Alrighty lets get something straight. I own a 2016 ghibli q4s and just got rid of my 2014 ghibli q4s. Here are some basic things to know. 2014 had around 50k miles no problems. Just normal maintenance. Brakes are honestly the worst cost in owning the car not the tires. 2k for a brake job, that is absurd! (my 2006 f430 brake job is 1500). Also addressing the costs of replacing the first year model "parts" are all done free of charge and most were recalled. (Actually I enjoyed when they fixed the part as they loaned me a 2015 quatro gts for the inconvenience). 2016 has around 20k miles and runs and drives the same. Same cost for the crazy brake job. Features barely work, nothing worth a 30k premium for a new one over the 14 or 15s. (Tech no where near level of advancement of german car technology). Quality of leather actually is definitly worse than the first gen ghbilis. Somehow leather is fading in the car. Maserati replaced these areas and the steering wheel free of charge. You basically pay for less leather on ur seats in a new ghibli with an addition of tech. Everything else is the same except a few infotanment updates and a few safety features that as I said are poor compared to some of my past cars. However, they finally fixed the bluetooth and iPod connection problem in the 2016. Another important thing to note is that I have never in my life seen such horribly designed alignment on a car. When driving the car on the freeway I had a tire blow out and when taking to a friend who owns a tire shop saw that this car eats the tires at an angle and on one side the tires were bald while other completely fine. Brought this up to dealer and their answer was ridiculous and told me this happens to high performance cars as they eat up their tires this way. I told them I have had numerous high performance cars and a few exotics and non have done this and gave me no answer. As a result be prepared to buy new tires frequently as maserati has still not addressed this with the 2016. However the car does handle incredibly well and can easily take corners better than any other car on the market for a mid size sedan and that I have driven. (F80 m3, cls63, s5). This car builds confidence Ill tell you that and for the price is a hell of a package especially now in the low 40k range. Basically you pay for the engine, handling, styling, and an exhaust, nothing more and nothing less. In all honesty they are pretty much the same car and there is no reason to spend an extra 30k on a new one. Find a clean and well maintained example and you should be fine. Just be prepared however for high maintenance prices! Hope this helps!

I don't understand the ownership cost aspect of your argument, why would you have to pay for repairs if you have your factory warranty and a 4 year service pack that comes with the car? Tires and premium gas you have to pay for any luxury car it's not any different for the ghibli. So far my ownership costs have been 0 outside of gas and insurance and theres been quite a few issues with it but I didn't have to pay for it because it's under warranty. I understand the 2014s are coming out of warranty next year but as long as you can find a used car with a solid year or two left on the warranty and a service package, owning a ghibli is no different from owning a 5 series or Audi A6 in my opinion
@RonsRides
7 жыл бұрын
Well that's the thing, I know a few Ghibli owners that got into the car not knowing the running cost. They had never had a luxury car before before coming into the Ghibli so weren't educated on how much tires, premium gas/gas consumption etc. And the experience I had with my rotors that I almost had to pay for made me want to educate others just letting them know that things can happen and that you may have to fork up cash. Since people may buy the cars and not lease them, they plan on having them long term. So it as just a heads up that "hey, when the warranty ruins out, this is what you're dealing with' kind of statement.
@LADE7
7 жыл бұрын
To be honest, tires and premium gas is a given with any car. Additionally, if the mileage is still within the factory warranty, you shouldn't be out of pocket if you have any issues. Also,,,, you have the option to purchase an extended warranty. I was under the impression that you were going to inform us about found issues!!!

@@keepamericaopenforbusiness6278 Doing it yourself is the only way to go yes! You can find full brake replacements on eBay, you gotta search around but you can find it. Message the sellers they can help you. Also you should know that there are other cars that have the exact same brakes which are way cheaper. Don’t quote me on this but I think the Lexus ES has identical pads, I don’t remember if that’s the model but Google will get you there. Mine needs rotors too right now cause it has a big groove and you can’t turn the drilled rotors, but I didn’t care I just put a new set of $115 dollar pads on it as is. I'm sorry, but this is the worst video you've done so far, and it seems half-assed to me. You talk a lot but you say absolutely nothing. Like, for example what are the issues with the MY14 you keep talking about. Also - this is a new car made and designed by scratch, has nothing in common with the old Ghibli. - the Ghibli IS straight out of Italy, just like the GranTurismo. - the MY17 IS NOT a completely different car from the MY14 as you say, it just has updated infotainment and some extra options. - the only new wheel design for the MY17 is the GTS 20" forged, but that was available from MY15 - the Zegna interior looks really cheap for a lot of people (including me) compared to the upgraded leather package, so that's not a reason either. - no offense, but you traded your MY15 for a MY16 because you had a base car with no options. My '15 SQ4 is fully loaded, made to order, and has more options than your MY16, and I've seen plenty of loaded '14s. - if you say the the updated infotainment and sport interior are reasons to stay away from a MY14, you could say just the same for the MY15 and MY16. Everything else is common sense that applies to any car.

DAMN! That is a good looking, great sounding car! I have a 2015. I love it. I have a BMW M6 as well, and except for one feature of the M6 (convertible), I enjoy driving the Ghibli more. It is so responsive! My one complaint about the car is how low it rides. I know that's good, BUT, you need to be very careful over speed bumps, driveways, and other situations where a bottom out can occur. It is easy to lose 5 years of your life when you scrape the underside of that beautiful car.

$0.90/mile = maintenance, repairs, and fuel. If you drive 13.5k miles a year look to save/spend $1,015/m. As of 12/18/2017, you can buy a 2014 Ghibli with 40k miles on it for $33,500. Assuming you finance it, your payments will be $560/m. (Btw you should never finance a vehicle, look up a guy named Dave Ramsey) Altogether you're looking at ~$1,600/m on the 14 Ghibli. *Not to mention insurance = ~$150/m, so prepare for ~$1,750 a month on a car.

Friendly advice - stop repeating the same meaningless phrases over and over again. Video could be half the length and twice as good if you'd drop the endless use meaningless filler like "just my opinion...", "if you value my opinion, blah blah blah...", "OK back to my opinions...", "all that kind of stuff...", "uh uh uh", "hope it wasn't too boring...(NEVER say that)", etc. Also, your reasons don't really go into meaningful detail beyond a superficial level. For example, you say the 2014 model year was an experiment. Really? Maserati is part of a gigantic global car maker that manufactures some of the world's most premium cars. It was NOT an experiment - they knew what they are doing! Another is the "you have to be able to own it twice" comment. OK, interesting phraseology and you use maintenance as a reason. But you give no detail whatsoever on what the maintenance costs can be. You just say that if you can't afford it, then you shouldn't buy it. Like others, I could go on, but hopefully you get the point. Work on developing some insightful comments and get deeper than the obvious statements that 99.9% of your viewers already know.

@CarlsGarage1

The Ghibli is just a money maker for Maserati...if you want the pure Maserati you go for the GT, people who buy GT they are not looking for interior functions at all. They want that Ferrari 4.8 engine.

Wrap your side skirt in white. Makes the car look much lower and sporty

I've heard people say that before, what do you think about gloss black to match the rest of the wrap or do you think that would still take away from the ground affects?
@Sf80p

Rons Rides hloss black would look the same as it is now but white would look so much cooler. I saw one driving around my area and it looks so mean

So should you not buy a 2014 or earlier GranTurismo or quatroporte also? Or just the Ghibli?
@leyingzhou

I think its just the Ghibli, the car came out in 2013 so the first couple years are gonna be problematic.

Dude talks like Michael Scott...." Don't ever, for any reason, do anything to anyone for any reason ever, no matter what, no matter where, or who, or who you are with, or where you are going, or where you've been... ever, for any reason whatsoever..." This is a story of how someone learned that you cant buy a depreciating asset you couldn't afford especially when the maintenance cost is exorbitant.

Please get to the point with your statements. Also, maintenance costs are high with all high performance cars, not just Maserati’s.

If I had that car I would lease it. If you spent $91,000 on that car a few years later with 70,000 miles your car would be worth like $40,000 $30,000 it sucks how much the car has depreciated
@alohaohana9247

Amanda Holleran you can already find them for 30k-35k with 30-40k miles.

Aloha Ohana what I'm saying is when they first came out they were 90,000/70,000 now they are cheaper so whoever bought them brand new could have got one cheaper down the road but If I got one new I would lease it so I don't have to spend $90,000
@ChristieKitty2196

Leasing doesn't help you avoid the depreciation your literally paying for the depreciation in the lease payments 😂
