Sounds more like you need a new snap on dealer, but if you got a HF nearby then that’s a good option as well, easy warranty process without hassles of the rep. But with tools that goes for all brands just on who you deal with and how they take care of ya

You have a dealer problem. Dont blame the tool because your dealer is shitty. Those Pittsburgh rachets will break way more than most snap ons will and they have sloppy gearsets with horrible back drag that will make working in tight spaces a chore. Theyre fine of your starting out or DIY but most techs will benefit from professional grade rachets.

@@jamesmahy3073 lol my neglected dirtbike and tools would say otherwise Stanley tools makes some really cheap mechanics tools. They can't handle the abuse a snap on can take. But they have an incredibly good warrenty and they stand behind their product a lot better than the expensive tool truck brands. What does that say for the expensive ones? You'd be surprised how crappy, cheap and abused the tools Oilfield service companies run. The cheap brands from princess auto/harbor freight. They're everywhere out there surviving chemicals and mud and extreme weather. Abused and smashed by guys out there daily, and they make it for years.

I love the responses from everyone saying find a new snap on dealer. But if it’s up to the dealer to make that choice it’s always going to be an issue especially if you’re a new client. As much as I love snappy tools the freight is always going to beat the warranty. Quality is nice and all but that’s only if it works. If it’s broken that quality means nothing to the job that you can’t finish. A high end broken tool will never beat a working cheap tool. I’m sure that clients car you’re working on won’t mind if you have a snappy ratchet or a harbor freight ratchet.

Haha! Yeah. I've used Snap-On stuff (never owned any), I don't see anything about them that warrants their insane prices. They make quality US-made tools, but other outfits do as well, and they don't charge what Snap-On does. My Proto stuff kicks their ass in essentially every way other than maybe looks, and I've almost NEVER broken a Proto tool, even with extreme abuse. I guess if I was a mechanic I'd buy the hype (or maybe feel the difference). I'm not, so I don't.
