I always got the impression the Plague of Madness could only infect one host at a time, given its astronomically fast infection speed and the fact that in the storyboards, it's said that the original infection died with the host once it passed itself on to another victim. Additionally, a real infection similar to the Primal Plague in some respects was discovered in a sauropod's bones. The 85-million year old saltasaurid, a close relative to Argentinosaurus, was discovered in Brazil and described in 2020, appears to have to have been infected by what seem to be bloodworms, which caused osteomyelitis. The symptoms of osteomyelitis are equally as gruesome, but do not result in mad rampaging, but rather a slow, agonizing death if not treated.

I think the Plague of Madness is more of a curse. Notice how even though some of the other sauropods got bitten, they didnt turn. I think it can only infect one individual at a time. Youll notice that at the beginning of the chase, the sauropod is merely trying to kill them, but as it gets closer and closer to rotting away, it becomes more desperate to bite Spear and Fang.
@kimberlyramin
4 ай бұрын
I will just point out that our infected sauropod received a very small bite to the leg, and thus the infection had time to spread through a living host, while the herd members bitten during the rampage received massive bites, frequently ripping the throat out entirely or receiving additional damage that resulted in very quick deaths. Technically speaking, this isn't a zombie disease, as it doesn't reanimate the dead, but rather puppets living bodies, so no additional herd members could be infected since they all were brutally killed. As for chasing Spear and Fang, the infected Sauropod always leads with the head, always was trying to bite them. It might have tried to stomp on them if they stood under it, but they were always ahead, so it's only option ever WAS to bite. While running through the forest in the first half of the chase, it even leaps to catch up and try to bite them, only to get stuck under a tree momentarily, and continues to snap at them while stuck.

Its crazy to say, but it was very lucky the virus infected a dino so big. It was way too easy for it to just outright kill its victims instead of infecting them. If it got to a more moderate size dino l, like the size of Fang, it would've spread like wild fire.

The Argentinosaurus getting infected is literally the worst case scenario because it’s the biggest land animal to exist. We’re talking about a creature that is 130ft long and weighs 80 tons. The rampage would only stop once the National Guard destroy the neck with a javelin round.

Man. A zombie dinosaur would be a nightmare. Imagine a infected pterodactyl.... Also, I wonder which is more dangerous, This "Plague of Madness" or The "Cross" Virus?
@valcanoman1829
6 ай бұрын
The "Cross" Virus from the comics series Crossed is dangerous contagion virus that causes its victims to carry out their most evil thoughts. Carriers of the virus are generally known as the "Crossed" due to a large, cross-like rash that appears on their faces - other names include "cross-faces" and "plus-faces". This contagion is primarily spread through bodily fluids, which the Crossed have used to great effect by treating their weapons with their fluids, as well as through other forms of direct fluidic contact such as rape and bites, assuming the victim lives long enough to turn. A major difference between the Crossed and other fictional zombie or insanity-virus epidemics (e.g., in the film 28 Days Later) is that while the Crossed are turned into homicidal violent psychopaths, they still retain a basic human-level of intelligence: thus, they are still capable of using tools and weapons, driving motor vehicles, setting complex traps, and other actions. It is occasionally noted in the series that a Crossed retains any skills they had prior to their infection; most simply lack the patience or sanity to do anything not immediately related to their vicious impulses.

The reason it probably creeps you out so much is because the visual style of the show is often associated with child cartoons. Something we watch at a very young age, something fun and comforting. Since this episode is meant to be scary it feels familiar in a weird way.

Honestly the fact that the victim is clearly in constant, horrific, mind shattering pain all throughout just makes it all worse. You aren't dead and gone, you're in there screaming until put down.

Sounds a little bit like the anti life zombie virus in DC comics' D-Ceased series. zombie justice league is fucking terrifying. also that insect fungus disease, a variant of it regularly attacks the flies in my apartment. Their thoraxes split apart into segments with the fungus coming out from between them to drop spores. Free pest control.

There seems to be, one major downside of the plague of madness it is that the infected would have to have a biteforce strong enough to make a bad wound but which also doesn't kill the victim soooo the downside in short is the spreadabbility

Actually while rabies is a virus, flesh eating fasciitis is bacterial in nature. Flesh eating fasciitis seems closer than rabies symptoms wise though that fails to explain the behavioral changes or how it keeps the body animate until the central nervous system is destroyed. This level of complexity and uniqueness compared to everything else begs the question of if something like this could be of less than natural origin. The fungal origin theory makes sense to me at least.

Day 7 of asking a "Why you wouldn't survive God Eater's Devouring Apocalypse" Imagine a cell that can eat anything even radiation and replicate anything it has previously devoured now multiple of those cells form into a cow tank that rains down missiles on you and you can't even fight back as soon as anything that touches it will be devoured and the cells just keep on devouring everything in their path with no end in sight.

You know, that's a scary idea. We clone a cell using sequenced DNA, except we don't just sequence a cell.. But the code implanted in it by a prehistoric virus as well. So, the cell upon being created, would do what any infected cell does and begin manufacturing the virus, eventually reviving a prehistoric virus. Now I doubt this is possible given that DNA has a shelf life, even under ideal circumstances, but the idea of accidentally including viral code in a 'revived' cell is kind of scary.
