive (childishly)

I have been off work for 15 months now since contracting long term Covid and I’m receiving sick pay but the money fluctuates every month but they keep asking me to pay more. I am so depressed with this company and they don’t even give a annual report as to who receives what. They deliberately withhold this information. The debt was about £8,000 and this will take at least 7 years or more to pay off. I was given the wrong advice and it was at a time when I was most vulnerable which they seized on.

I can certainly understand your advice but if you’ve been in debt a long time and tried to juggle lot debts etc having one payments going out with a end result after 5/6 years with a professional company helping you and no debtors can chase or hassle you that alone is major peace of mind and allows you an affordable monthly repayment .. I don’t think it’s that easy for them to just jump from Iva to bankrupting you if you miss a payment there are leeway’s and advice there .. I think balancing it all out using your example if you were in debt of 50000 jpaying bk 250 pound per month would take you 16 years with everyone still on your bk but with Iva you have peace of mind debt free in 5/6 years and a fresh start ... so I think it’s good option for some pple
@Oye_TheRealDebtGuy
4 жыл бұрын
I hear what you are saying... But £1 per month £12 per year on each unsecured debt with no risk of bankruptcy and the worst you will have on your credit file is defaults... no brainer. 50,000 would not be 50,000 in 16 years by the time the debt has been sold. Debt collectors would be desperate to cash in for peanuts as it won't be worth their time. Understand the debt collection guidelines section 7.3.5 and an IVA would be far from your mind.

I see some contraversory here. All sites dealing with IVA claim, that assets are protected and not included in the IVA agreement. You claim the opposite. What is the truth, please?
@lisaparrott556
3 жыл бұрын
The truth is that reasonable assets are allowable. If you have a £30k Porsche, your creditors may want you to sell it to help towards your debts, but they will give you an allowance to purchase a reasonable vehicle. If you have a property it will be protected, but if you have over £5k in equity, near the end of the IVA they will ask you to attempt to remortgage to release some of the equity into the IVA. The best analogy I use is.... of you were skint and you owed your mate £1k, he may accept £100 and call it settled. However,.if you won £1m on the lottery, he would want his £1k back in full. Sound's fair doesn't it?? That is what your Creditors expect, that the IVA Proposal you put forward is fair to both you and them 😀
