Every time a horn honks in Vietnam an angel gets its wings. It's a wonderful life if you can deal with imperfect beings in an imperfect world. I saw the horrors of the Vietnam War and was petrified of returning in 2015 after leaving wounded in 1968. I found it to be a different country that I learned to love for the beautiful people and their culture. I left before the lockdown in 2020 and I hope to return and see my friends again soon. Vietnam will always have a place in my heart. Cam on Vietnam.

The worst contributing factor to the air pollution problem is the coal power stations, as well as the burning of waste material, in particular plastic.

If Vietnam can produce enough electricity, it can help with the electrification of its transportation. Solar energy could be a clean way to produce enough energy. 🤔 Tesla where y’all at?

You would needs vast amount of land space for solar panels to generates the amount of joules that requires. Hydrogen power is cleaner and available abundantly on demands. There are only two seasons in Vietnam. Dry and Wet. Solar is not recommended.

Hi, Van! I live in Southern California and I have met quite a few Vietnamese people, some from Vietnam, and some who were born here. One thing I have noticed is that they speak very softly. Am I imagining this, or is it because they live here that they speak softly? By the way, I love your channel.

I'm managing a foreign company in Tay Ninh. I love the atmosphere of the locals socializing including beer-drinking sessions but I was kinda annoying after they got drunk, simply troublemakers, of course, this could be an isolated case

After 12 years in HCMC four things that bothered me about Vietnam. First is the idea "Vietnamese stick with Vietnamese" that is there. This was annoying in that you could have all the evidence of a problem in your favor, but you are the foreigner in the situation so you lose by default. This also could be seem as a form of discrimination to non Vietnamese. Second was talk and superficial image. Crap, Vietnamese will talk to build themselves up. They can do this, they know this person, and have a good relationship with this person, but then when it comes time to actually do what they said they could now the excuses come out. As an American I'd respect them more if they just were honest from the start. Third relationships were a pain in the ass. In the US relationships, at least how I was raised, were on partnership and working together. They are unconditional. Vietnam relationships seem to be conditional, normally, from my experience with even college educated professionals, you're supposed to be a personal ATM machine, so they can look trendy and show off keeping up with the Nguyens and the Hoangs, or travel agent to the US. Neither to me are a real relationship as once the money is gone, or they think they find something better, so are they. I blame the shit head foreigners that go there just as much. This would be my fourth issue. Most, in my experience in the ESL community, are a collection of perverts and/or pedophiles that throw money around. I also didn't like the motorbike parking security guys talking to the girl I was with like she was a whore, just because she was with a foreigner. I would ask my students, at times, if you came to the US and Americans treated you the same as Vietnamese do us here would you have good or bad things to say. The ones that didn't blow their heads in shame would tell me bad. They know the realities, I just think they, the ones that care, feel powerless to really do anything to a point. That said, near all my friends in HCMC were Vietnamese, several I still am connected to on Facebook while I wait to get back, I lived in a Vietnamese part of HCMC, District 3 and Binh Tan and just didn't associate with foreigners much there. Again experience in the behavior of foreign ESL teachers I knew. It's also still a developing society so I accept it for the most part. Vietnam is a great beautiful country, I especially enjoyed driving my motorbike from HCMC to Phan Thiet and getting off National Highway 1 and seeing the real country side, and you can meet some really great people there. Just have to keep your wits about yourself. You're not in Kansas Toto. I was told by an American that was there 18 years, my first year in Vietnam. There is Vietnam for how they want you to see it, and Vietnam for how it actually is. Image is everything there and it took about 2 years to understand how things really work. Oh yea, forgot the 50% 100%.

I would agree with you in most parts BUT please keep in mind, it´s your personal experience in one part of Vietnam (HCM City), in central VN or in the north (Hanoi) it could be totally different!

The pollution is so true and it's sad how dirty Vietnam is and how much the people do not care at all. People throw stuff on the ground at a young age to adults never second though it, eat, sit, and relax in it its just a wild thing. And with Cambodia and Thailand having such clean countries per international index and even seeing it, it's wild to see how bad it is. Vietnam is also #4 as the biggest polluter of the oceans globally, a country that is the size of California managed this, is wild Some say its because they are poor, but money has nothing to do with respecting and taking care of where you live.
