@@BlakesTakes420 2 days later but I have a response for ya! I am about 70 turns into the campaign and I've been having a blast so far. Cathay, surprisingly, haven't been particularly unhappy with me. I've mostly been slowly but surely battling my way through the mountains, having killed off Greasus and am now wiping out the last remnants of Grimgor while also holding off Imrik. Ghorst is dead, cathay seems content to let me be for the moment and I'm sort of becoming friends with the Chaos Dwarfs. I played nurgle in realms of chaos when i first got Warhammer 3. And my experince with them was horrible. The campaign was a slog all the way through, but even though I managed to win that campaign, I never wanted to touch them again until they went through a rework. After watching this video, you inspired me to try them again in IE. I used your tips, I shit on Ghorst, conquered all of Cathay, and even went down south to slap Kairos back out of existence. This is a really good video. As someone who really enjoys play nurgle and using the plague mechanics, this video was and is a serious help. The video also helped me develop an early game strat to manage Ghorst and lizardmen being that after I take the Isles settlement, I recruit a lord and all nurglings for Ku’gath, march north and take that settlement then through the sea to take the lizard men capital. Following such, rush back to the northern settlement to then set an ambush. I always found that once the ambush was set, Ghorst was stuck in flayed rock with about a half stack at Skrap towers that dies without much of hitch, especially with a great deal of steam of corruption spam since Ghorst couldn’t heal fast enough to counteract such. Again thank you for the great video!

Seeing this makes me want to try out Ku'Gath in Immortal Empires. I still hope that Thrones of Decay throws a revision into Ku'Gath to put the Nurgling Faction buffs into his lord effects and make his faction effects into buffs on plagues, purely because offshoot lords being incentivized to also use a lot of Nurglings doesn't quite sit right for me. Especially since Ku'Gath's schtick is trying to make the best plagues, and making his faction's plagues better than the upcoming ToD Nurgle Lord's would be nice, else he get the Skrolk treatment.

After you finish with the vampires you will have to deal with the ogres. As you push north and clear the big bois you'll meet Grimgor around turn 20. One move to make good cash and secure the north: Sell everything in the mountains to Grimgor. Build a 6.5k military building in Greasus' starter province and sell it as the last settlement to Grimgor, big money but it's worth it. He should accept to become a vassal. The mountains are crap climate and settlements (aside from the resources) and having him as a chained dog is great. Kugath and his mates are now free to turn Cathay into a toilet. Just watch the west to ensure whoever you're good with doesn't get wiped by Imrik. Edit: This is still the best Kugath rundown/starter guide out

I recommend to those of you that tried Nurgle when IE just to find it a horrible campaign. Ghorst has been fixed, both in his healing cap and that he doesn't start with the Mortis Engine. Also VC in general resurrect less units after the battle. You also have access to the strong units of the chaos champions dlc, which are mandatory. I also recommend the loreful nurgle mod, which gives nurgle units a bit of healing and a slight Mortis Engine effect. Turns nurgle from laughable to scary without being op, you just now have to know what you're dealing with. There's also a SFO version.

Noob question: what about nurglings? I feel like my first attempt at Nurgle also crashed and burned because I was neglecting my infrastructure buildings and nurgling bonuses. My second go around I stacked bonuses to get me more and cheaper nurglings and I swear the green tide was jealous with how many units I threw at zombie man. Plus the infrastructure buildings help you get to your heroes faster and spread the plague so I'm wondering if you ignore the buildings and Nurglings or just assumed everyone was building them since that's what good players do (unlike my noob mistakes)
@BlakesTakes420
Жыл бұрын
So, your infrastructure buildings SHOULD ONLY be built in territories you're certain you can defend. when you capture new territory, sack it for money and leave it's broken, busted land alone whilst you sack some more. You need only one set of the buildings and natural resources to boost the numbers for heroes. Nurglings are nothing more than a worse version of plague bearers (who are also really bad.) they are a distraction wall for the enemy to beat up whilst your actual units do damage. They're cheap which is good in the early game, but by turn 50 I've normally subbed them all out for exalted plague bearers, chaos warriors, and chosen. The only way you'll succeed in a Nurgle campaign is to accept the fact that you will be running on a substantial deficit and you'll be sacking 1 or 2 settlements a turn in the late game to compensate for that deficit. Embrace the decay of your finances. only then will you be free to serve the Urfather.

The one thing I hate the most about Ku’gath/Daemons of Nurgle is their building system. I hate how the buildings go through a cycle and can’t just be built up normally like other factions. I get that the cycle is a nod to Nurgle’s lore of life, decay and rebirth, but it really restricts the units you can recruit and also hamstrings your economy to the point that you have to be aggressive and raid and sack settlements to make money. I’d probably play Ku’gath more if Nurgle’s building system wasn’t the way that it is.

8) you don't play the diplomatic game nurgle is the only faction able to spend over 30k in a minor settlement you can abuse this by building some expensive buildings in an unimportant settlement, trading those off for buying contracts (allies) and most importantly - vassals especially skaven vassals are great - their artillery gives nurgle a important missing tool and their death globe and flamethrower rats are OP in autoresolve while ratling guns and plague claw catapults are even more so in manual fights But having someone like Grimgor helping you out can be useful as well since vassals betrayals are much more uncommon in WH 3 than in WH 2

I know all of this from playing him. The biggest problem with ku'gath's is Ghorst. Once he is gone, kugath's isnt that bad its just really slow. While goading Ghorst can work, it's very rng based. When it come down to it, if he attacks you with his armies you will lose. Also in the early game, letting lizardmen build up in the small settlement can be a good way to get more levels if you want to use the turtle method against Ghorst. A method that tends to work, at least for me.
@BlakesTakes420
Жыл бұрын
Ghorst is extremely powerful early with basically a direct counter to your blobs with his ingrained mortis engine effect and hordes of zombies. I found by far the easiest way is to take out recruiting lizards, because they'll get saurus, which can chew through plague bearers and nurglings all day.
@Snockooz
Жыл бұрын
@@BlakesTakes420 I mean Saurus' can but I find that as long as you Blob and use mostly Nurglings, Kugath and out heal and out damage them fairly well. If he is busy fighting Ogres then its way easier to deal with him.

@Nirual86
6 ай бұрын
At least it should be more centered around his actual flavor, not just pillaging everything like you're playing as a green Khorne faction. Like there is that plague symptom that gives you favour every time the plague spreads but 150 per spread just isn't that helpful. Even when I get like 10 spreads per turn later on, its not even enough for a basic settlement building, and thats assuming every plague in play has that symptom. At least almost all of their buildings generate at least a little bit of income but that barely matters when their advanced military buildings are this expensive.

I disagree - your starting settlement won't cover the cost of multiple armies.
@albertlofling7310
10 ай бұрын
@@BlakesTakes420 if you use the plague that lets military buildings cycle faster then that means that 1 building gives you 4250 over the course of 19 turns, the starting port gives 800 a turn at lv 3 and the two resource buildings in first province makes this 30% better. so that is 1k a turn for that port alone, all other cities has one normal port each giving 400x2 and 650. on the ports alot we are making 2470 gold per turn. add multiple military buildings as your keen to do given how recruiting works and how much money they make. With the aforementioned plague with the infrastructure building that lowers the military building cycle by either 1 or 2 (level dependant) you are going through multiple buildings really quickly over the turns. so you can easily make an average of 5k per turn in just the starting province and so once you get ghorsts province to the same you are getting and average income of roughly 9 to 10k, if a midgame and non doomstack army is around 3 to 4k then you have 2 armies fully supported on the first two alone ignoring any other settlements you may have gotten in the meantime of building this up due to the sacking gold. ofc it takes time to get this built up but that is where the sacking comes in as getting these buildings built is the big cost

I'll agree with most points in this video, since this gameplay can fit more of the min-max / cheese type of player, so they'll get some more help. But! here's my playstyle which is lore friendly / Thematic and how it applies to Nurgle: *Prioritizing targets* - Instead of rushing to kill the lizardmen, i delay taking the first settlement, so that the lizardmen can recruit another army, and i recruit a herald to accompany all lords. With daemons i double them, since i use two armies together at all times, and since heralds transform, i have 2 lords with a second empty herald later when economy permits to get "powerleveled" into transforming to Exhalted Greater daemon. After this happends, i recruit his herald, since lord recruitment tech will be researched by then, making that exhalted's level 8 close to the new herald's. I actually only use mortal followers in defense armies, but that's for later, i use all daemonic heroes and lords for armies because when mounted on palanquins, or Exhalteds are very tanky, and the Heralds / Plague ridden, have Locus abilities that are indispensable for the army, an AOE Heal ability, and an AoE buff that makes your units get AP damage and Melee attack. So no, you dont need mortal lords / heroes to fight. Going back into the point, while i delay i recruit several necessary units for the herald, while the lizardmen recruit their own, i goad their armies into ambushes or to get out of their settlements for battles, defeat that army, and take the capital, then i wait for the next army to be recruited, then take the final settlement ( by this point, Ghorst usually has taken that settlement and is coming instead ) The reason why i delay taking over, is because i get more XP to level the lords and heroes that is indispensable to get the first spells and start diving into the blue tree and Ku'gath's passives. Getting the wind spell, and the debuff spell maxed, plus the lore passive, and the death spells like spirit leech and aspect of the dreadknight maxed is indispensable, because the debuff from nurgle makes your enemies have 0 Melee attack so they dont deal damage. ( With nurgle the point is to outlast your enemy by debuffing them to the ground buffing yourself to space and healing their damage dealt. ) For more offensive players, this slow approach ( that is thematic ) usually doesnt fit most people's tastes, but is just like nurgle, its about stagnating the enemy. The actual units i recruit to do this, are a full nurgling army for Ku'gath, since he gets a passive to lower their upkeep, and fighting a battle with over 8 nurglings you get a follower that does the same. While the herald gets a follower that reduces plaguebearer upkeep by fighting a battle with one. His army btw takes 4 plaguebearers, 3 toads, 2 poison hounds, 1 beast of nurgle, and the starting plague drones unit. ( Toads are best used as monstrous infantry, instead of cavalry, even their ridden version ) *Levelling Ku'gath* - I've touched into most points of the video with the first part, so the others will be smaller, levelling Ku'gath, should focus on the passives and the blue tree. Using two armies for battle and having defense armies, is indispensable to max out upkeep reductions asap, and improve post battle / raid / sack loot + replenishment. Having Ku'gath turn into a mortis engine, and having better projectiles can come in later. ( One great source of Ku'gath's damage is actually his exploding nurgling ability, using his massive girth to push aside enemies in a blob, summoning them, and exploding them will deal massive aoe damage, then the hole they make can make you pull Ku'gath back so he can go back to being a living artillery piece ) *Goading ghorst*- This is two fold, since it goes into the plague mechanic, the best plague to deal with undead factions is the attrition plague. You want this plague on every Ghorst army always, so that their healing and resurrection is limited, since less models = less healing. Also, to gain money you want to add the + spread and + 150 gold per spread symptoms to all 5 plague types, and spread them constantly on the darklands. This will unlock all the symptoms faster, and give you early game cash. Fighting manual battles vs undead, specifically ghorst, gives you huge ammounts of infections since they are undead, if you auto resolve you dont get as much, so farming ghorst and not killing him until all symptoms are unlocked is key to keep a nice infection economy, so any cults that sprout are better focused on income. *Setting up formations correctly* - Nurgle is the second faction that loves choke points, ( VCounts love it too ) i agree with most points here, but the formation is actually nurglings in front to take the charge, then a stack of plaguebearers and toads follows, so the nurglings soak the charge bonus. Triple stacks are possible when unit sizes vary from small + normal + large, so defensive choke point formations with triple stack are indispensable. *Not playing to nurgle's strengths*- This is a very important factor, here you need the champions of chaos dlc more for defense and for the chaos shrine mount for cultists so they can aoe heal. But i disagree with all else here. This is because your units are actually good, if you play to nurgle's actual strength which is buffing / debuffing. ( Add to this the necessity of ALWAYS fighting an enemy army with a plague on them beforehand ) Plagueridden / Herald equipped with aoe buff and debuff items like helm of discord, Ku'gath / exhalted with swords that aoe buff / debuff, the anti-air debuff items are great, since you're actually in a blob all the time, combined with the spells the enemy will never hit you cuz they'll have 0 melee attack and low melee defense, so your units will actually be dealing damage. Combined with the locus abilities, and aspect of the dreadknight, this will stop daemons from crumbling and give them magic attacks to deal with ghost units or other physical resistant units. plagueridden / herald equipped with AP giving swords, like sword of anti-heroes makes them tanky duelists that chase enemy lords / heroes + using spirit leech will melt enemy lords / heroes, which is important vs VCounts. Having one plagueridden and one cultist for each of the two vanguard armies is enough, while the hero is best used on the defense armies. *Not knowing how nurgle makes money*- Here i disagree 100, as mentioned before, spreader plagues are the beginning of nurgle's economy, what follows is having all infrastructure buildings built on small settlements minus the purple one. ( -cycle time discount building ) you actually want replenishment buildings on every settlement minus large settlement, and the infrastructure buildings also add garrison units. The growth building doesnt offer much, so then the province is maxed it can be replaced. Resources and landmarks must always be built, and the main settlement will build all recruitment buildings plus the aforementioned - cycle time building. This building will reduce the turns needed for basic military buildings ( red only ) to produce units for recruitment. I'm mentioning all these details into logistics, because this culminates into the most important plague for nurgle settlements: The Violent Tremor pox - Pox + Violent spasms + Pustulant will reduce cycle times of infrastructure and basic military buildings, adding the commandment, of + plague duration, and using the defense army to spread this plague to the other settlements, then switching the commandment to - cycle time + the infrastructure building mentioned = -2 cycle time for infrastructure and basic military buildings, giving you more units and money per turn faster. Your buildings will be growing every turn, and you'll wait 2 turns for the final stage. Add to this the cycle time technologies and nurgle's building mechanic can truly flourish for a healthy income. The added sack value from the other plague recipe is an extra bonus, so you can switch into that plague when attacking settlements, and the phys resist buff one when fighting armies. Also, dont forget to mention that the attrition plague with the full recipe increases XP of characters / turn so having it on when not fighting is key. *Not owning the DLC* - Yes, the infantry variety is indispensable for both the defense armies and the second army. The first army's dynamic is to focus on range and have the enemy engage you, while the second army brings the mortals, these will squeeze the enemy in through the flanks as a pincer tactic, while the chaos knights are the actual cavalry that fight enemy range together with the flyers from the first army. Otherwise, it goes back into the hero / lord thing.
