Let me know what you guys think about my argument for rotating the 5th tire.

This is precisely the argument I have had with my friends for years! Thank You for this video, I totally agree with you. The spare is just sitting there getting UNEVENLY blasted by the sun and the elements, for all those miles. I almost bought a 5th wheel and camping trailer years ago. The owner had all 8 tires the same from his F250, back to the spare for the Trailer. He would rotate in both spares. The L rear of the truck went to the L front of the tandem Camper wheels, and so on. As usual, I totally agree with you. Thanks for the great videos!

So I have a 2004 camry.....and every one of these videos is like a jeep or bronco or something of that sort. When I bought my tires I bought 5 because I found that I have a full sized spare. I have not used this spare only when I catch a nail and swap them out until the tire is repaired. Should I be rotating in the tire to get my "money's worth"?

I agree with the 5 tire rotation and I'm going to do it. One concern i have is dry rot. I'd like to hear people's opinion regarding it. 1. Does a spare tire on the back of your truck dry rot faster then a tire you drive on? 2. If the answer is yes than How much time does it take for a tire on the back of your truck to start dry rotting? If i rotate tires every 5000 miles that would mean at any given time one of the five is not being driven on and susceptible to dry rotting. I guess my overall question is in a five tire rotation do you run the risk of prematurely dry rotting all five? I'm curious what you think about that.

My understanding is the rate at which you will rotate the 5 tires and the amount of time they spend on the back of the jeep is insignificant. You'll be changing out your tire for wear way before dry rot becomes a problem. Dry rot becomes problematic when you don't rotate your spare and it sit back there for 2 to 3 years not being used.

Dude I was looking at my truck and I stared at my spare tire thinking, "I probably should have add the 5th to the rotation". Thank you for making this video. I been searching and hoping someone like you made a video about this topic. I guess now I need to add it to my next Rotation for sure.

Whoever says to not do five tire rotation, probably puts their milk in before their cereal. I don't even own a jeep, and I always tell any jeep owner that comes in to my work to do a five tire rotation.

I really can't see why you wouldn't.

My fiancé rotates her JK with the 5 tire rotation, just makes sense to get even tire wear over 5 tires versus 4. Tread life lasts much longer.

I would recommend any car, whether it's a jeep or not, that has a full size to do a five tire rotation.

How much more life will you get out of ur tires when you rotate a fifth in every 6k miles or so?

you should get about 20% more life if you rotate the spare. So if the tire has a 50k life rating, if you rotate your spare you should be able to drive 60k miles before replacing them.
